      I have it as well, it sucks and people that don't have it don't understand what we deal with on a daily basis and it only gets worse. :(

    I was diagnosed with Grave's Disease in December 2018. I'm so grateful to have come across this video. I'm still learning what this diagnosis means. 💖

      @Tara King I'm doing so much better! Thank you for asking. What have you found to be helpful since your diagnosis? For me, it's calming strategies and drinking a lot more water.

      @Tara King It sounds like you have a lot to be responsible for, especially right now. I'm keeping you and your family in my prayers. I hadn't read about the Vitamin D deficiency but it totally makes sense! I live in Seattle, WA, and everyone here is low in Vitamin D. I'll make sure to add vitamins to my routine too. I'm wishing you the best on this unexpected journey and I hope that one day a cure is found.

    I to am a grave disease warrior since 2011. life is sometimes hard with this life disease. but just like missy said it is an awaking experience when you go thru treatment and everyday life. she is a major inspiration and example to me to keep my head up and keep pushing through because for whatever reason God gave us something that he thought we could handle and took us away from something we couldn't handle.

      I have Graves Disease also, but I realize that God did not give this to me. God is loving, and if I would not make my child sick to teach her a lesson and I'm just a puny human, God would not do that. The Bible shows us that we get sick for the same reason that we die, because of sin. Ezekiel 18:4 _"Look! All the souls to me they belong. As the soul of the father so also the soul of the son-to me they belong. The soul who sins is the one who will die."- This is why Jesus as a perfect man had to die for us, to restore what Adam, who was a perfect man loss for us, and that is eternal life as perfect people. Romans 5:12_ "That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because they had all sinned" - Since Satan was the one who caused Adam and Eve's to sin, that's where to lay the blame. Never blame God for the bad you see in the world, because that was not his purpose for the earth, but you can be assured that he will soon take care of the problem. Then you will see the true God in action and his name is Jehovah God, not just any god!

      I found out in April 2019 at my health check-up that I have graves disease. I've been full of emotions ever since. I go to the endocrinologist once a month and take medication twice a day. That has serious side-effects. My weight has been fluctuating, and I break out into itchy hives. It's very difficult dealing with this, but I know God got me and I will not let this disease kill my faith. Thank you Missy for sharing your story. God Bless you luv😘

    Thank you for sharing! I have hyperthyroidism and it took so long to be diagnosed. I thought I was going crazy. Diet and exercise has been my saving grace but when you have an attack, usually after a sickness, it is so hard to get back on track.

    I'm a white guy with Graves' Disease and I truly admire Missy Elliott for speaking about her struggles and living life with the debilitating disease. It's definitely a life changing experience.. And mine turned into a complete domino effect with creating numerous other life threatening autoimmune diseases. I know she hasn't been in the spot light for a minute. I hope she is doing well and I wish her all the best! She is such a beautiful soul!

    • @PaulJGorzkowski
      @PaulJGorzkowski 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Tara King Thank you for asking... It's a struggle, but I'm getting through it. The same month I was diagnosed with Graves' Disease in 2013, I was also diagnosed with Essential Tremors, Degenerative Disc Disease, Spinal Arthritis, Double Vision, a disease that causes internal cysts in my body, and Blood Clots throughout my body. In 2015, a blood clot claimed two feet of my intestines and my appendix. I've also had possibly six strokes since February 2019.. The same day I got out of the hospital from my first stroke, Luke Perry had died that same day from a stroke.... I cried about that the entire freakin day... Only two of my strokes were hospital visits and treated.. The rest of them I just stayed home and sucked it up because in my state, without health insurance, you're treated like a second class citizen by ALL hospitals...
      And with me not having health insurance for the past five years, I haven't been able to get metical treatments for any of it and they all only got worse. I'm finally getting a Colonoscopy in December and I now possibly have Crohn's Disease. Because I haven't been able to get my Essential Tremors under control along with my Degenerative Disc Disease, I can barely walk.
      But, MOST of what I was diagnosed with are autoimmune diseases.. The doctors don't know if mine were caused by my thyroid or not, but that everything I was diagnosed with was passed down genetically.

    • @PaulJGorzkowski
      @PaulJGorzkowski 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Tara King Thank you! I have applied for disability seven times, two of which I got a lawyer and we went to the end, and I still got denied because I can see, I can move my fingers and I "can walk." Social Services can't help me.. All of my local churches and organization's resources have dried up and because I don't have insurance, the hospital refuses to investigate any of my issues, especially intestinal.
      I never heard of Graves' Disease going into remission. I know Missy Elliott claimed that a few years ago and it came back with vengeance. What I read about her a couple of months ago, she learned how to use her Graves' Disease to her own advantage, threw it into Hyperthyroidism and lost a good amount of weight and looks freaking amazing! I did the same thing a few years ago and went from 265 pounds down to 200 and little did I know when I went back to my regular dosage of meds, that my intestines were was going to shit on their own accord. I'm now 145 pounds, sicker than a dog and can't seem to get my thyroid back to Hypothyroidism to save my ass.
      What I have learned over the past five years is.. Hypothyroidism causes weight gain and blood clots... Too much medications causes me to become sluggish, lazy, and inactive. Hence my strokes... Hyperthyroidism causes weight loss, more physically active, a much healthier digestive track, but can possibly cause additional autoimmune issues. Hence, all of my other hell!
      I wish you all the best in dealing with this. Listen to your body.. Nobody knows it better than you. My Endocrinologist I had, although I thought the world of him, made me overdose on my meds, get fat as hell and I had my first stroke less than two weeks after last seeing him. He wants me to come back, but I can't afford it out of pocket.
      Good luck. Those of us living with Graves' Disease are living in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" lifestyle that nobody out there understands. It's our place to educate them... I've done my share through the years.. Most of the troubled ones were the ones who told me that I was not sick and that it was all in my head.... Most of them, I no longer associate myself with.

    No one around me understands what I'm going through. I struggling day by day. Sometimes, I can't make it out of bed. My heart beats so fast when I wake up sometimes that I just go back to sleep thinking this is going to be the day. I hate going through this. The doctor's offices that I call been giving me the run around. I have this goiter in my neck that is making it hard for me to swallow, talk ,and breathe sometimes. I don't know what to do....

    • @MissaLifeStyle
      @MissaLifeStyle 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Change offices, I had to switch clinics and keep asking for tests until someone listened. It took almost a year because your tsh, t3 and t4 will fluctuate depending on what time of day you take the test. It is so frustrating.

      honey i know exactly what you're going thru. i'm sorry u feel like this. i suffered with graves' since i was 13, they put me on drugs to suppress my thyroid and then i became hashimoto's. i'm 23 now and mostly in remission. you need to try the 30-day reset autoimmune diet (cutting out gluten, dairy, corn, soy and sometimes nightshades- all very common antagonists), and also do some research into low-dose naltrexone, an immuno-modulator rather than suppressant. and then, try to link up with a functional medicine practitioner or an actually sympathetic doctor who will write u a prescription. i know how seriously it can affect u day to day and i know how hard it is to find someone who will understand what's going wrong. hope this helps and u soon feel better.

      It's a year later, and I hope you stayed prayerful, optimistic, took your meds, ate right, and stay on the path to getting back on track. Graves is deadly serious and people who don't have it just don't understand the damage it causes. I wish you luck and good health!(I've been in remission for 8yrs. It's possible to get through it!!)
