Back in thew 70's, I used to go to camp at Cathedral Pines, which is a Baptist camp that is across highway 75 from the Bolder Mountains. Great memories! I have actually climbed to the summit of Boulder Peak, and looked down into that basin. The ghost town was much more in tact 45 years ago. It sure is cool seeing things from the floor of the basin. We actually walked that shale road, and then cut west to climb across the south face of Boulder Mountain. Once again, great memories. Thanks for the vicarious experience of returning there!
I have another Boulder Basin vid coming out soon. I'll probably go back again next year too...so amazing out there. Thanks for sharing your experience, it's so cool to hear about it!!!
I was just trying to get a laugh out of the guys...Chris was like "for the record, I DID change my clothes" lol. Thanks for watching all the way to the end!!!!
Thank you! This was a really early video for us…we were experimenting with different ways to edit…and how to shoot a trip. It was a really fun adventure though, which is the most important part 😀
@@Venture2Roam you’re doing great with these videos! I’m still learning and experimenting too. Takes a lot of work figuring out how best to make these. I love the engagement it brings the most.
That is a really cool trail with probably the best vehicle accessible views in the area. We got 4.3 miles in on our last try Sept 2021 before we hit a huge washout that could have swallowed my SxS whole. Since we were alone we decided not to go any further but would love to try again this fall when we are back in the area.
I know exactly what washout you are referring to..it's turned my crew back a few times as well depending on what rigs were with us at the time. I'm actually editing another Boulder Basin video right now where we take a long look at that washout.
I thought it was literally impossible to bring a rig bigger than a UTV up that trail, I’ve done Boulder City several times and it has put our Razor and Cam Am to the test.
This trip was a blast. Still can't believe the guys wanted to keep going in the dark. Can't wait until we do it again so I can get more of the climb filmed! Thank you for watching!!
Hi Brandon - it's about 6 miles and it probably takes 3 - 4 hours depending on your rig. An ATV could do it much faster, which is what we see a lot up there. In Jeeps/Tacos there's inevitably some spotting, obstacle issues, and other mostly fun problems that arise. Going down was a bit faster.
@@Venture2Roam thanks! I was curious if I would be able to make it on a Friday after work and get there before sunset. I have a lifted xj on 35s and lockers. Coming from the Boise area so might be tough.
@@BrandonArent That's exactly what we did....and why much of climb was in the dark...we didn't get into camp until like 11pm on that first night. Next time, we'll camp somewhere early on Friday, then hit the trail in the morning and have an early camp on Saturday.
No, no, no...when you come to a high mountain lake the questions is, "Are there fish in that lake?" Other than rocky narrow trails and slow going I didn't see anything particularly challenging. Is that a fair assesment or one that would get a modified '96 XJ in trouble??
Very good point.Since we climbed it at night, we didn't get a ton of footage of the more technical parts. A 96XJ would be just fine. Big tires, a good suspension, and relatively narrow/short footprint make this trail more fun than challenging. But lots of variations to keep things interesting. It's definitely more of an overlanders trail than a rockcrawlers trail. Thanks for Watching!!!!!!

Man, what a view to wake up to at 5:39! Nice job on the video!

Looks like a fun trail... haven't done this one yet.
This trail has some great variety, amazing views, and interesting history. It might be an annual trek for us. Thanks for watching!!
I’ve got a buddy with a bronco we give crap to like you do to Borris. Gotta have one of those in each group.
Entertaining videos. Keep it up!
Borris is our favorite rig to love and hate at the same time. So cool you have a Boris too!! Thanks for watching and dropping a comment!!
Keep the video's coming! #EatSleepOverland

Thanks for watching! It was a ton of fun, can't wait to go back next year!
Awesome! Keep up with the great vids!
Thank you so much!! We have lots more to share coming soon!
Such a great trip! I think it might have to be an annual thing!
Now that’s a great idea!!!
@@Venture2Roam btw...For the record, I changed my clothes at least once!
This is one of my favorite trails to do every year. Fun fact: This is where parts of Pale Rider with Clint Eastwood was filmed!
Whaaaaat??? Have to go back and watch that movie now! We’re thinking of making this an annual trip as well.

It's intimidating for sure...and I think it changes a bit each year depending on the washouts. Thanks for taking the time to comment!!!
The Shale Road looks awesome! I’ll look on my map trying to find it for future trip maybe in Idaho!! Great video Will 🤙🏼
The trail gets serious after you hit that road. Come on down to Idaho! We’ll show you some great spots when you’re here 👊
Awesome vid. Looked like a good time!

Great vid!! Looked like a great time and wicked views 👍
I only wish we could have captured more of the views...they were epic. Oh well, just have to go back and try again! 😎😎😎 Thanks for watching!!!!
Whoo hoo! That was stunning. Always fun to rip on a Land Rover, it's a worldwide thing :)
We actually LOVE Boris...but it’s still fun to give Tim a hard time!
How long does the trail take form the highway to the mine?
