If held at the right angle you can cut slightly into the bolt. Then turn the air hammer to where it will hammer the stuck bolt to unspin the bolt. Given a little practice it works great. This air hammer gives you the control needed to get the job done right. Very powerful yet still does not seem to have as much vibration as other guns I have used. One of the best I have gotten my hands on.

Yep. When i do a project that's way less complicated than this, I take pictures at each step and lay every piece out in the order they came off, watch tutorial videos and still manage to have extra parts left over.

This should be happening to every old tool, but paying someone to spend a day restoring an item like this costs about as much as buying a new one :(

I’m actually shocked how well that went. The way the Germans over engineer everything, I expected it to be way more complex.

@@SJMp3 Probably lack of good quality check at end product.Also badly payed workers will make crap stuff.Bosch from Hungary is really good or really bad and Taiwan is better than China.I found Bosch tools on flea market made in Malesya and Germany,I cant tell are they original.

Construction companies could save some money if they hired a guy to take care of the tools after use.
Martin I could see that, but when time is money and you’ll lose 10,000 by extending a project another day, buying a $200-700 drill seems like a steal.
But someone could still sit down and clean the tools between projects. Where I work they throw around tools and never clean them, leave them out in the rain.
No wonder I see so many people selling them in flea markets in Eastern European countries. They buy them for scrap in Germany and the UK, dust them off and sell them as being good. I bought stuff myself, for example a 2000W DeWalt router that usually costs 500€ and it cost me 200 restored like new.

Looks like powerful tool, but it is so heavy! Still, nice restoration. Nice to see a quality tool saved from the dump. It is probably better quality than the homeowner grade junk you find in hardware stores nowdays.
I have one of these and it is a real work horse. Breaks and drills concrete like nobody's business!

Finally somebody who knows that this model of hammer takes OIL not GREASE. When you fill these with grease they will work for a few hours only.
For this hammer its 60ml of Bosch 1 615 430 019 or 1 615 437 512 Oil upon full disassembly to be precise.
That oil is too expensive though so id say 10w40 engine oil is about right for the viscosity.
Hammer geraboxes are not to be messed with they need the right lubricant they were designed for.
Most Makita and Bosch hammers use a very liquid low viscosity grease for sealed gearboxes. Its NGLI 00 or 000 approximately.
The smaller hammer drills use NGLI 0 for Makita and Bosch may use up to NGLI 1.

Good rebuild. Those are good hammers, if you can and have use for it, keep this one. I have several units bought for my team and with the exception of one that snapped the piston's skirt in a freak accident, they've been in hard use for a while now. One of Bosch's better tools in their "newer" line up.

When I spun the motor with a socket and drill, the armature gear was not engaging the hammer gear. What could be the reason? what should I replace?
The hammer drill (slightly newer model) continuously cuts out while hammering and sometimes the drill portion stops working

I changed all me tools to Bosch about 5 years ago, not one has ever let me down, I like their warrenty, if you have any problems, they send a courier to your home or job site to pick up the tool and drop it back when it's done.

I'm guessing there are a lot of them around in certain areas, in part due to rainy seasons flooding places, but also because of the flooding damage from earthquake/tsunamis? That would be my best guess.
