Good morning Paul , you never cease to amaze us !!! This will be a fun little exercise I can’t wait to see the album fill up! Thank you always Paul , May God continue to bless you and Margot and keep you healthy and safe !!! ❤
Thank you Paul for an amazing video! You do a great job explaining and also including information on the video visually. It shows the time and care that you take putting it together. The subject and technique was also amazing! Inspiring!! Great job and I look forward as always for another post. 🎨🖌️☀️🌙⭐️🌎
It's always amazing to me how adding those few little highlights at the end with the white pastel pencils really seem to make the paintings come to life. Another wonderful piece of art, thank you for sharing and giving Wednesdays such a great start!
Wow Paul you pulled another rabbit out of the hat with this one, so atmospheric I felt the rain i was so engrossed when l looked down I had spilt some coffee down my trousers!!
What a wonderful video. So beautiful. I will try this tutorial during my watercolor class today! I'm thinking watching this, like 5 times will help! Cheers from Hawaii!
I am just starting out in painting. At the age of 64. I loved your ‘teaching’ video. Thank you ever so much. Greetings from Wet and Rainy Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!!!
Watercolor Wednesday finally!! Been waiting all week for today and, as usual, you brought us another amazing piece. I’ve never painted a scene like this before but I certainly want to “give it a go!” You make it look so easy. I really appreciate how you take the time to explain color mixing techniques. I’m not a trained artist and I learn by doing and watching tutorials. Thank you for your time and effort- now looking forward to next Wednesday!
What a gorgeous painting. Love the colours(my favourite in watercolours), just wish I knew how to photoshop. Intensifying the colours on the right made the whole painting pop. You have just demonstrated, once again, that less is more(the buildings) which looks far more realistic. Thank you for generously sharing your amazing talent.👏👏
Wow! What an amazing tutorial and artwork. Thanks for the lesson on how to mix purples. And I love how you have captured the light, shadows and reflections. You are truly gifted!
The colors you mixed give a charming effect on the mood of the painting. A terrific way to illustrate rain falling on the streets. Many thanks to you again for another stunning piece of art and another great Wednesday of watercolor.
bonsoir Paul, ces mauves sont superbes, j'adore vos couleurs. Les personnages se détachent de votre peinture, splendide. Merci pour toutes ces belles leçons. 😍
Wow, never tried an urban picture before and this one certainly looks a challenge, but as you say "what could possibly go wrong" . If it does go a bit pear shaped then there seems to be a lot of drying interludes that may involve a bit of gin. I have to say Paul, I have watched and tried to do justice to many of your paintings, in my humble opinion you are one of the best artists on TH-cam, not only because of your fantastic paintings but the fact that you show every step of the way in detail, not that many go to so much trouble, and you also have a great sense of humour. I can not sketch for love nor money so it is so kind that you share your sketch's. Please keep up the good work, I always look forward to my Wednesdays. Cheers Brian.
Absolutely beautiful. Very mauvey and moody indeed. That has been one of my favorite tutorials, I love that atmospheric feel in a painting. Thank you for sharing that.
Thank you for a new and , as allways, lovely video. Beautifull colors, full of emotions, at least for me, good music, perfect energy. Say hello to your lovely wife and see you next week. Counting the days..❤
Wonderful tutorial thank you for the exercise in mixing blues and red I understand now how they can go vibrant, I will give it a try for sure thank you for making my art journey enjoyable.❤😊
I was very down at a stage of my life. It was during my early motherhood. Somehow I started out watercolor and you were my comfort space. Now its been some two years since that and i got busy with my job. Coming back to seeing you I feel very much connected with paul clark like a caring father I never had who teaches with kind and love. Thank you for sharing your work sir, I respect you and your partner for doing this :)
Thank you! We live in a very dry area of our country! Very inspiring and informative as always! We value your help as always! Layer upon layer and spritzing for texture! Awesome!
I'm gonna stay in on a Saturday night and binge-watch Paul Clark videos. Wild weekend plans! Thanks for a great video and for generously sharing your knowledge!
Love ☂️this🌂Paul! Great idea Margot❤ I already have a Purple Mini Cooper, so I'm good to go! Oh, today I'm 64, and just listened to the Beatles driving home. This was a perfect close to my day. Hang drum music was the best 😌
I am always in awe of your artistry. Thank you for your excellent teaching methods and explanations during your presentations. My hat goes off to great artists such as yourself.
Just so inspiring and instructive. I can't wait to try these techniques and others from your other tutorials. I have three paintings I'm going to work on for friends and family, and your tutorials are just the cream of the crop for what I want to do. Thanks again!!
Every time you showed the finished painting in the corner I thought it was the reference photo! That's incredible. The detail you got on the backpacks without really having many details at all... that's mind blowing. I have learned so much from your book and your tutorials. A thousand thank yous.
Loved watching this. Just started painting again at 77.After 60+ years in Surrey, I'm basking in 30° and sunshine here in South Australia. Blue seas, red parched earth and cliffs, hazy mountains and some green farmland.
Wow..as if you know i needed this. Thank you Paul. I am fascinated by city scapes painting which i find so difficult to learn. This is one fantastic tutorial. Layering and lifting. I will try that. And i am always in awe how you could achieve such good looking colours with basic primary colours.
Hi Paul: This painting is fabulous! The way you captured the mood of fog, headlights, wet streets, and figures in the rain is amazing. Love the fact that only five colors were used. So appreciate you helping out with the drawing part. BTW, your cocktail looked luscious! Thank you so much for sharing. 💜😎🇺🇸
93/14/2024 This was so fun and so dramatic. I loved it. I painted it twice because I am having a little trouble realizing when my paper is drying too much. But, I am learning. Thank you so much. You are my favorite!
Amazing tutorial. Love the color scheme and the tilting of the board is a must. Going to try my own composition but using these techniques. Thanks as always!
So atmospheric even without the sounds effects!? It’s mesmerising to watch you bring the painting out of the white paper? I’ve learn more about watercolour paining from you in the last few weeks than after years of trying and having lessons! Keep up the good work!
Another masterclass, which is so interesting just to watch. The best part is that your students ask the right questions, and all your TH-cam subscribers benefit. It's the perfect combination: talent and live students.
This is the first rainy painting that I would give house room to . Most are a depressing black and white (with a bit of red) . This one looks quite cozy, works well and is very appealing .
Having been away from the art scene for a while I was electrified to come across a glimpse of this tutorial and decided to watch it then and there. It was mesmerising, to say the least and Paul , your urban cityscapes are always a cut above all that I see around . Congratulations, with a request for more.
With a few adjustments, this became my son and daughter in law, walking in their college town. Adding a nice frame and their anniversary gift is complete. The first time I ever actually waited for my paper to dry every time you said. I need to add a mini fridge to my art room for those breaks. 😉 A wonderful afternoon. Thank you
So much fun to watch your work. I always wondered how to paint a rainy scene and learned so much from watching you do this scene. I viewed it several times, each time learning something new. Thank you.
What a lovely painting!! And I really enjoyed watching you paint it. The lifting out to create the lights is so helpful. I’ve been commissioned to paint a lighted Christmas tree. So this technique might help achieve that light coming from the tree. Would love to see all three of your paintings side by side. Each one I’m sure is unique. Funny thing it’s been raining here for days now. Which is good because we’ve had a horrible drought. Not too good for the rainiest city in the US. Wishing you and Margot a mauvilous and blessed day. 🙏🏻💜
And there is the video I've been waiting for all wednesday morning ... 😄 As always, a lovely tutorial! Thank you so much! It's fascinating, how a few strokes with the white pencil bring it all together in the end.
Good Morning ☕️ Paul & thanks for letting me know how to mix up the various Mauvember mixes of colors. (I felt 😂you were speaking to me specifically with my choices of colors in my painting). Those mauves colors are something that I am not use to trying before this Margot challenge. I definitely appreciate it. 😂And dog gone if you didn’t pick my favorite color to say it wouldn’t look good for the umbrella ☂! 😁💕. That’s cool how you were able to find a mauve drink for the break. I was expecting a 🍷 wine but was pleasantly surprised. Thanks for sharing this wonderful step by step break down of this gorgeous painting that I have been wanting to try for a few years now but felt was too complex for me to do. I will definitely give it a go now that I know how it is done. Hope you & Margot are enjoying a wonderful week with better weather! Cheers 🍻!
Thank you!! This is lovely! Even just to watch you paint is wonderful! But then you are also so easy to follow with you clear instructions and information included visually. Also, thank you for sharing how long it took you, it really helps set realistic expectations and not be so hard on myself for being "slow" ❤
As I watched this I had to remind myself several times to breathe- from amazement and also fear. I keep thinking, "Oh, he is going to yell at me for "fiddling"!" This is an incredible lesson in many ways. Your paining made me gasp. Thanks a million, and here's a coffee. 😘😘
What a beautiful painting and tutorial! I loved your lesson on mixing the colors. I love your tutorials and look forward to seeing them every week. They are so educational and so enjoyable. Your sense of humor always makes me laugh and I love the music. Can't wait to "give it a go." Thanks so much Paul!
Hello Paul. I have so enjoyed watching your videos over the past 3 years or so! I took watercolor for my illustration major several years back but hadn't really used it much until about six years ago. I found a very good teacher locally that offered workshops a couple times a year. Up to that point I didn't know how enjoyable watercolor could be. Much to my chagrin, he retired. I was grateful to have come across your TH-cam channel shortly thereafter so as to keep progressing. I have been able to do a few of your pieces but have also found, that by watching you weekly videos, I have more confidence in doing picture of my own. You have a teaching style that simplifies things so even an unseasoned water-colorist like myself can follow along. Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge and expertise of the watercolor medium!!!
I have made the lavander field by watching your video. Right now i couldnot afford high quality material. So i just use normal drawing sheet and $4 paint from supermarket. And i just got amazed. It turned iut so so beautiful. I wish i could attach the picture here. Thank you so much for amazing tutorial.
Hi Paul, I am delighted to see your watercolor tutorial! Thank you for sharing your mastery with us! I hope you and Margot are staying warm in rainy weather ♨️
Thank you for this tutorial. I used it for my Christmas cards this year. It was prefect for the little town in the Pacific north west United States where I hail. We have this weather pattern we used to call the Pineapple Express,AKA Hawaiian Fire Hose. Now it's called an atmospheric river. I painted 14 cards and your right none of them look the same.
I love this! I've been doing sketches and studies of rainy day scenes like this recently. Those darker values you applied at the end pulled me right into the scene with more depth, and I love the richness that the washes just before that added.
Thank you for this wonderful mauve Wednesday tutorial. Mixing colours and washes are lessons that can never be repeated enough times. Such sure brush strokes. Magical ✨🔮
It is very warm here where I am in Australia and we need rain so much. Your painting was just amazing. I will try to do it and hope to capture the wetness and loneliness that this feels. Thankyou so much for your time that you put into your videos. I look forward to Wednesday night so much.
I loved the mauve rainy day scene. I brought my watercolors to Florida USA on holiday. I only have 5”x8” paper to try some small pictures. Thanks for all your tutorials.
Watching you paint is mesmerizing and the music is almost hypnotic. Thank you for an outstanding experience Paul. I enjoy every painting but for some reason this really drew me in. It wasn't the weather. We are having gorgeous sunny weather here in Illinois. The calm before snow! Thank you❤
Love the picture, the two figures, which looked so simple todrawand paint, looked like they would be walking off the paper at any minute, so clever.
Great to hear - thanks!
Good morning Paul , you never cease to amaze us !!! This will be a fun little exercise I can’t wait to see the album fill up! Thank you always Paul , May God continue to bless you and Margot and keep you healthy and safe !!! ❤
Very kind - thanks Gretchen

Your rainy cityscape is my favorite! I can’t wait to try this one
Hope you enjoy it!
Wow Paul you pulled another rabbit out of the hat with this one, so atmospheric I felt the rain i was so engrossed when l looked down I had spilt some coffee down my trousers!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow the contrast of the figures … soo stunning… there is nothing in this pic that isn’t spectacular. The left umbrella with light on top…beautiful…
Wow, thank you!
Reflections are one of my favorite things to paint wonderful tutorial I can almost hear the pitter patter of the rain. Cheers.
What a wonderful video. So beautiful. I will try this tutorial during my watercolor class today! I'm thinking watching this, like 5 times will help! Cheers from Hawaii!

This is an amazing painting. I absolutely love it. For me it's the best I've ever seen you do.

Wow! What an amazing tutorial and artwork. Thanks for the lesson on how to mix purples. And I love how you have captured the light, shadows and reflections. You are truly gifted!
Thank you! Cheers!
Really appreciate a tutorial that does not take too long to finish. Looking forward to doing this one.
The colors you mixed give a charming effect on the mood of the painting. A terrific way to illustrate rain falling on the streets. Many thanks to you again for another stunning piece of art and another great Wednesday of watercolor.

Great. I'm glad to be back I became a bit disillusioned with my work, but you have just given a reason to continue. Thanks

This is way above my level but I can't resist giving it a go - the colour is GLORIOUS. And a veritable feast of techniques, too...
Many thanks!
🤩Love it. I admire that the vivid green of the tape doesn´t bother you.
Thank you! 😊 - very kind of you!

Congratulations, with a request for more.
Thanks ... and will do!
Purple gin for the win! Love this scene and eager to give it a go. Thanks!
Thank you

Glad you enjoyed it!
Really liked your direction regarding how each time you did this it came out differently and your group found this piece difficult . Good advice.
Thank you so much!
I love this! I've been doing sketches and studies of rainy day scenes like this recently. Those darker values you applied at the end pulled me right into the scene with more depth, and I love the richness that the washes just before that added.
Glad it was helpful!
Wow. I love the way it really came to life at the end.
Thanks!
Thank you for this wonderful mauve Wednesday tutorial.
Mixing colours and washes are lessons that can never be repeated enough times. Such sure brush strokes. Magical ✨🔮
