- President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos has admitted that the increasing prices of petroleum products is a significant problem that the government cannot control.
To address this urgent matter affecting the transport sector and the economy, Marcos said that his administration may consider implementing a measure that was also carried out during the 1973 oil crisis.

@@gwynenoevealfonso3177 Political control? Are you sure about that? Russia will never benefit in terms of the "Political Control" that you are implying. Mainly because we are very far from their so-called "sphere of influence". I will believe if the commenter said, "China". But Russia? Nah.
The only reason why Russia is trying to invade Ukraine, is mainly because Putin views Ukraine as one of its "underlings" and to not lose the "sphere of influence that they have. They are thinking that they have a legitimate reason and permission in conquering Ukraine (mainly because of many reasons: Ukraine is not a member of NATO, it has very conflicting relations with other EU Countries, etc). So it is not comparable to the Philippines where: Our country is still an ally of US and United Nations, (so if Russia tries to control us by using Oil Importation Agreement, and tries to exploit us, Russia will have more heavy sanctions.)
Always remember, we still belong to the sphere of influence of the United States. (mainly because we are still a democratic country (at the same time, our geographical positioning within the South China Sea is very important for the US Trade, etc.)
Russia had already extended help through their Ambassador.. Even India is getting discounted price for its oil from Russia.. Why not Philippines in these critical times.. Just ignore the US sanctions. They never helped us anyway ever

I know people in this comment is recommending to switch to electric and solar. The problem is that most average filipinos can't afford a cars unless you have families abroad to help pay. Also electric cars are still new to the market and it is quite expensive. Also infrastructure is needed to build electric stations for electric cars. Unless the government is willing to put extra trillion dollars for such project. I dont see transitioning to electric cars anytime soon. Solar is great but it is not enough to power a whole city. We still need nuclear power plants to have more effecient power. I say focus on the current infrastructure plan for now.

And the goverment can use it for emergency uses incase of natural disaster or war the gov't should ask the private petroleum companies in the country to give 3% of crude oil and gas to the philippine national oil company for reserve crude oil atleast threy give something to the gov't just like the USA.

@@Danny-vg7ut There is no way you can directly purchase oil from Russia. You can only purchase it indirectly thru India or China. Why? Because it would be too costly for Russia to send it by ship. Also, you need to be aware of the sanctions from the US. With US sanctions, Ph could not live.

India & China are those that buy Crude oil from Russia at CHEAPER price, I don't see why that is a bad idea, and that we can benefit also from this. it was only the US' idea to implement the sanction since they're not really affected with the fuel restriction from Russia, unlike the rest of European nations

Credit as in to allow some period of time to pay like in an ordinary business to business Credit transactions, say 30 day term or 90 day term. I don't think such suppliers make businesses pay interest? Oil suppliers are not financial institutions.

@@kado3661 can you share the data? I only know about e-bikes, 5 pesos to fully charge, you only need to charge it around 3x a week, so per month that's extra 60 pesos to your electricity bill. St full charge, an E-bike has an average range of 35-40km.

Range of 592km sabihin na nating 450km ang average km per 100kw compare naten with one of most fuel efficient cars today pia picanto 12km/L. A liter of gas today are about 70 to 80 pesos. for a picanto to reach a 450 km range it needs 37.5L which translates to 2625 to 3000 pesos of fuel cost a tesla just needs a thousand pesos. You see....the problem isnt that electricity is more expensive than gas its way more cheaper to run a vehicle on electric the problem is the upront cost of a quality e-vehicles and battery tech specifically on battery life and power density

I believe the new administration have already looked into this. This is also one of the questions raised by jeepney operators whom livelihood may get affected if e-transport is implemented. This will not only consume gov funds but will also take so much time for adjustments.

Why ask for credit on speculated propped up oil price when we can import cheaper oil from Russia. India, China, Germany and other nations who put forward their national interest are importing oil from Russia. BBM needs to put our national interest above by importing oil from Russia and not asking for credit from Western Countries controlled oil corporations higher speculated oil prices which the taxpayers will pay later on. For the sake of Filipinos, Please!🙏
