I've got a good one for the beginners how to steam up a a full size traction engine and operating one to putting it to bed love your videos keep them coming
To anyone sitting on the fence in regards to supporting John on patreon, Ive been happily supporting him since he started his patreon page. The quality and the amount of content he makes available cant be beaten. Id highly recommend doing it because you really are getting value for money, especially compared to other larger youtubers.
Looking forward to seeing some drill sharpening tips. Theres a lot out there on the subject but I recon the John method will prove to be doable and no nonsense .
Love your cooking videos John, especially the ones introduced with the Rockabilly music and especially the Spam recipes, although I know that Deb has to , understandably, be out of the house before you can open a tin of Spam......
I love the idea and the theme behind these Wednesday's Top Tips (no pun intended). An idea i had with regards to the starting theme at the start of your video, i feel it would be fitting and a great idea to use one of your late fathers musical pieces. I believe you used this during the sturart steam engine videos that you mashed up into one video. This would i feel would be a great dedication and an even better honour to have him play.
Thank you for the tip! ...You've cleaned up outside the workshop, and now look what's happened! It must be their trick to get you to keep it that way.😃 ...'Course it does bring the ladies...🤔
Good idea on these videos! I always enjoyed your cooking show but do not understand your love of Spam. It has been a long time since we have seen a Deb cooking show. I like to see her cook up a meal! Let’s get Deb a little more exposure because she is quite humorous and has some great kitchen ideas when cooking that I would like to see. And let’s also mention her welding techniques as a novice! She can throw a nice bead with stick…beter than me!
Really enjoy your videos. Just a gentle suggestion to double check things like the audio before you post them. These videos will have the potential to expand the channel, with people searching for help on specific topics. Sharpen them up, people will subscribe. Good look with 100k and beyond.
Hi John, could you do a video of how to identify threads when you have no idea what it is, and show us how to make your little bench rotary table Love the mid week just wish they was longer All the best
Hi John great video and very useful. I alway struggle at parting off, and snap tools could you do a video on that about set up and speeds etc. many thanks. BBQ looked great Bon appetite Bonny lad 😀
All good and it might be worth adding that if you are not spot on, but still have thread to cut, a slight misalignment won't matter much, i say that to give beginners a little confidence if they have to do it, near enough can sometimes be good enough.
Cracking Video kidda. I've been struggling with a Draper Storm Force 100A flux core 'mig' welder (63669) and some 20 square x 2 thick mild steel section. Any tips on how to dial in the wire feed speed and the Min - Max, 1 - 2 switches would be mint. There is no settings chart on this welder or in the manual, thanks Draper!
Excellent, never knew how to do that. Now a question TIG welding 1mm Aluminium my rtech 210ex on simple setting 75amp will not tack up or weld good, base metal drops as I tack or weld (lap joint), I'm using 1.6 2% Lanthanated with foot-pedal, the arc wanders before a tack is formed, cleaned with acetone & ss wire brush 6-7cup around 8lpm argon 4043A rod, I'm thinking of upping the tungsten to 2.4 so I can grind a sharper tip (lengthways) to get the arc more stable at the tip I'll try 60 degrees instead of 30. A video on that would be nice, as I know you had the same type of machine and watched your rtech vids & Everlast machines which made me buy one a few years back. I was an apprentice welder full time served & even qualified as welding inspector ndt & destructive back in the 80's but have been out of that game for a long long time. Help appreciated with these newer inverter machines, the ones I used back in the day were approx. 2 time the size of a fridge transformers & water-cooled.
Check out your balance setting,I run my thermal arc set around 32 to 35.also if you take the frequency up to around 130hz,it will bring your arc cone in closer so you're not heating such a big area.
@@doubleboost I'm using the standard setting of max 75 amp on 1.6 tungsten rtech easy setup. you say your using max 180amp on 2.4 and you think I'm too hot. still confused.🙂 I ran out of time to practice anymore.
@@adee-H1066 Thank you, I will have a play, I ran out of time before I could start to play with the full machine settings. I guess you have a similar machine.👍
Hi John, Idea for Wednesday Night Video. This video (and last weeks) were cutting BSP threads with the BSW thread form of 55 Deg with radius on crest and root. How would you cut the BSW type thread with a single 55 Deg sharp pointed lathe tool and obtain the correct root diameter as in this (and the other video) a formed insert was used, which has the correct thread height between root and crest for the correct TPI. Surely this tool insert can't be used for other Dia BSW threads with different TPI and thread height?
A different tip is used for each thread pitch . In this video i was using a metric tip cutting 8 TPI . This was just for demonstration purposes .. a nice bold thread that simply is non existent .Well up until now .
You can't cut a radiused root thread form with a basic sharp angled Vee form single point tool. The trick is to grind or stone lap the point of a hand ground tool to conform with the required root radius. The crests can be hand finished with a small single cut file run down the thread while the lathe is running slowly.
Hi John, video was great on the pick up technique. The audio was very bad during the lathe work though, lots of voice ghosting in the background. Microphone issues? Cheers!
I had the audio on auto by mistake . Sound is a very important part of any video . I had intended filming it last night , but a rush job turned up . It was filmed an hour before being uploaded , i had to use what i had .
A quick lesson on hardening and tempering would be brilliant
Thanks John
Useful tip. Many thanks John.

You weren't kidding about the sound John. It sounded like the martians were invading in the background🤣! Good explanation though👍

Thanks for that. How about one about figuring minor diameter and/ or hole sizes for threading non standardized threads?

That sounds way to hot for 1 mill alloy . I use 2.4 blue tungsten up to 180 amp on AC .
