    $285? It's a $50 derailleur I think. Takes 15, maybe 20 minutes to swap out. Why didn't my high school counselor tell me about becoming a bicycle mechanic?

      I was thinking the same thing. Also, if you ride bikes you should be able to replace parts so you don't have to pay for the over priced labor charges. That was like a 5 minute job and like you said maybe a $50 derailleur. Also, it should have been warranted by Trek in the first place!

      Well, sometimes things arent that easy. Im not a bike mechanic, but it took 2 guys 2-3h to fix. They had to take parts from two other bikes in their workshop. They switched some other things too in order to make it all work. Im glad they did so I could move on! Cheers!
