Here is the thought process behind the white dresses. First off, they only play with the jackets on for the first song. Then they take them off, as they are off and running, and take the audience for the ride! But wearing white serves multiple purposes for them: 1. SO THEY CAN BE SEEN. These ladies are short. Until their new bassist joined the band, the tallest person in the band is Miyako, at roughly 5ft. 2in. The shortest is the drummer, Haruna, at 4ft. 8in. If they wore black on stage, with all of the gear and risers and the lights turned down, they would be swallowed up by everything on stage that no one would see them. Wearing white makes them stand out, so not only can they be seen, but by nature, your eyes are always geared towards them. 2. In the western world, metal bands always tend to wear black. Some of that is true in Japan, but metal to them is even farther away than what we have in the western world. If you want to see what "metal" is there, have a look for "visual kei". That what metal more commonly would be in Japan. LoveBites is being metal to that; they are saying "we love NWOBHM. We love Power Metal. We love symphonic metal. We love Thrash. But we also like to walk around, dressed nicely, carrying our Versace or Gucci purse. They are going against the grain in Japan, doing it well, while blowing away almost every single metal band in the world. Besides; they can do it better than most bands, and do it in HEELS.

I wouldn't read into this as their not having fun. They have great stage presence and are mesmerizing as you get to know them better. Every song presents a little differently. You'll see them smiling and moving around a lot. They're amazing live. Asami is a great front woman. Best metal band in the world imho. They are very technical, and pull off that accuracy live. Now about that piano. Miyako, stage left, audience right, is a classically trained pianist, since the age of 3, and later, taught herself guitar. No one in the group embodies this more than Miyako, who you'll rarely see smile on stage (though she does). She's just so trained, so skilled, and so wanting perfection. As others mentioned. They smile a lot. And move around more. This concert may have been during covid, and they had strict rules to follow as well. The dark-haired guitar player is very stoned faced but the rest smile often. Especially the new bassist who joined the group last year. But the dark-haired guitar player is super friendly and smiles a lot and seems the most active on social media. I have heard her not smiling could be a stage persona, or she just dosnt smile during concerts. Not sure which is correct. But again, when talking on the net, she is super nice and respectful. She is always doing, "how to vids" and interacting with fans the most. And she may have been pregnant during this concert. I know one of them she was just not sure which concert. The white military suit only seems to show up in this song. Usually, they wear white prom dress attire. They play piano in several songs. Most prominently in Swan Song with the Chopin intro. The main principles of the band presented by Miho, the founder and first bassist of LOVEBITES, are as follows. ①Heavy metal (basic policy) ②All English lyrics (strategy for global expansion) ③White costumes (Most metal bands wear black costumes, and if these short girls wore black costumes, they would be hidden, so they wear white costumes to contrast and stand out.) ④High heels (to compensate for short height) The white costumes can be dyed in various colors by colored lighting. They wear white outfits and are lit up with colored lights that reflect the themes and genres of their lyrics. The white outfits have an advantage because LOVEBITES' songs incorporate different metal genres and there are many different aspects to their lyrics and music. Miho also thought about the visual on stage. Asami will modify stage lighting effects etc. on-site. For white costumes, each person requests their preferences and ideas from the costume staff.
You have not seen anything yet! This was my first song with Lovebites and I was blown away. This is the first song and the rest of the show gets better. I have found that they react to the serious, funness, and happinees to their songs as they play. Don't take it that they are not having any fun, because these ladies are nothing but. After seeing this concert, check out Knocken at Heavens Gate from March of 2023. After taking some time off and getting a new Bass play, Fami, this two day comeback show will knock you off your feet. The lyrics to the song dont really lend themselves to joy and happiness on stage, hence the para military type costuming.. that immediately changes over the course of the concert. There are 60+ songs, with many smiles, and lots of stage action.. The piano is for the dk haired guitarist, she started piano at age 3, and is a multi gifted viruoso, on piano, or anything with keys, also guitar, bass, drums, and songwriting/singing .. It's the opening song of the concert, at what was probably their biggest show to date, and it was being filmed for a live release. Focus would be pretty important, I'd imagine, until they were warmed up. They definitely have fun, and you do see that in later songs in the concert. They're currently on tour, and both band and crowd have fun from start to finish, so they have evolved over the last few years. Some good recommendations already here for you... We The United, from their official channel, is good for the fun aspect, and Swan Song from this same show will definitely show you why the piano is there. Make sure the video you watch is called "Swan Song (with Chopin intro), or you'll miss much of the reason for the recommendation...
NOTE, you shall not look at Swan song from the same show. You shall look at an older one. The one the explicitly says it has a Chopin intro. VERY IMPORTANT! The takeup of Swan Song on the 2023 concert is technically bad and you cannot almost hear the piano. I think the Lovebites have taken that video down from their site.

They emotionally hinge on first impressions and as a result underestimate and fail to understand the maturity and dexterity of these Ladies as accomplished musicians, who are very particular on the details of their compositions and arrangements. Invoke the previous greats like Blackmore, Iommi and Page: These people hardly ever wanna smile on stage. What more of the fusion and jazz guitarist greats who thrive on complexity. They deliver performance, not hide under a smile.
The main song that uses the piano is Swan Song w/Chopin intro, also in Rising and Edge of the World. Once you watch enough of their live videos, you'll realize their facial expressions and stage movement reflects the tone of the song. Try one of their 'party' songs like Don't Bite the Dust or Raise Some Hell for their more frivolous side. Also, this song is somewhat atypical structure-wise, as they usually have each guitarist solo and then harmonize to finish the solo section. More typical is the song that follows this in the concert, Holy War.
Lovebites will perform in the US for the first time in September. Their US debut is at ProgPower in Atlanta where I will see them, followed by shows in Dallas, LA and San Francisco. ProgPower is a 4 day festival in a single indoor venue that has a capacity of 1000. Twenty-three bands will play over the four days. As one of the headliners, Lovebites gets a full 90 minute set on Friday night. They are currently performing in Europe for the first time since 2019. Thunder Vengeance is a song composed by Miho, the bassist in this video. Although the "sixth member" of the band named Mao is also given credit as a co-composer, my feeling is that this song is all Miho. Thunder Vengeance is the opening track of their third full length album called Electric Pentagram which was released a few weeks before this show. This show was their first time to play Thunder Vengeance in front of an audience. I also believe that this show was the largest non-festival crowd they had ever played in front of. On top of all that, this show was being filmed for a Blu-ray release. I think the nerves got to all of them. After this song, they ditched the jackets and relaxed quite a bit. Because of the pandemic, they only had one more show in 2020 and only three shows in 2021. Thunder Vengeance was played at all 4 of those shows. In the summer of 2021, Miho left Lovebites. Lovebites finally returned to the stage in 2023 with their new bassist, Fami. As far as I know, Lovebites has yet to play Thunder Vengeance again. I personally feel that this song is so identified with Miho that Lovebites might rarely, if ever, play it in the future.
Hi, there. These Japanese women are extremely talented, skillful and exceptional and versatile musicians. Actually they’re having fun but also they’re focusing on playing their instruments, especially Miyako (black hair guitarist). Usually Midori (the other guitarist), Asami (singer) and Haruna (drummer) are the ones that smile from time to time. Their main influences are Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dragonforce, Deep Purple, Helloween, Angra, Yngwie Malmsteen, Slayer, Gary Moore, etc., but they have been developing their own and unique style. Asami used to sing R&B, soul and jazz before she joined the band. Miyako is primarily a concert level classical pianist, trained since 3 years old. Fami replaced Miho (former bassist and founder of the band ) and she has been a shot in the arm for the band; she smiles all the time, as you can attest in the videos of their ongoing European tour (being posted on TH-cam by their fans). Miyako most of the time has a stoic stance but actually she’s introverted and an extraordinary musician. For piano, I recommend “Chopin etude + Swan song” (live, concert “Five of a kind”, Japan, 2020), and for fun “Raise some hell” (live, same concert), or “MDO” (live, “Knocking at heaven’s gate”, Japan, 2023)

It's normal, that they are technical and focussed (especially the stage left dark haired guitarist, who is also the main pianist of the band), but it's not that they don't have fun on stage. The other guitarist is very extroverted, so they are polar opposites (not in real life, they are more like twins). They are on European tour since two weeks, you would like to hear, that they are spreading pure "fun to perform" and to interact with the audience in their concerts. As this was the opener of that epic performance in 2020 and they get off their stiff robes after this song, let's say, the "seriousness" was just for show. But their talent is serious!

Asami's voice throws people of a bit at first quite often, especially in this song for some reason. Me included when I first heard her and their first few songs I heard. Took me about 4 songs to get used to her voice against this kind of music. Now one of my favourite bands, saw them live a few weeks back. If you want to know what that piano is for, check out THIS SPECIFIC VERSION! of the song Swan Song, "LOVEBITES - Swan Song [+Chopin Intro] (Five of a Kind, 21/02/2020)" That's what it's for :) They are primarily thrash and power metal, but did into multiple other subgenres. They change up how the behave on stage depending on the song. However, Miyako, the dark haired guitarist on our right, is known for being really stoic on stage most of the time. They are crazily high level musicians. If you want to see them having more fun, "LOVEBITES - Raise some Hell (Five of a Kind, 21/02/2020)" which is a song later in this same set. They have blistering dual guitar solos followed by duets in most of their songs. Both lead guitarists absolutely shred. Some of the most intense solos are in "LOVEBITES / Judgement Day [Official Live Video taken from "Knockin' At Heaven's Gate"]" They certainly have more fun than this in a lot of the lives, however they don't ever go to quite the level with stage antics energy as some bands do. I would absolutely recommend doing 2 - 3 more Lovebites reactions over time to get a feel for them as they have a really high number of very good songs and performances. As you dive into more of Lovebites music, especially their live stuff, you will discover that they tailor their stage presence (movements, expressions, etc) to the lyrical theme of the songs. On songs like this where the lyrical theme is more serious, somber, or militaristic (for lack of a better word), they move around a lot less, and keep pretty serious expressions. On their more uplifting songs like "We the United," and their party anthems like "Scream for Me" and "Raise Some Hell," they are bouncing all over the stage with open smiles (except dark-haired guitarist Miyako, who had a deliberately stone-faced persona throughout 2020 and 2021, before largely dropping it in the post-COVID era). Also, as others have mentioned, the fact that this was the first song of the show, they were all wearing stiletto heels, and they didn't particularly like the restrictiveness of the Sgt. Petter jackets (which they removed after this song), all contributed to their less-than-lively stage presence during this song.
Believe they and the audience are having more fun as you can imagine after this video. I saw them live two weeks ago. The energy level on stage was incredible.
They use that piano mainly for classical and similar music, and yes they play classical music in their heavy metal shows. One of the guitarist is a concert pianist. And yes, she is good. And yes, Lovebites fans loves it.
The lead singer Asami is often described as a female (Japanese) Bruce Dickinson due to her vocal style (perhaps also with a touch of Ronnie James Dio). As you check out more of their catalogue, you'll see that more of their songs fit under the categories of Power Metal and NWOBHM, rather than thrash. Personally, I prefer their thrash songs, but all their songs are great. If you're expecting a certain vocal style based on the music, then the vocals in Anthrax and Megadeth would be closer comparisons than Metallica, Slayer or Testament. Thrash metal with clean vocals is music heaven to my ears.

Also, Lovebites ARE perfectionists. So sometimes they are so focused so they do not have time to bother about their appearance. In particular Miyako, the dark haired guitarist and the piano player, can be kind of stoic. But they do have fun. In particular they do have fun now, which might partly be due to the new bassist, a young virtuoso that seems unable to do anything but smile. BTW - take a look att the stoic Miyakos own channel. This is one of my top 10 maybe top 15 Lovebites songs, The energy, The Precision, The Execution is just so melodic while the song is still very serious. One of their best show openers indeed, they always start their shows Fast & Heavy this one feels the most like Metallica (Kill 'em all) in guitar riffs and solos plus those drums have a very "Motorbreath" feel to it. The Best thing about Lovebites is they are not defined by one song or one performance, they will surprise you every time. You should check out "MDO" from their live performance.

In this show, Five of a Kind in 2020, the piano is expertly utilized in "Swan Song" with the Chopin intro and "Edge of the World". Those are the only two I can think of off the top of my head and I don't believe the video on YT for "Edge of the World" is an official video. I've heard reactors comment before about them "not having fun" especially after watching this song. The jackets come off for the next song. Other that the dark haired guitarist/pianist Miyako, who is usually pretty serious, the others loosen up a bit, particularly during "Raise some Hell".

I understand its only your first song from LOVEBITES, but its a little bit ironic that you point out their lack of smiling, because on average, they smile on stage far more than most metal bands. Some of their songs almost belong in their own music sub-genre called happy, smiley metal. About the piano, Miyako (dark haired guitarist) has been studying the piano since she was 3 years old and is at concert level in her playing. About the white dresses. When Lovebites was touring Europe as Dragonforce's opening act a French metal mag interviewed Asami (singer) about that and her response was, "We are all girls and we don't want to dress like boys. Also we are all small and the white and gold makes it easier to see us on stage." And they ARE smol. They range from 4' 9" (drummer) to 5' 2" dark haired guitarist.
This is a pretty serious and intense song, and doesn't really seem to lend itself well to "having fun" all the time. They have plenty of other songs, like We the United, Dancing With the Devil, etc where they move around a lot more. That said, this song rocks. As for the uniforms, I think they were actually inspired by the Beatles Sgt. Pepper, not My Chemical Romance, though that's actually a good call out too that I hadn't thought of.
Haha, you think that they're struggling? It's clear that you don't know this band. They play every kind of metal on the highest level, you'll see that if you gonna watch more video's of them. One thing about your commentary; don't talk only about dresses or smiles but give a serious comment on several parts of the music if you have the musical knowledge to do that. There are a bunch of songs that use the Piano. One of my favorites is "Frozen Serenade" which has a great live video too. There are some songs where they are all a bit more lively and move around, switch places and yes, also smile^^ The drummer usually always smiles and their new basist, Fami, basically permanently smiles as wide as she physically can :D the guitarist on the left usually moves around a lot, engages with the audience or with other band members. just the guitarist on the left doesn't warm up too quickly. she's the one who also plays the piano and I think she writes a good chunk of the music, like maybe half of it. I know what you are saying about the smiling, but keep in mind MOST heavy metal bands aren't smiling. They are usually angry, shouting, and snarling. It's the genre. However, this was done in 2020, four years ago, and since that time their stage presence has come alive, particularly after Fami joined the band as their new bass player. Fami joined the band in 2022 at the age of 20 and this youngster has re-energized the band to a whole new level. If you watch any of their live performances from their current world tour (2024) they are all smiles and having fun all around.

You are right. But if you extend that 20 years to 40 years, then both Dream Theater and Symphony-X are on par with LOVEBITES musically.
Here is the thought process behind the white dresses. First off, they only play with the jackets on for the first song. Then they take them off, as they are off and running, and take the audience for the ride! But wearing white serves multiple purposes for them:
1. SO THEY CAN BE SEEN. These ladies are short. Until their new bassist joined the band, the tallest person in the band is Miyako, at roughly 5ft. 2in. The shortest is the drummer, Haruna, at 4ft. 8in. If they wore black on stage, with all of the gear and risers and the lights turned down, they would be swallowed up by everything on stage that no one would see them. Wearing white makes them stand out, so not only can they be seen, but by nature, your eyes are always geared towards them.
2. In the western world, metal bands always tend to wear black. Some of that is true in Japan, but metal to them is even farther away than what we have in the western world. If you want to see what "metal" is there, have a look for "visual kei". That what metal more commonly would be in Japan. LoveBites is being metal to that; they are saying "we love NWOBHM. We love Power Metal. We love symphonic metal. We love Thrash. But we also like to walk around, dressed nicely, carrying our Versace or Gucci purse. They are going against the grain in Japan, doing it well, while blowing away almost every single metal band in the world.
Besides; they can do it better than most bands, and do it in HEELS.

My favorite band in the fricken world! Welcome to Lovebites and the Wolfpack! They absolutely love playing and being up there on stage, and engaging with the crowd. I wouldn't read into this as their not having fun. They have great stage presence and are mesmerizing as you get to know them better. Every song presents a little differently. You'll see them smiling and moving around a lot. They're amazing live. Asami is a great front woman. Best metal band in the world imho. They are very technical, and pull off that accuracy live.
Now about that piano. Miyako, stage left, audience right, is a classically trained pianist, since the age of 3, and later, taught herself guitar. If you want to see one of the songs that uses that piano from this show (they use the piano a few times each show, sometimes briefly to open, sometimes a full-on piece), you really have to see Swan Song (with the Chopin intro) th-cam.com/video/WBhtqgiXEA4/w-d-xo.html Issue is this song will not change your mind regarding no one smiling - they're very serious in this one - really into their craft. As others mentioned. They smile a lot. And move around more. This concert may have been during covid, and they had strict rules to follow as well. The dark-haired guitar player is very stoned faced but the rest smile often. Especially the new bassist who joined the group last year. But the dark-haired guitar player is super friendly and smiles a lot and seems the most active on social media. I have heard her not smiling could be a stage persona, or she just dosnt smile during concerts. Not sure which is correct. But again, when talking on the net, she is super nice and respectful. She is always doing, "how to vids" and interacting with fans the most. And she may have been pregnant during this concert. I know one of them she was just not sure which concert.
The white military suit only seems to show up in this song. Usually, they wear white prom dress attire. They play piano in several songs. Most prominently in Swan Song with the Chopin intro. There are two versions of that song. Make sure you choose the achopin intro version.

❤️LOVEBITES❤️ was formed in 2016 by Miho(Ba) and Haruna(Dr), members of the band "DESTROSE", which went on hiatus in 2015.
The girls made their major label debut in 2017 (March 24) with "THE LOVEBITES EP".
On 11 June 2018, LOVEBITES won '🏆BEST NEW BAND' at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods 2018 awards organised by the British metal magazine METAL HAMMER.
On 4 August, LOVEBITES performed on the W.E.T stage at WACKEN OPEN AIR 2018, one of the world's largest annual metal festivals in Germany, with the 10,000 capacity venue almost full.
"Bloodstack open air 2018(Aug. 10)" also participated.
On August 20,2018, LOVEBITES announced that it has partnered with X-ray Touring, one of the largest players in the UK booking agent industry.
LOVEBITES toured the Netherlands, Germany, France and UK from November 13-21, 2018.
Asami (Vo) of LOVEBITES appeared as a guest on stage at Halestorm "Download Japan 2019(March 21)", singing alongside "Lzzy" Hale on Halestorm's 'Love Bites', which gave the band their name.
LOVEBITES performed as a support band for "Arch Enemy's China tour at the Shanghai show on March 23 and the Beijing show on March 24, 2019".

Japan experienced a band boom about 50 years ago, and today there are more than 100 groups of female bands alone, with LOVEBITE being one of the top groups.
Even in the Japanese metal scene, "white" was considered taboo and there was a risk of being rejected by others, but they still chose a white feminine stage costume and made the wolf the symbol of their band, saying, "Even if we are treated like a lone wolf, we will do what we want to do. The main principles of the band presented by Miho, the founder and first bassist of LOVEBITES, are as follows.
①Heavy metal (basic policy)
②All English lyrics (strategy for global expansion)
③White costumes (Most metal bands wear black costumes, and if these short girls wore black costumes, they would be hidden, so they wear white costumes to contrast and stand out.)
④High heels (to compensate for short height)
The white costumes can be dyed in various colors by colored lighting.
They wear white outfits and are lit up with colored lights that reflect the themes and genres of their lyrics.
The white outfits have an advantage because LOVEBITES' songs incorporate different metal genres and there are many different aspects to their lyrics and music.

This was my first song with Lovebites and I was blown away.
This is the first song and the rest of the show gets better. I have found that they react to the serious, funness, and happinees to their songs as they play. Don't take it that they are not having any fun, because these ladies are nothing but.
After seeing this concert, check out Knocken at Heavens Gate from March of 2023. After taking some time off and getting a new Bass play, Fami, this two day comeback show will knock you off your feet. The energy from the band and crowd, the light show, and band interaction is even better as they upped their game.

The lyrics to the song dont really lend themselves to joy and happiness on stage, hence the para military type costuming.. that immediately changes over the course of the concert. There are 60+ songs, with many smiles, and lots of stage action.. The piano is for the dk haired guitarist, she started piano at age 3, and is a multi gifted viruoso, on piano, or anything with keys, also guitar, bass, drums, and songwriting/singing .. It's the opening song of the concert, at what was probably their biggest show to date, and it was being filmed for a live release. Focus would be pretty important, I'd imagine, until they were warmed up. They definitely have fun, and you do see that in later songs in the concert. They're currently on tour, and both band and crowd have fun from start to finish, so they have evolved over the last few years. Some good recommendations already here for you... We The United, from their official channel, is good for the fun aspect, and Swan Song from this same show will definitely show you why the piano is there. Make sure the video you watch is called "Swan Song (with Chopin intro), or you'll miss much of the reason for the recommendation...
NOTE, you shall not look at Swan song from the same show. You shall look at an older one. The one the explicitly says it has a Chopin intro. VERY IMPORTANT! The takeup of Swan Song on the 2023 concert is technically bad and you cannot almost hear the piano. I think the Lovebites have taken that video down from their site.
I guess you are not a musician. It is not fun to show you a smile but it is fun for a musician when you play good music. They are having great fut by playing the finest music. You'll know what they do with the piano with Swan Song + Revolutionary Etude. They'll show you more on piano than a smile. Rising is another way of piano in use. They emotionally hinge on first impressions and as a result underestimate and fail to understand the maturity and dexterity of these Ladies as accomplished musicians, who are very particular on the details of their compositions and arrangements. Invoke the previous greats like Blackmore, Iommi and Page: These people hardly ever wanna smile on stage. What more of the fusion and jazz guitarist greats who thrive on complexity. They deliver performance, not hide under a smile.

The main song that uses the piano is Swan Song w/Chopin intro, also in Rising and Edge of the World. Once you watch enough of their live videos, you'll realize their facial expressions and stage movement reflects the tone of the song. Try one of their 'party' songs like Don't Bite the Dust or Raise Some Hell for their more frivolous side. Also, this song is somewhat atypical structure-wise, as they usually have each guitarist solo and then harmonize to finish the solo section. More typical is the song that follows this in the concert, Holy War.

Lovebites will perform in the US for the first time in September. Their US debut is at ProgPower in Atlanta where I will see them, followed by shows in Dallas, LA and San Francisco. ProgPower is a 4 day festival in a single indoor venue that has a capacity of 1000. Twenty-three bands will play over the four days. As one of the headliners, Lovebites gets a full 90 minute set on Friday night. They are currently performing in Europe for the first time since 2019.
Thunder Vengeance is a song composed by Miho, the bassist in this video. Although the "sixth member" of the band named Mao is also given credit as a co-composer, my feeling is that this song is all Miho. Thunder Vengeance is the opening track of their third full length album called Electric Pentagram which was released a few weeks before this show. This show was their first time to play Thunder Vengeance in front of an audience. I also believe that this show was the largest non-festival crowd they had ever played in front of. On top of all that, this show was being filmed for a Blu-ray release. I think the nerves got to all of them. After this song, they ditched the jackets and relaxed quite a bit.
Because of the pandemic, they only had one more show in 2020 and only three shows in 2021. Thunder Vengeance was played at all 4 of those shows. In the summer of 2021, Miho left Lovebites. Lovebites finally returned to the stage in 2023 with their new bassist, Fami. As far as I know, Lovebites has yet to play Thunder Vengeance again. I personally feel that this song is so identified with Miho that Lovebites might rarely, if ever, play it in the future.

These Japanese women are extremely talented, skillful and exceptional and versatile musicians. Actually they’re having fun but also they’re focusing on playing their instruments, especially Miyako (black hair guitarist). Usually Midori (the other guitarist), Asami (singer) and Haruna (drummer) are the ones that smile from time to time. Their main influences are Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dragonforce, Deep Purple, Helloween, Angra, Yngwie Malmsteen, Slayer, Gary Moore, etc., but they have been developing their own and unique style. Asami used to sing R&B, soul and jazz before she joined the band. Miyako is primarily a concert level classical pianist, trained since 3 years old. Fami replaced Miho (former bassist and founder of the band ) and she has been a shot in the arm for the band; she smiles all the time, as you can attest in the videos of their ongoing European tour (being posted on TH-cam by their fans). Miyako most of the time has a stoic stance but actually she’s introverted and an extraordinary musician. For piano, I recommend “Chopin etude + Swan song” (live, concert “Five of a kind”, Japan, 2020), and for fun “Raise some hell” (live, same concert), or “MDO” (live, “Knocking at heaven’s gate”, Japan, 2023)

It's normal, that they are technical and focussed (especially the stage left dark haired guitarist, who is also the main pianist of the band), but it's not that they don't have fun on stage. The other guitarist is very extroverted, so they are polar opposites (not in real life, they are more like twins). They are on European tour since two weeks, you would like to hear, that they are spreading pure "fun to perform" and to interact with the audience in their concerts. As this was the opener of that epic performance in 2020 and they get off their stiff robes after this song, let's say, the "seriousness" was just for show. But their talent is serious!

They are primarily thrash and power metal, but did into multiple other subgenres.
They change up how the behave on stage depending on the song. However, Miyako, the dark haired guitarist on our right, is known for being really stoic on stage most of the time. They are crazily high level musicians.
If you want to see them having more fun, "LOVEBITES - Raise some Hell (Five of a Kind, 21/02/2020)" which is a song later in this same set.
They have blistering dual guitar solos followed by duets in most of their songs. Both lead guitarists absolutely shred.
Some of the most intense solos are in "LOVEBITES / Judgement Day [Official Live Video taken from "Knockin' At Heaven's Gate"]"
They certainly have more fun than this in a lot of the lives, however they don't ever go to quite the level with stage antics energy as some bands do.
I would absolutely recommend doing 2 - 3 more Lovebites reactions over time to get a feel for them as they have a really high number of very good songs and performances.

As you dive into more of Lovebites music, especially their live stuff, you will discover that they tailor their stage presence (movements, expressions, etc) to the lyrical theme of the songs. On songs like this where the lyrical theme is more serious, somber, or militaristic (for lack of a better word), they move around a lot less, and keep pretty serious expressions. On their more uplifting songs like "We the United," and their party anthems like "Scream for Me" and "Raise Some Hell," they are bouncing all over the stage with open smiles (except dark-haired guitarist Miyako, who had a deliberately stone-faced persona throughout 2020 and 2021, before largely dropping it in the post-COVID era). Also, as others have mentioned, the fact that this was the first song of the show, they were all wearing stiletto heels, and they didn't particularly like the restrictiveness of the Sgt. Petter jackets (which they removed after this song), all contributed to their less-than-lively stage presence during this song.
Believe they and the audience are having more fun as you can imagine after this video. I saw them live two weeks ago. The energy level on stage was incredible.
They use that piano mainly for classical and similar music, and yes they play classical music in their heavy metal shows. One of the guitarist is a concert pianist. And yes, she is good. And yes, Lovebites fans loves it.

The lead singer Asami is often described as a female (Japanese) Bruce Dickinson due to her vocal style (perhaps also with a touch of Ronnie James Dio). As you check out more of their catalogue, you'll see that more of their songs fit under the categories of Power Metal and NWOBHM, rather than thrash. Personally, I prefer their thrash songs, but all their songs are great. If you're expecting a certain vocal style based on the music, then the vocals in Anthrax and Megadeth would be closer comparisons than Metallica, Slayer or Testament. Thrash metal with clean vocals is music heaven to my ears.
If you want to see Miyako play piano, then three songs that comes to mind are "Swan Song with Chopin Intro", "Lost in the Garden with La Campanella" and "A frozen Serenade". But there are more. The first and the last one are standard listening, but the middle one is also good. The last one is my favorite.
They are having fun - I promise you. They love this. Its just that this song is kind of serious!
Also, Lovebites ARE perfectionists. So sometimes they are so focused so they do not have time to bother about their appearance. In particular Miyako, the dark haired guitarist and the piano player, can be kind of stoic. But they do have fun. In particular they do have fun now, which might partly be due to the new bassist, a young virtuoso that seems unable to do anything but smile. BTW - take a look att the stoic Miyakos own channel. This is one of my top 10 maybe top 15 Lovebites songs, The energy, The Precision, The Execution is just so melodic while the song is still very serious. One of their best show openers indeed, they always start their shows Fast & Heavy this one feels the most like Metallica (Kill 'em all) in guitar riffs and solos plus those drums have a very "Motorbreath" feel to it. The Best thing about Lovebites is they are not defined by one song or one performance, they will surprise you every time.

In this show, Five of a Kind in 2020, the piano is expertly utilized in "Swan Song" with the Chopin intro and "Edge of the World". Those are the only two I can think of off the top of my head and I don't believe the video on YT for "Edge of the World" is an official video. I've heard reactors comment before about them "not having fun" especially after watching this song. The jackets come off for the next song. Other that the dark haired guitarist/pianist Miyako, who is usually pretty serious, the others loosen up a bit, particularly during "Raise some Hell".

Please please please do not base your impression on Lovebites (or any band/artist) on just one song. I think that it sometimes takes 3 or 4 songs (preferably MV and live) to get a better feel for an artist. Sometimes one song will not jive or just rub you the wrong way, but a different song will blow you away. Lovebites has many different types of songs:

I understand its only your first song from LOVEBITES, but its a little bit ironic that you point out their lack of smiling, because on average, they smile on stage far more than most metal bands. Miyako (dark haired guitarist) rarely smiles on stage, but she is a musical genius which is a lot more important to me.
About the piano, Miyako (dark haired guitarist) has been studying the piano since she was 3 years old and is at concert level in her playing.
About the white dresses. When Lovebites was touring Europe as Dragonforce's opening act a French metal mag interviewed Asami (singer) about that and her response was, "We are all girls and we don't want to dress like boys. Also we are all small and the white and gold makes it easier to see us on stage." And they ARE smol. They range from 4' 9" (drummer) to 5' 2" dark haired guitarist.

This is a pretty serious and intense song, and doesn't really seem to lend itself well to "having fun" all the time. They have plenty of other songs, like We the United, Dancing With the Devil, etc where they move around a lot more. That said, this song rocks.
As for the uniforms, I think they were actually inspired by the Beatles Sgt. Pepper, not My Chemical Romance, though that's actually a good call out too that I hadn't thought of.

Haha, you think that they're struggling? It's clear that you don't know this band. They play every kind of metal on the highest level, you'll see that if you gonna watch more video's of them. One thing about your commentary; don't talk only about dresses or smiles but give a serious comment on several parts of the music if you have the musical knowledge to do that. The music is the most important part after all.

There are a bunch of songs that use the Piano. One of my favorites is "Frozen Serenade" which has a great live video too.
There are some songs where they are all a bit more lively and move around, switch places and yes, also smile^^ The drummer usually always smiles and their new basist, Fami, basically permanently smiles as wide as she physically can :D the guitarist on the left usually moves around a lot, engages with the audience or with other band members. just the guitarist on the left doesn't warm up too quickly. she's the one who also plays the piano and I think she writes a good chunk of the music, like maybe half of it.
This is not the video I would've started your journey with^^ most people's first song is "Holy War" live or one off of the latest album like "Judgement Day" or "Stand and Deliver".
One last thing, if you're looking for a band that ALWAYS looks like they are having the absolute best time of their lives playing live, check out NEMOPHILA. Also japanese female metal, but covering a broader range of metal sub-genres, both in their own music (3 studio albums) as well as in a long list of covers that they did on their youtube channel.

They play Eclectic Metal. It means they blend as the first band in history all kind of metal mainly power and thrash with NWOBHM,
heavy metal, symphonic metal, speed metal,hair metal, hard rock, rock, rock'n'roll, jazz, progressive pieces, funk and even punk. I know what you are saying about the smiling, but keep in mind MOST heavy metal bands aren't smiling. They are usually angry, shouting, and snarling. It's the genre. However, this was done in 2020, four years ago, and since that time their stage presence has come alive, particularly after Fami joined the band as their new bass player. Fami joined the band in 2022 at the age of 20 and this youngster has re-energized the band to a whole new level. If you watch any of their live performances from their current world tour (2024) they are all smiles and having fun all around.
