Ban smog on all vehicles!! Let’s do it! It’s many other causes for smog life factories, manufacturing, hazmat disposal. Cars are just used as a scapegoat so big companies get away with more
How about you just start by outlawing your offspring, it’s insane how stupid people have become this is supposed to be a free country but commies always want more
Yep. It's all about control, end of story! When everyone is in a newer car, then what? They'll just find yet another excuse to regulate something! Remember when they asked you not to charge your EV? With the new cars, they WILL tell you how/when to use them! And now they can enforce that! WAKE UP people! These crooks ArE NOT your friend!
True... if you are to be considered a Good Liberal Socialist, you need to ride a bus everyday.! Not, the Gavin's of course, cuz' that just don't work for them, but you... you need to understand what you are doing to the environment... Lol
The democrat party nationally and especially in California are trying to ban using fossil fuels, whether it be to power a vehicle, generate electricity or heat your home and cook your food.
That's old-fashioned. Why don't you convert your 1959 Chevrolet Impala into an electric car? That way, you can have the Impala Exactly the way you wanted, but with the sound exactly as it is. But under the hood underneath the engine would be an electric motor. No need to sacrifice your car.
@@SKULLTHEWIZARD Converting a classic IC car into an electric car means the vehicle is no longer worth anything to collectors, for reasons that are obvious to anyone with a shred of common sense but probably not to you. I swear you anti-ICV activists are as stupid as civilian disarmament activists.
They will not completely ban your classic car, what they will do is make it illegal for the car to be used for anything but parades and car shows. The complicit police will just stop you every time you take out your car and you will need to provide the venue at which your car is going to be at, if you do not have one then they will ticket you or impound your car. I am sure that they will ban classic cars from certain cities during the work week too. They will just make it impossible for you to enjoy your car. BTW the ultimate goal is to have you "Neanderthals" that still cling to your guns, bibles, and gasoline powered cars leave the state, if you own a classic car you are obviously not on the woke crowd and vote the wrong way, so just leave and don't come back... they do not want you there.
Is there is it that many carbureted cars left anyway they're not driven daily they're classic cars that are mostly parked in the garage most muscle cars at fuel injected nowadays anyway so stop with your Delusional, Democrat ideas
@@walterwhite1In your mind Tesla is king, But in reality, People are dumping the unreliable fire bombs... Try selling a EV, it virtually impossible.. Nobody wants them..
They will build in some exception for large collectors with mile per year limits or some crap to protect their buddies, just like panera and the minimum wage hike.
I don't like the idea of the federal government usurping state law that isn't unconstitutional, if you don't like the laws of your state...move...that's the whole idea behind the US being made up of states.
@@DreDresChaptersThe air in CA is more polluted by wildfires than emissions, and those wildfires frequently prove to be arson. CA’s largest wildfire was started by a liberal college professor… why? Perhaps the only way to push the Green New Agenda on the masses is to bully and intimidate us? They also target the conservative neighborhoods… the rural areas with the fires. Same people get hammered repeatedly. Proper maintenance of forests and less arsonists would alleviate much of that problem. But it’s used to push the Globalist agendas, and our freedoms are the price we pay. If we fight back legally, they attack with modern forms of terrorism and guerrilla warfare, and they literally go scorched earth on us.
We need to contact pertinent people who will be filling appropriate positions of power in the coming administration. If we reach out NOW… before they get to Washington… they will be easier to reach. (For instance, if you call Gov. Christie Noem, you can speak to and leave messages with a live person who will relay your message to her, and it will probably actually GET to her. South Dakota is still conservative and old fashioned enough to actually employ real people rather than answering machines/ computers, and algorithms to scan and determine which messages have merit. Not to say, live people can’t do that, but live people are easier to hold accountable for their actions, and it is also easier to determine by their response, if they are likely to ensure the message reaches the person intended. In the case of Christy Noem’s office, I called and was greeted quite cheerfully, and my message was received joyfully. In this instance, we should reach out to Sean Duffy… see if we can connect on social media and or directly. Since he is Trump’s pick for Dept of Transportation Secretary, we need to reach him with all our concerns. EV’s are actually worse on the environment than combustion engines, as the mining for the materials to produce them will devastate even more of our rapidly shrinking virgin land where fragile biomes support endangered wildlife. Also, as mentioned in this video, disposal of EV’s is not as environmentally friendly as conventional automobiles, which are highly recyclable. Also, not even addressing, is the fact that combustion engine vehicles CAN be retro fitted with engines that use alternative fuels which are more eco friendly and sustainable, so the push to replace proves itself to be what it is … a two pronged agenda, attacking our freedoms and our finances while simultaneously enriching those who have a vested interest in EV’s or the minerals used to produce them.
@@battleshipiowa These vomit liberals here in Kalifornia are using their super majority to force this state to go completely electric. There are currently laws on the books that force commercial truckers to get rid of their older rigs and buy new rigs with more emission controls. This forced many small operators out of busines or out of state. During the pandemic, we didn't have enough trucks that were licensed in this state to service the ports and cargo to the rest of the country got backed up! And this state is forcing everyone to go battery by 2035 - no new internal combustion engine vehicles will be allowed to be sold in this state! Absolute insanity ! ! !
Ove had long winded arguments about this exactly. "Why do you need a gun". "Why do you need 600 hp?". "It's not the same!" Perhaps. But the legalese used is the same.

Your 65 mustang is a problem but cooking tacos on the sidewalk is perfectly fine. They already made many diesel trucks illegal that were purchased legally in California.
@joaquinalexander9 That's cheap it must have been regular and Arco. I never run Arco and have to run premium. I get 13 and 15 mpg with my Plum Crazy Challenger.
It's not the late 70's anymore... You are not in Kansas anymore. The hot rodders are irrelevant. Look, they let Elon Musk leave with Tesla, which brought in hundreds of millions of tax dollars, do you think that hot rodders matter? They want anyone that does not think like them to leave the state. Think about what they have done and how many people have left. Every election the Democrat Party cements their power over California more and more. How? by passing all these laws that people that vote the "wrong way" cannot stand and it forces them to leave. Everything that has happened in California has happened on purpose and everything is going exactly as planned.
Problem is today we have millennials and Gen Z that don't understand classic cars. If it doesn't operate like a Tesla they don't know what to do with a classic car.
CARB, Coastal Commission, Solid Waste Management Board. All of these are homes for “termed-out” legislators. They need to justify their 200K+ salaries. We drive cars we can afford.
You can likely believe the title of this video. If you live in California, you can't even order Headers from Summit Racing Equipment in Sparks, Nevada. CARB says every aftermarket part entering the State MUST have a E.O. number which THEY assign. In addition, I just went to a vehicle Registration store to Register my 1975 Truck and I was told..... "Sir, my computer says your Truck wss JUNKED". Funny how I just closed the garage and saw it 15 minutes prior. The DMV in Sacramento is LYING and BREAKING LAW.
I have a 65 Dart and if anyone sends me anything asking me how often I drive my car is is none of anyones business Nobody can make us give up driving our cars anytime we want to let's drive them more often screw them😮
I followed this closely years ago. There used to be a California Inspection Maintenance and Review Committee, that did an air quality study every two years. I believe it was disbanded in either 2009 or 2011, but the last report done specifically stated that the total number of pre ‘76 vehicles on any given day amounted to less that .5% of the vehicles on the road. And that the removal of them would have an insignificant impact on air quality, none. That study and related information was available on line, but now seems to have disappeared. But regardless, the study was done and that information exists somewhere.
and is probably less then .5% now because as time goes on, people crash em, sell them out of state or country. The price of a classic just from the junk yard has gone from 2000 to 20,000 because they're so much rarer now.
I was with the crowd on moving the emissions exemption up to 1983 which is catalyst cars and later. But in reality if it is not OBD2 then they can’t really check the system so we should exempt all cars in California from emissions OBD1 and older as the overall emissions from those cars vs the registrations is a no brainer. I own a few 60s and 70s cars, say 5 of them cumulatively drive around 5,000 miles combined on long distance rallies in a year. The 76-95 cars won’t go much further in a year. I have a 79 Porsche turbo and 78 VW camper that I’m terrified to emissions test after restoration, might register them in Montana. They keep looking for further way to reduce emissions and the classic cars are an easy target but not a major solution. I guarantee my 50-60yr old Porsches will outlast all Teslas, true recycling, true sustainability, total rebuildability!
To register them, all they have to do is meet the standards they were required to meet when they were new. If they are in such poor condition they can't meet those standards, or worse yet, you have made modifications to defeat the factory smog equipment, then, yes, they should not be operated for obvious reasons.
@ ok scientist Geotpf let me explain car guy reality to you #1 you can’t keep some of these cars running the way they were when they were new because parts are not available anymore and California worn’t approve aftermarket emissions parts. #2 The emissions reduction equipment from the 1970s is GARBAGE, they didn’t know what they were doing, the science was very new - the purpose of a Thermal Reactor on a 70s car was to super heat to 1200 degrees to burn off the extra emissions, sound good to you? WRONG superheating exhaust gas creates the 3rd poisonous gas NOx which wasn’t removed till we came up with catalysts. So in reality the removal of a super heat sink attached to your engine not only adds longevity to the car but is actually cleaner than keeping that equipment. #3 California state is so damn strict and unforgiving that they seize expensive emissions equipment and personally fine the operator of said equipment if they feel foul play was done, therefore most shops will not allow pre-tests or even run tests on old cars 76-80s because there have been cases of an old car getting a smog test for registration, passing, then going on the road when some emissions part breaks - the car is stopped at a roadside emissions test where the car fails so they looks up the last shop on the emissions certification - the state comes in, seizes the $100,000 emissions test equipment at the shop and fines the employee $10,000 all for destroying the environment. Sound reasonable to you? Makes more sense on 1996 OBD2 cars with reasonable emissions equipment but makes no sense on antique equipment that drives a few hundred miles per year. Or is it you know nothing about old cars just like the government?
I'm seventy and I'm glad that there are younger people that appreciate classic cars and trucks. I got a big block 454 under the hood of my 73 Chevy El Camino. So tired of the government negatively affecting the lives of the middle class and poor people. I lost my 68 Chevy S20 3/4 ton pickup because of the smog laws they had in the late eighties. Because of the law being changed during Schwarzenegger's governorship, I'm glad I don't have to smog my Elco in California these days. Still damned angry about how they keep attacking our cars when they only cause 26% of the air pollution. And after all, why does it even matter in this country while other countries are doing most of the polluting?
I watch the classic shows from the 60's to the 80's that are based in California. Fast cars, beautiful women and manly men. So cool and now so on the way out (or already gone). It's just pathetic.
With all the corruption (Newsom is related to Nancy Palosi btw) and new voters from the 3rd world they have the system will have to break down, collapse and reset before it’s out of libtards control. Same goes for anywhere else in this country. 19th amendment was a mistake. How does a governor have a recall election against him and then win the election without corruption
We are all tired of CARB. What they did made a huge difference back in the smoggy brown sky days of 40-50 years ago, but now most new vehicles barely pollute, so as a result traffic-related air pollution is hardly noticeable in most of California. I guess they did their job, so why are some of those old burdensome rules still needed? They should be relaxed a bit.
A "buy back" program would never work. First off, the cars weren't their's to start with. Plus, your $30,000 car, you would be offered $5,000. And if you deny it, they will demand you destroy the car. They are trying this same thing with pew pew items. And they can't pass that either because they know it's wrong. Thanks for the video. Love this channel. Side note, I like the color combo on your house. The natural wood trim really pops. Looks good
Bottom line is we need to vote out every progressive liberal democrat from office, starting with Newsome. Ca is poised for a Republican comeback with Trump in office, hopefully he and Musk will pump billions into conservative candidates over the next four years and turn Ca red!
Well I don't think ,(so goes California so goes the nation ) would be correct . We the other 49 states don't think much of Cali and it's own problems . Very overrated state . Car culture here in the Southern states in much bigger and better. .No C.A.R.B b/s
@@MikeFrankovich with all due respect, CARB, writes all the emissions standards for vehicles in the United States. That’s why if you buy a car in any other state, it has California emissions on it. The feds follow CARB. Joe Biden signed a bill it was called the federal Clean Air Act (easy to lookup).
@@roguewarr4662 The saying is true, whether we are talking about immigration, emission laws, narcotics, homeless epidemics or environmental regulations the entire country ends up following California's lead It's been that way since probably the 1960s. I am a lifelong California resident of 46 years and I'm a huge classic car fan owning literally eight cars that are all 30 plus years old (If I could afford more I would have more) this state is absolutely hostile to the classic car hobby and arguably there is a certain political party over the last 30 years has became really hostile to the classic car hobby and almost all of them use California as their model or they directly follow California air resource board regulations and standards.
@@AtomicReverend It's because of California we have such emission laws ,but nothing else . Nothing here in FLORIDA has changed in the 40 plus years that was mandated from California .We don't even have state run smog testing or even vehicle safety checks . Been to Cali twice and not impressed with over priced over populated ,very high home prices .Hot Rodding is very much apart now and the past in Florida with out California influences . guess we beg to differ.
What bothers me more than anything even if I flee California which I think I'm about ready to flee 140 years my family has been in the state but the state is hostile. Anyways what bothers me the most is the old saying usually is true "as goes California soon goes the nation". We got to stop this over regulatory state.
If you have to flee we will accept you in Nevada. We meet with our classic cars every Saturday night in a big parking lot. The invite is always open to you

New cars, especially electric cars, are quite possible the worst thing for the environment. They have a shelf life and are essentially disposable. Cuba is the blueprint for green transportation. Used cars in that model are assets and never end up in the landfill.
I drove 60 miles from 2023 to 2024 in my 1982 BMW, yet I have to continue have a smog test every other year. The cutoff needs to be upped 10 years to 1985.
No. I remember seeing in 1994 cars in a junkyard in California that had feed. Back carburetor or for VW and Audi feedback mechanical fuel injection. I believe this started in 1980. For cars first registered in California which have these emissions controls the date needs to be frozen to 1980. For Chrysler K cars with the Chrysler engine 1981. For USA model cars 1985.
@ That makes absolutely no sense. That’s exactly why people are fleeing this nanny state. So when my car becomes 65 years old it shouldn’t have to go through this. It needs to be changed to 1985, or reinstate the 30 year rolling exemption.
There is precedence for banning classic cars. Take a look at what the diesel regs did to medium duty trucks and construction vehicles. There was no "buy back" just a ban on registration of vehicles on year of manufacture. If they were to do it, they would probably start with 76-96 (post smog exempt but pre OBD2). Next would be non hybrids from 96 to current. After that, 76 and older.
Mike, Some politicians have no common sense, I love the car culture there in Calif., the weather and so many other things, but the over regulation is so sad. Here in the midwest we have almost none with gas prices around $2.00. I wish the two areas were more similar. Wayne
Hi from SoCal. They have been trying this for years. I can remember having to smog my great-grandparents' 67 Buick when it was driven back to CALIFORNIA from Montana in 1992. It wasn't a CALIFORNIA car and still passed smog. It still would pass today if it needs to.
ok, so two things. First off, many, and I'd even go as far as to say MOST, classic cars, hot rods, vintage cars, are actually as clean or cleaner than many NEW cars. Many have newer transplanted drivetrains that are cleaner than their original they replaced. MOST of these cars are very well taken care of and usually better than their new car siblings used as daily drivers. I am from Nevada, and recently drove to California to do some business (we visit California many times a year for family and other activities). During this trip I was noticing how many new-ish vehicles and commercial vehicles had poor emissions and smoked. Maybe there needs to be better regulation regarding these vehicles that currently REQUIRE smog verification. I saw DOZENS and DOZENS of vehicles that should be and are required to pass smog, that had more issues than any classic car. California need to crack down on those.
My 73 k20 with a 450 hp 454 burns cleaner that a 90s truck with a 454, and we've tested it. Theres 4 boxes to liberty, California is just about on the last box.
From $6K to $73K that's the minimum range of profit return every week I thinks it's not a bad one for me, now I have enough to pay bills and take care of my family.

Experted Ann Marie strunk was my hope during the 'bear summer' last year. I did so many mistakes but also learned so much from it, and of course from Maria strunk.
Just sold a property in Alaska and I'm thinking to put the cash in stocks, I know everyone is saying it's ripe but Is this a time to buy stocks? How long until a full recovery? How are other people in the same market raking in over $450k gains within months, I'm really just confused at this point.
You're absolutely right about the impact of this CARB scheme. My company (a commercial service company) adds a fuel surcharge to our bills every time gas goes over $5 a gallon. The merchants pass higher costs on to the consumer. As far as outlawing classic cars. What they would do is the same thing they did with diesel trucks, just outlaw them and let the owners figure put what to do.
The carbon footprint a classic car amortized over 30+ years has left behind and even with moderate future use compared to a new Tesla would be a very interesting study! If I recall, Jay Leno had a tense talk with then Gov Terminator when he got rid of the 25 year rolling rule for smog tests.

Nobody seems to mention the environmental SAVINGS driving an older, or classic vehicle creates. i.e. I drive daily a 1997 model year vehicle. In doing so, there has been 27, yes twenty seven, vehicles that have not had to be built for me. That comparison is to the person that buys a new daily driver every year. The astronomical amount of pollution I save the planet I should be collecting carbon tax dollars in the thousands. To give you a small idea of the pollution building one new vehicle creates in one phase of its construction...it takes 60,000 gallons of clean, (potable clean), water to build ONE automobile.
My 58 Chevy fleet side. Has a 85 for bolt small small block Chevy that’s been rebuilt. 74 turbo 400. And a 74 GM A body chassis. It is my daily driver. This vehicles been more than dependable. I would hate to be forced to not drive it. And purchase something new. I believe new cars are crap. I’ve been a professional mechanic since 2001. There’s a very small number of newer vehicles that I would even consider purchasing.
I have lived in Riverside, California all my life. I was a child in the 1980s. I remember how polluted the air here was back then. I am grateful for the smog controls that have made the air much, much cleaner today. The number of deaths and illnesses such laws have prevented is probably in the millions. That being said, nobody is going to take away or ban existing classic cars. As pointed out in the video, most are not driven on a regular basis and are relatively few in number and all studies show that they are not a big portion of the remaining air pollution in California, with the possible exception of somewhat newer vehicles that have had their early smog controls damaged or defeated.
I recently contacted SEMA to ask them what they were doing about this! I did get a response that they were trying to get someone to sponsor in the Legislature.
Why do they bother shaking the tree with classic cars. If they really wanted to fix something they would not require the same 15% of the cars required to get a smog every two years and cover cars that have not had to pass an emictions test in more than five years. I know people that have not had a test in over ten years and they drive far more miles per year than I do. I am not complaining, I just think we should mix it up a little more. Perhaps some one should do a "study" on that before messing with my classic.
My thoughts. This is called the people’s republic of Cali. and as long as Newsom and his crony’s are in local government and don’t get voted out, well you know.
I live in L.A. and rarely see classic cars in everyday driving, which is a good thing. Almost every time I'm out driving there's an accident because of selfish, moronic behavior. It's not unusual for me to see 3 accident scenes during the day within a 6-7 mile radius. If I had a beautiful vintage classic car, I absolutely would not want to subject it to risk. Extremely dangerous regardless of how careful you are.
You don't see classic cars in these crazy smoking tire screeching street take overs. We value our vehicles too highly. We take enough chances just driving them to a car show or local weekend donut meet up.
@@patrickmackle2342 Oh God yes! Are you in Ca. also Patrick? Really bad. I don't have a classic car; just my '98 RAV-4 I keep in really good running shape. I just want something to get me from A to B. Hate driving now, want to be in the car as little as possible. I have a really great collection of 1:18 diecast cars though, because I still love classic cars, and can own them via that route. As far as going to a new car show goes, 'f' that. I'll still give it a quick look online, but that's it. As far as car magazines go, used to get Car & Driver and Motor Trend, but stopped around '98. I can't even be bothered to pick one up and look through it when I'm in the store. Very sad, but that's reality now.
Pastor Jack Hibbs of Calvary Chapel commented this last Sunday that he went to a resturant and noticed all the electric cars in the charginging stations and they were reading books because it takes time to charge them . A big diesel ford truck parked in a charging station because of the lack of parking . He went inside ordered and ate his meal and then whent back out to his truck to leave seeing the same people reading books waiting for their car still being charged .
Hemmings has a great article on this issue. I encourage all your followers to read it.... c.a.r.b is on the record stating it merely a study & if anything pre-1968 will not be affected....

What CARB should stand for: Classics Are Really Beautiful

Big time. It sucks man. I've been voting blue for decades but they're wearing thin.

Right now I think pre-1996 makes the most sense.
@ Yeah no doubt. Thanks for the update. I subscribed to your channel.
NEWSCUM!!! YOUR FIREDD!!!
After that, 76 and older.

ok, so two things.

THIS IS IN CANADA ALSO MY FRIENDS HAS A 1963 CHEVROLET IMPALA SUPERSPORT 327CID 300HP 4 SPEED 3:08 POSS REAREND GEARS AND EXTREMELY REALLY REAR FINDING THESE STILL IN THE FAMILY THERE NOT TOUCHING THAT 63 SS IT'S BELONGS IN THE FAMILY UNTIL TIME

My 1995 Jeep is my back up for emergencies😝"parades"
We live in a police state😠Pure evil what Calif has done to classic cars🤬
Just get rid of smog altogether
Thank you for your service
You're welcome
I've noticed that some smog stations are only doing 1999+ cars. My 82 till needs to be smogged with the rollers.
These machines are always broke and unreliable🛑STOP the smog check on cars under year 2000
Yep had that issue with my 95 SL500 I finally found one guy that does older cars simple and easy.
Are we still pushing for a year change on smog?
The old bills were never voted on and no new ones have been written.
@MikeFrankovich can we petition?
Who is we?

I recently contacted SEMA to ask them what they were doing about this! I did get a response that they were trying to get someone to sponsor in the Legislature.
There's a new assembly and senate in California, so I hope something can be done.
Thanks for the info !!!!
Thank you for your service. Thank you for keeping people informed. Your unbiased reporting is appreciated. Great report.
Arnold Schwarzenegger stopped the grandfathering of the classic car that would allow the newer classic car to be smog except from what I bin told.
His movie Star friends talked him into it ! I washed my hands of him after that ! It was absolutely the worst thing he ever did in his whole life !
Great job mike! Thanks for the update - I will pass this along to my fellow classic car owners.
Please do!
Back years ago . In NY state , they tried to ban any car over 20 years old , you couldn't drive them on the road , that didn't go over .
Why would people try and ban your classic cars American cars are working works of art and they shud be proud of your auto history
FGN
They tried to ban classic cars 20 years ago here in California
Thank you for what you do for the car hobbyists!
My pleasure!
Thank you for this, Mike! You're my go-to guy for straight talk when it comes to this kind of news. Much appreciated!
No problem
I hardly see them as well. My 96 Toyota t100 got totaled and if I ever get a classic again I’m keeping it in my parking spot
Sheriff Bianco for governor.
He would make California great again.
No, we don't need a coward who got on his knees for blm on camera.
Hemmings has a great article on this issue. I encourage all your followers to read it.... c.a.r.b is on the record stating it merely a study & if anything pre-1968 will not be affected....
Thanks for the info Mike, even though I don’t live in California I was born and raised there 50’s60’s kid until Vietnam along and came back to be stationed in Georgia and have never left but do visit from time to time. I enjoy the car show videos y’all hang in there and fight the good fight for all of us.
Thank you.
I own a 2000 Merc Grand Marquis with 336k miles on it. It is my daily driver and the only car I own. Runs beautiful and is properly maintained. Lucky for me I live in Tennessee.
Gotta vote the good-for-nothing Democrats out
That's never going to happen. The state actually needs a large quake.
