Not to be that guy, why not... the "propellers" aren't propellers, they're ram air turbines (different things - propellers are by definition powered, ram air turbines are by definition not powered and produce power). They're used to power the ECM pods on the EA-6B (remember the dash lol!) Lol I'm that guy
During training be really good at deck landings but not as good at maneuvers and such. Gets you a seat in one of these. It seems these are more difficult to land on a deck than the F-18 and other fighters.
I deployed on the USS Constellation JAN1973 OCT1973 West Pac-Viet Nam for 10 1/2 VAQ 134. It was hot and long days we worked our butt's off keeping the EA6B's in the air.
My Dad finished his career at Grumman at the Milledgeville GA plant working on the Boron wings that kept these fine birds flying for quite a few years past their planned life. I salute you guys that flew them! I wound up a USCG aviator.

Whidbey NAS Squadron’s #500 ship blew up over Juniper Canyon, Pendleton, Oregon 2012 or so.. The crew got out with only one injury. MIRACLE! Umatilla County Emergency Services supported recovery operations for 5 weeks...
If the ship ever gets into San Diego there's a trim and upholstery shop just across the border in TJ that can do some pretty amazing repair work on those A6 dashboards that are all coming apart. Maybe a nice diamond tuck or even a button tuck would look dope.

You really can't have the notion about how large is an aircraft carrier until the very moment you're standing, taking off, or landing on the deck. Man, the sensation of a gargantuan floating object like this, makes you doubtful about the fact you are actually at the sea. Whatever your job in the USN is, naval aviator, deck guy, sailor.....no matter what, that is so unique. US Armed Forces are the very best and always make America a great holly land. Nobody beats America, nobody!

Those are RAM turbines(small powerplants) or devices for measuring weather, wind etc. Not the engines which the actually engines are located underneath the aircaft and exit behind the rear of the fuselage.

Flaps and slats serve the same purpose for both takeoff and landing. Increased lift at slower air speeds, especially in a “dirty” configuration, i.e gear down.
But i think the guys in the back are still pilots flying other things after the prowler passed by. If you really wanna be picky you can fly every aircraft with one pilot because the the 2 one is normaly a backup/Wso/Rso etc etc.
Now imagine Trump mishandling all these priceless assets and treating the US Armed Forces personnel as if they were little children. It will be our worse nightmare, amplified many times.

I was a Wizard 1988-1991. Deployed with them on USS Coral Sea and USS Forrestal. Great to still see the Wizards in action!

James Porter These are EA-6B prowlers. That pod is used for Electronic Warfare. Propellor is simply part of the ram air turbine that powers the pod.
