Hi guys. At 8:19 Matt looks at a brass bell. These are from the Arcosanti Foundry and are called Cosanti bells. New they sell for 100+, vintage is more desirable.

I saw it too. Have one I just listed on eBay now for $129.99 with 7 watchers. Mine is in the original box with papers and is near mint condition. It's one of those things that just has obviously high levels of quality.

The vase is “CUT TO CLEAR RED GLASS” and the design on it is an owl. And the the thing that you called a carafe is called a “TUMBLE-UP” people love them. People are always asking if I have any. Not trying to sound like a know it all 🙄🤣 I love and sell vtg glass pieces in my shop☺️People look for those KEY WORDS.

Currently watching tonight‘s video and I just have to share after seeing the Skid Row shirt. I met them in my hometown when they were here in the 80s to do a concert. Sebastian Bach asked if there was a mall anywhere nearby and if so what was the best taxi service. I literally told him I would drive him to the mall free of charge and I did!!!! We shared a lot of laughs and goofiness~ he was super cool. I will soon be 70 years old and seeing that Tee really took me back to a good memory. I wish that I had kept all of my concert T-shirts.😢
I have a Lane Hope chest got it before I got married from my hubby… back in the day it was sort of a tradition. Been married 37 years!! Glad you bought it 👍🏻

Thank you , Matt for doing the right thing by that young couple! I was feeling bad about "the deal" and then you went back and paid up. I know that this is your livelihood but, having integrity (as you have shown yourself to have) will always get you further, in the long run.
That chest is mid century modern. That chip is nothing to fix. You could sell that for triple or more local. Mid century modern is very popular. You would not want to remove brass leg pieces, though. That's part of what makes the whole piece mid century modern.
Especially if you want to keep it and sell later. I'm glad you went back and picked it up. Great piece. Great buy and price was a steal.
Agree that MCM is still in but even though everything MCM is Mid Century not everything Mid Century is MCM. This Lane chest is not really MCM though its from the same era. MCM is modernist in its design- more streamlined and minimal.

That cut to clear red vase is awesome! The glass on top of the carafe is called a tumble up.
The red vase looks like Czech cut glass red cut to clear. Earlier, possibly late 1800s into the 1900s.. could be newer but the detail makes me think older. . The very cool dancer? appeared to resemble something from the 1920s.. possibly bronze... enameled. but hard to say when one can't touch.. but an area to research. Of course.. by the time I see this you already have, im guessing. 😮😅

Easy fix on the chest. Use wood filler, sand and stain, or you can buy iron on veneer. I LOVE IT. I am a new follower that has been binge watching your content. Make me want to get out an hit some garage sales....something I have never done. LOL Y'all find the coolest stuff.

I got my Lane chest, from my grandmother, when I was 16 and I gave it to my granddaughter when she turned 16.

Sometimes you can get replacement parts from Lane for their cedar chests.
More importantly, if your Lane chest has a latch like this one, which can't be opened from the inside, you need to contact Lane to get a free safety lock, and put it on!

Yay, an hour with my favourite couple. Great finds and sales in this vlog.
You can match the missing veneer and glue it on, fill in the missing parts with a 2 part wood filler and stain it or just leave it as is to show its age. It looks a beautiful piece of furniture.

I absolutely love Matt & Kayla, they are always fair with people. I used to watch other resellers, but it has gotten where I mainly watch them only. Most garage sell resellers just don’t have class like these two.
My mom had a lane cedar chest for over 60 years. Excellent quality.
Lane had a recall on the push button locks.
They were a child safety hazard. Check for replacement locks.

I'm so glad you mentioned the recall, scares me with knowing about the kiddos that have gotten locked in. After the recall most people popped the locking mechanism out.
The bedside water vase is called a tumble up. The red “tiki” vase is an old cut to clear cut glass piece. Both have value.

Lane chests are notorious for damaged corners LOL Not really, but I have had mine now for 51 yrs and over 20 yrs ago I had a wonderful rottie that chewed the corner (same corner lol) and I've never had the heart to repair it because of the memories of how wonderful she was!! Yes, I'm a sentimental old lady

I took care of my Aunt Jo when she had cancer. She had a brand new Lane cedar chest in her closet. Didn't have a thing in it except for the paperwork. It was built in 1955. The year her and Uncle Louis were married, and the year I was born. I have it. I love that smell.
I'm sitting here yelling "Push the button!" BTW, you need to take the paperwork inside the chest and contact Lane. They will send you an easily-installed safety lock, for free, since apparently this owner did not. This is IMPORTANT!
I did for mine. But I also still have original key. It stays locked.

When cleaning CDs or games, do NOT use circular motions. The tracks on the CDs are similar to records and are round. Clean these using a lint free cloth with alcohol wiping in a straight line from the center to the outside along what would be a radius line.

That vase @ 3:18 is called cut to clear, and red is a good colour because vintage ones were made with gold to get the colour red. You need to find out if you can who made it (pattern-wise) as even Baccarat crystal made them and would make it more expensive. Beautiful vase. ❤ The carafe @ 12:36 is called a tumble-up.

My mom had one, but during the harvest fave, they painted it avocado green, and then I had for many years. Somehow it got away from me. Funny I’m yelling here, push the button! 😂
A LOT of furniture got painted avocado green! If anyone ever wants to strip the paint, set your piece is a hard plastic kiddie pool to catch the mess! Tips from my mil :)

When I graduated back in the 80s? We got something with our graduation package for Lane Hope Cedar chest. And I didn't get one but as a gesture. They sent all the girls a small version of the Cedar chest and it looked just like that. And it was so pretty, but it was made for jewelry.And we didn't have to pay for it.And I still have mine and it's from nineteen eighty one

You can buy veneer wood and trim it to fit that chip area. There's videos on TH-cam showing how to do that, then stain to match.
