  • We visited the home and museum of Robert Louis Stevenson, author and hero of Samoa and the Pacific Islands. He was the author of Treasure Island, Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Kidnapped. He was known as the man who stood with Samoans and other islanders in the face of imperialist aggression. His grave and memorial now stand at the top of a mountain overlooking the villages and beautiful Samoan sea.
We enjoyed seeing the beautiful home and then hiking up to his grave. It was beautiful to hike through the rainforest and it was so hot! We were sweating so much.
The next day, we loved going to church. The chapel was right across the street of the beautiful Samoan Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The highlight of the day for Dad was to discover one of his students was serving in Samoa and to be able to go and see her.
Later that evening, we went on a walk on the seawall in Apia. It was a great couple of days!
