I’ve heard hundreds of Nirvana Imports that had Drain you on it. This performance of Drain You is the best and rawest ever. This is nirvana as they were meant to be. Raw, aggressive and unfiltered. One of Nirvana's best shows ever. This is Nirvana at their peak if you ask me!!
I prefer the late '93-'94 concerts with Pat. Two guitars sounds better to me although I think mostly they're playing the same thing. I gives a fuzzier sound.
Amen. I was buying all those bootleg box sets and "Outcesticide" CDs too, and the intro to this one is what sells it apart. He didn't even have to do the scream to bring it back to the chorus this time.
Can you imagine being one of the ones in the studio, hearing this revolutionary sound that was unlike any before. Being beautifully demolished by a tsunami of pure and perfect Sonic exctacy.
***** Correction, I never mentioned song writing, I was talking about music ability and technical prowess. Dave took this band higher, to a better sound. His drumming completed Nirvana. In my opinion
Paul Charters Agreed. Dave brought the power and skill to a sloppy guitar and bass. I personally don't give a shit about tech stuff as long as there is content (which Kurt definitely puts in there). But if you ask Nirvana with Dave our without Dave, it would be more than an easy choice. peace
MTV played this show in its entirety on the 10th anniversary of Kurt's death. I remember being in awe at this band, this energy. It was different. Something special.
This is probably one of the best performances they had. The sound was great and kurt was right on top of the vocals without his voice going into strain like it often did.
man... me too. that was soo cool to see this live. i would stay up late and sneak to the one tv we had in the house to watch it. i remember i trying to dye my hair this color many times... always ended up pink lol
cool! thats what i always tried to use but koolaid packs would never really work. i am obsessed with his hair color. hard to believe its koolaid honestly.... you can see the purpley streeks in his hair in other pictures or if you look closely. i woulda thought it was done with 2 diff colors of dye at least.
This is still my favorite recorded performance of this song-besides the album version. Kurt’s guitar sounds ripping, his voice is nice and edgy, and you can hear all the instruments, including the vocals, clearly.
I don't care what anyone says but the mid 80's to early 90's was MTv's golden age before all these shows started coming out of the woodwork. Nowadays it's basically reality shows and barely anything music related. smh
NIRVANA LA VOZ DE TODA UNA GENERACIÓN, MI GENERACIÓN, SOY METALERO MAS SIN EMBARGO RECONOZCO QUE NIRVANA REVOLUCIÓNO LA MÚSICA ROCK PARA SIEMPRE, YO SOY DE LA GENERACIÓN DE LOS 90s Y SE LO QUE ES NIRVANA, YO SOY DE WASHINGTON ASI QUE TUVE LA OPORTUNIDAD DE VERLOS TOCAR EN VIVO VARIAS VECES AUNQUE NO ME GUSTABA MUCHO LA ONDA DEL GRUNGE, YO SABIA QUE ERAN ESPECIALES ,NIRVANA ES DE ESTAS BANDAS QUE SE APARECEN DE VEZ EN CUANDO ,CADA 100 AÑOS Y POR ESO ES QUE YO IBA A VERLOS TOCAR
It's hard to pick just one fav Nirvana song...But this has been it for me since I first got this album on cassette when I was like 9 years old...I'm pretty certain I have read in a few articles that Drain You happens to be one of Kurt's fav as well...Makes sense bc any live show I've watched of theirs, they almost always played this song...And rightfully so...FUCKING GENIUS!!!! LOVE YOU KURT...R.I.P...
Martha, this was the performance I saw at my friend Drew Johns house when I visited him in Wisconsin in 1995, that sprung the desire for this magnificent 1965 Fender Jaguar.
Pink/Red hair is something I've always enjoyed looking at because it's incredibly garish and unique. If I ever find a place of my own, maybe I'll have this one empty room that's like, totally grey, with only a light bulb hanging from the ceiling, Then I'll put this one spot on the wall that's gonna be pink and there will be words below it that say "Sit down and enjoy the Fun".
This was probably one of the last shows where they played at standard pitch. Sometime in early 1992 they started playing a half step down for everything. This song was actually recorded a full step down on the album.
I think this song is the best from Nirvana's first album, it has a beautiful melody combined with a lot of passion and light love lyrics, and it has an innovative drumming for the pop rock of the time. Kurt also appreciated this song above others
I visited Wisconsin And there was a guitar shop around this time 1995. And there was this Jaguar that looked a lot like Kurt’s. I begged my mom to buy it for me. It was $500.00. It was a Japanese I think. Years later I had gone through a lot of Japanese Jaguars. I’ve had 3 original 1966 Fender Jaguars.
And I had only one vintage small clone mini chorus pedal. It was from a guitar maniacs catalogue. I like reissues because these old pedals are so used. But I got the idea of the pearl block inlay from a guitar shop that sent me those old photos that would pop out of the camera. It was so gorgeous. I wanted it so bad. It was an original. Sunburst
back when MTV was still actually about music.
lol even then MTV was starting to suck major ass
No Gods or Kings Just Men but not quite like now...
Lucy In Wonderland No its certainly reached the bottom of its particular sewer...
No Gods or Kings Just Men mhm...

Best Drain You performance I've ever heard
I agree this version is the best!!
Yessaa
You should check out drain you live at the moon 1991! The energy throughout the song is amazing
It’s a great one but there are so many good ones. I like the one at the Mayfair 91, Reading 91, Monsters of Spex, live and loud, I could go on forever

@@anthonyfuqua6988paris 94 sound so good for that exact reason
They were tuned a half step up I believe, another unique aspect of this performance
@@anthonyfuqua6988 I prefer 93-94 because of the scream
Pure Grunge.
oh shut the fuck up

Well said! 👏
True now most of the people are retarded
Certainly not what Kurt thought
tchaco lynma A lot more people would have died from suicide by now if it wasnt for the natural reflex in the human brain to want to survive.
This is my favorite version. He had such passion, promise, skill, looks, style 😍
the best version of Drain You ever recorded, one the best shows of their ever!!!
1° This one
2° Nulle part ailleurs
3° Muddy Banks
This is pure talent. I will always love Nirvana. Rip Kurt Cobain you are forever missed.
Who the hell could dislike this???
I know right
lacey littlelight You know you're right. 😏
Kurt Cobain's Left Ear lol 😄😂
Courtney.. because the song was about another girl (Tobi Vail)
TheRantGuy that and heroin
Can you imagine being one of the ones in the studio, hearing this revolutionary sound that was unlike any before. Being beautifully demolished by a tsunami of pure and perfect Sonic exctacy.
My all time favorite Nirvana song.
I totally remember this when it aired! Good times, to be that young again with all that awesome music happening!
Dave Grohl is one hell of a drummer!
Cause he has mad energy
He used to practice on pillow cases as a kid so a natural hard hitter....and also has mad energy
I think this was one of the best gigs ever and yes Dave is a bad ass drummer
Hahahahja
He was average from a technical basis. Great for simple music like they played
My son is a huge fan of Nirvana. He's 2. Faith in humanity: Restored.
how’s he doing now?
I remember watching this on mtv back then , they were unexplainable , they were in the air
Nirvana Vs the mtv sound guy.
Every grunge band vs every sound guy. I'm in a heavy rock band. Whatever venue we play at the sound guy just can't fucking do it.
😂😂😂
With eyes so dilated i've become your pupil
Is it a reference to heroin?
And if you save your soul when u r in love your pupils dilate
heroin restricts the pupil, not dilate. pinpoint eyes. so he is probably refering to something else. Don't do drugs, kids. especially heroin or meth.🚫
One of the best opening lines to any song
Might be the best ever
Dave took this band to a whole new level
Dave, Kurt and Krist led the band to a whole new level!
***** Correction, I never mentioned song writing, I was talking about music ability and technical prowess. Dave took this band higher, to a better sound. His drumming completed Nirvana. In my opinion
What are you on about? Dave was in nirvana. No one mentioned the foo fighters. And when the video aired they didn't even exist.
Paul Charters Agreed. Dave brought the power and skill to a sloppy guitar and bass. I personally don't give a shit about tech stuff as long as there is content (which Kurt definitely puts in there). But if you ask Nirvana with Dave our without Dave, it would be more than an easy choice. peace
I agree..Kurts vocals suck bad..thank god for studios...his vocals suck live always!
MTV played this show in its entirety on the 10th anniversary of Kurt's death.
I remember being in awe at this band, this energy. It was different. Something special.
I love it. Most influential rock band of my generation. RIP Kurt.
This is probably one of the best performances they had. The sound was great and kurt was right on top of the vocals without his voice going into strain like it often did.
I saw this when it aired live. I remember being mesmerized by that middle section. It was unbelievable live. Need more of this nowadays!!
I saw this when it first aired. Yeah, I'm that old!!
Man, Dave just murders those drums. Absolute monster.
man oh man...i remember watching this on 120 minutes....and just being floored.
0:50 R.I.P MTV, Back when u could hear Dave's amazing snare
Wow, I actually remember watching this when it was broadcast live on MTV.... I feel old
You and me both brother...

Dave just beating the piss out of the drums. It’s great watching him in the background

I think this song is the best from Nirvana's first album, it has a beautiful melody combined with a lot of passion and light love lyrics, and it has an innovative drumming for the pop rock of the time. Kurt also appreciated this song above others
Still great memorable video
Plus Martha that clean sound of his Jaguar was pretty cool sounding!

Great riffing guitar Cobain...great punch grohl

HEAVY METAL.
