  • The 2004 Lycoming College Tour Choir performs "Ride the Chariot" at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church on Sunday, February 29, 2004. For more on the choir, visit www.lycochoir.com.
"Ride the Chariot" was arranged by William Henry Smith, and features alto Pamela Tipler and soprano Bethany Mingle. The conductor of the choir was Dr. Fred Thayer. The 10-day 2004 tour throughout Florida included stops in Fort Lauderdale, St. Petersburg, Fort Myers, and Winter Park, among others. In May 2004, the Tour Choir performed an international tour in Spain.
Currently conducted by Dr. Christopher Jackson, the Lycoming College Tour Choir has a long history of quality performances throughout the United States. Since its inception in 1947 by Walter McIver, the choir has presented concerts in every state east of the Mississippi River, California, Canada, Puerto Rico, Argentina, and across Europe. The choir tours nationally each year and internationally every three years. Most recently, in 2010, the choir had a 10-day tour throughout Argentina.
In its seven decades of music, the Lycoming College Choir has performed hundreds of concerts including appearances at the National Cathedral, the Washington Shrine, the Crystal Cathedral, Coral Ridge, and New York City's St. John the Divine and St. Patrick's Cathedral. The choir has been featured twice in the Holiday Celebrations at the White House. The ensemble has sung with the Gregg Smith Singers, the Chieftains, and Barry Manilow. In 2013, the choir released its 10th CD, "Favorites: 1976-2013," which chronicled selections from previous director Fred Thayer's tenure.
The Tour Choir is selected each year by competitive audition from the 115-voice College Choir, which is comprised of students from all academic fields. Approximately 40 students are chosen annually to perform with the Tour Choir. Lycoming's third choral ensemble is the Chamber Choir, which performs a diverse repertoire ranging from vocal jazz to major works.
Lycoming College is an independent coeducational college of 1,400 students enrolled in 36 majors. The College is ranked by U.S. News and World Report as a national liberal arts college. Located in Williamsport, PA, the college is affiliated with the United Methodist Church.

I believe this is the best version (performance & recording) of this song (this particular arrangement) that I've found so far on YT, and I've been searching & listening for nearly a decade (at least once a year).

    Ride the Chariot
Ride the chariot in the mornin' Lord (in the mornin' Lord)
Ride the chariot in the mornin' Lord (in the mornin' Lord)
I'm getting ready for the judgment day
    My Lord, my Lord
(C'mon and ride) Ride the chariot in the mornin' Lord
(C'mon and ride) Ride the chariot in the mornin' Lord
(C'mon and ride) I'm getting ready for the judgment day
    My Lord, my Lord
    Are you ready my brother
    (Oh yes my Lord)
Are you ready for the journey
    (Oh yes my Lord)
Do you wanna see my Jesus
(Oh yes) I'm waiting for the chariot
    'Cause I'm ready to go
Ride the chariot in the mornin' Lord
Ride the chariot in the mornin' Lord
I'm getting ready for the judgment day
    My Lord, my Lord
(Get ready for the mighty journey leaving in the morning
Get ready for the master call, just call me in morn
Get ready if you wanna see my Jesus)
    Are you ready my sister
Are you ready for the journey
Do you wanna see my Jesus

(Oh yes) I'm waiting for the chariot
    'Cause I'm ready to go
Well I never will forget that day (what a day, my Lord)
When all my sins were taken away (how he washed it white as snow)
My feet were snatched from the miry clay (I'm a changed man, I'm a new life)
And I'm gonna serve him till that judgment day (hey, come on)
Ride the chariot in the mornin' Lord
Ride the chariot in the mornin' Lord
I'm getting ready for the judgment day
    My Lord, my Lord
I'm gonna ride in the chariot
in the chariot, (are you ready to ride?) in the chariot
    Ride in the chariot
(Get ready for the mighty journey leaving in the morning
Get ready for the master call, just call me in morn
Get ready if you wanna see my Jesus)
    Are you ready my sister
Are you ready for the journey
Do you wanna see my Jesus
(Oh yes) I'm waiting for the chariot
    'Cause I'm ready to go
    Ride in the chariot
