V&H Race Baffle vs Quiet Baffle - The Ultimate Bagger Build

  • The Vance & Hines Pro Pipe is a great sounding 2 into 1 full exhaust system. It has a great performance bagger exhaust tone. But if you want something more friendly to the ears then V&H makes a "Quiet Baffle" option to replace the Race Baffle it comes with.
    The Quiet Baffle still sounds fantastic, giving the bike a good bark and a little more torque to boot.

    You convinced me this is the exhaust (with quiet baffles) I'm getting. Been back and forth with these and another brand all winter.
    Thanks for great video.

    Thanks for this! Instructions were MIA on the website, so knowledge of the notches was the best. Strap wrench to rotate the end cap, locate the notch. WD40 to loosen, and a slide hammer to help pull it out. 15-minute job, Thanks

      I have this pipe on an '08 Yamaha Roadliner 1900cc, without the baffle, and with no endcap, it is the loudest thing on the planet. My whole crowd rides Harleys. Loss in low end or not, rolling on the highway and cracking the throttle is the most fulfilling thing one can experience. The site of all of those 30-40 thousand dollar Harleys in the mirrors is just a pleasant side effect.

    Excellent effort at showing viewers the difference, but the video simply doesn't do them justice and you really can show the best feature of the quiet baffles and that would be how they sound at 70+ mph, they're almost silent compared to the race baffle at the same RPM.

    QUESTION: I have the pro pipe on my 2019 SGS. Has 128” engine and CR485 cam. And then dyno.
    After 500 miles or so, I had to switch to the quiet baffle.
    My question is - does changing from pro-pipe comp baffle to the quiet baffle require new dyno? Or does it not matter?
    If it does matter, why? Would it run any leaner or richer?

    Out of curiosity, did you ever end up camming this bike?? I have a 2013 Street Glide that I was running V&H Power Duals on with the Hi Output slip-on's, FP3 and Big Sucker, I switched to a 2 into 1 exhaust, Dynojet Power Vision with Target Tune (FP3 would not tune correctly no matter what myself and V&H Techs tried) and S&S 551 Chain Drive Cams and it turned my Glide into a whole different animal. Monster torque difference and incredible throttle response. If you liked the change you got with the V&H upgrades you did and you haven't already done so, I highly recommend cams next. If I had to do all over again though I would have gone with the Woods 222 cams, relatively close in price and torque output but more HP out of the Woods. Nice bike by the way, really dig the black and gold look.

    Great video. Two questions. V&H has the quiet baffle listed as Part # 21904 which I can’t find. The quiet baffle at J&P is Part Number 21906. Which is yours?
    Second question, does the plastic wrapping around the fiberglass stay on?

    I have the same pipe on my Road King biggest problem ive had with it is after awhile the baffle starts rattling the outer chrome trim ring loosens up over time you have to pull it out and tighten up the 3 allen screws. It doesn't matter if you use locktite or not because of the heat next time I'm going to tack weld it🤣

    • @PAULY-P

      Yeah unfortunately the prior owner of my bike lost the end cap and baffle. Its far too loud and actually slower with no backpressure. Unfortunately nobody makes the end cap anymore. Going to try to install a baffle at the other end as actual end is far to wide for any aftermarket baffles

    The pro pipe comes with the race baffle? Or is that ordered separately?

    • @eatmelily
      @eatmelily 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Pipe should come with the Pro Pipe baffle, which is Not the Race Baffle, or the Quiet Baffle, Mine came with the Pro pipe baffle, never really saw one that came with a race baffle, but I have Not seen a lot of them. Quiet baffle is pretty quiet, overlally quiet IMO... I pulled my baffle out, stripped off the wrapping and reinstalled it...a Little louder, but not much. Sounds about the same at idle, and about 5% louder full on....still too quiet..... The Pro Pipe baffle that comes with the pipe is about twice the length of the Race baffle, and 2/3 the length of the quiet baffle...IFIRC.....

    Bro, the difference seems entirely negligable but thanks for the comparison. I just picked up the V&H Comp 2into1 for my Dyna. I found it insanely loud upon start up & thought I'd get the quiet baffle. LOL, after seeing this I'm thinking that'll be pretty much pointless.

    • @MOTOPILOT6
      @MOTOPILOT6  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Trust me. As I stated in the video the quiet baffle is around 20 to 25% quieter. It’s much easier on the ears

      @@MOTOPILOT6 i agree.....the quiet baffles are MUCH quieter. but still VERY deep. and they DO bark when you lay on the throttle......i feel more torque as well.

    Ha ! Ha ! Ha ! V&H saw you comin' a mile away !!! Or should I say..."heard you" comin' a mile away !?!!! Ha ! Ha ! Ha ! There's absolutely NO obvious difference between those baffles !!! I have the exact same pipe....and those pipes are for ONE THING ! To create noise, HP & TQ ! My engine is a 103, built w/racing cams, over-sized pistons, etc, etc. And it runs like a Grape-Ape ! The ONLY WAY you're going to quiet your engine down so you can hear your stereo...and so your wifey isn't deaf after a ride ....is to BUY A JAP-JUNK, CROTCH-ROCKET w/stock exhaust !!! Lol !! Or, change out your exhaust completely for a 2 into 2 restrictive exhaust ! Plain & simple. My scoots front tire lifts right off the pavement just gunnin' it in 1st gear ! Amazing what these V-twins will do when built right. And Its still very reliable for long road trips. Good luck !
