So i revisited this video because it rashly does encapsulate where i an with this series.
I think what irks me the most about this series is the Fandom. Because there's this running theme of "pseudo intellectualism" that ppl seem to have with it.
Basic storytelling concepts such as foreshadowing, consistent themes and characterization and development (plot and characters) is lacking in this series.
I have no idea how the beginning goals of this series structurally corresponds to the shinjuku showdown (which will result in the merger).
It seems that this series is more cohesive IF kenjaku is at the helm but the series wants to be a fight merchant. The series lacks direct focus with a protagonist because ID ARGUE Gojo drives the plot THE MOST in the series.
I also find myself frustrated with the lack of interesting character interactions because they DON'T ACTUALLY INTERACT IN KEY POINTS IN THE SERIES.
(How does gojo feel about nanami death?)(I wonder what gojo is going to do if he trains with nobara)(how does panda feel about yaga and the jjk higher ups [who cares gojo killed them IN FLASHBACK LOL])
THE SERIES doesn't let me get HYPE for these moments because time and time again it just decides to undercut it and NOT DEVELOP IT IN THE STORY.
    Yeah this hurts man.

As in the video, many things happen just for the sake of happening and create artifically depth. If the creator wanted to stay within that range, then that's what Gege should've done, but he tried to go elsewhere and failed. A critique on the fandom isn't a critique on the series. Even in this comment section I see comments of people purporting head-canons as opposed to what's actually being told in the series.

    • @DulKyoujiAnime
      @DulKyoujiAnime 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

@solitary2 the purpose of my content was to juxtaposed my grips with the series in relation to my belief on how incongruous they are to common "analysis" content fans make.
A bad Fandom (or critique of them) doesn't make a bad series (or warrant a critique of them).
If my comment gave you that idea then I apologize for being unclear.

    • @solitary2
      @solitary2 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +25

@@DulKyoujiAnime Nah, I understand the comment; it was clear. I think a lot of people take the smallest incantations of themes or "decent writing" and blow it up. However, it's never done in a cohesive way, as you said. Things just happen when they need to happen and what connects them is a string as strong as a strand of hair. Todo came back just for Gojo to come back a chapter later and now everyone has forgotten about Todo.
Story sucks which makes the characters suffer.

    • @jojoconi9831
      @jojoconi9831 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I found that the answer for that is because they don't offer anything othen than their fighting ability. Not just them, men too the moment they aren't strong enough would become "bad" because they didn't get out of the box of being something else than a plain old 2D characters. What can we like about these characters other than their strength in this battle shonen? Unironicaly, the moment a character is introduced we wonder if they are strong enough to have an impact in the story, not meeting the requirements meant that they need to have something else going for them else why even are they here as a character?
You don't have that feeling for characters like Jynx in Arcane and character that have a compelling story or traits. We just can't bash them because we understand their personality, they are "human". In JJK the only one that got this pass is Yuji. He failed many times but did he get bashed? No, because he's so tragic and it was well portrayed. Subaru from RE Zero too.

And the saddest part is thats all i wanted to see at that point. Anytime i actually found myself reading dialogue or "plot" i ended up just getting bored and having to use my own imagination on what might be the backstories/ interactions with characters. It feels like only if you know/ have read plenty of shounen manga, that you should understand the development and interactions between characters. I literally told my girlfriend that its just a bleach clone for like the first 5 episodes lmfao. And i do love this series. But man. It feels like its meant to have the anime flush out middle plot stuff because gege doesn't wanna write it anymore. Like damn. At that point just write a screen play for the anime with reference panels and let the studio do the work. Cuz THE ANIME IS FIRE (visually at the least), dont get me wrong.

JJK's world building is so bad that it terribly affects the characters and the plot.
Maki achieving her "apparently fake" goal was lacklustre due to having poor world building when it came to the Zenin Clan. They had minmum to no impact on the story nor on the chatacters. All we got is an edgy narcissist trying so hard to convince us that Maki and Mai had a terrible life in the clan house. The Clan members were annihilated before we could learn who they were. The sad part is that the most fleshed out clan out of the 3 was the Zenin Clan. This just shows how bad it is 😭
Note about Maki's fake goal, It was always made clear that Maki wanted to lead the clan not to commit genocide. Only after her fight in the culling game we were told that she DID NOT actually care about being a clan head. This is ridiculous.

The zenin has always been a plight to her, stopping her from progressing higher in rank and one of the few that wanted for the execution of yuji. The fact is that you didn't read this and now are calling her goals fake cause you didn't "see it enough." She only committed genocide cause her wanting a good place for her sister. The one thing that was holding her was gone. I feel the ppl who criticize JJK sometimes don't even understand it and then blame the fans for liking it as if they themselves are any better.

@orpheemulemo8053 Zenin is straight dookie dooks. She left the clan so she could change it for her sister. That was her main goal for her sister and prove that she could be a higher ranker without their help. But even after going to school, she was held back by said zenin as they stopped her from going higher, one of the few that signed off on yuji's execution. She wasn't treated that bad? So, being a woman in a clan where women aren't allowed to be jujutsu sorcerer's, or even fight, while also not being able to see spirits and have abysmal levels of CE and no technique. Sure, she wasn't treated badly. She never joined hei, and she mastered her skills and became a sorcerer despite them. She wouldn't come back until she wanted to retrieve her weapons. She didn't kill the women or the children, only the men, who were the heads. They would have killed her after she smoked her dad, plus hse was an ally of gojo and plotting his release, the clan was corrupt and with the shit they did to her they had it coming cause to them she would be basically not even human due to her disadvantages.
Maki arc was done after that, the hell. Like I said, this obsession with character development. Maki only wanted to be a leader to the clan for her sister she didn't care for their nonsense. Wanting reform, but after her sister was killed, that reason was gone. Her character was the build-up of all the trauma and hate she had for them. What they did to her and her sister.
Toji had a family, but he still wanted to be accepted. He wanted to stick up to the jujutsu world. Despite all that, he could have destroyed them for what they did to him. The pain and neglect. He was stuck in the past, Maki, as she said, destroyed that. She was free, it's why she was better than toji cause she wasn't shackled like him. She did it for her sister, like looking at the two of them. It's all there. Don't misconstrue the setting and then call her character wasted when you didn't understand the arc she went through.

I agree a lot with you! I think my main issue with JJK is that its hype was warranted when Gege cared about fleshing out specific ideas and arcs. But if not the audience is left to the whims of Gege and just like George R Martin this man has no mercy. 😂
He allowed his female characters to flop. This man creates a roster of some capable female characters Nobara, Maki, Mei, fucking Yuki, guess what he renders them useless, as support
or puts them at the whims of other male characters even Maki's arc I think was rushed especially with Mai's sacrifice. Because as a female lover of anime/manga this shit gets old.
Additionally, I think Gege's greatest strength WAS his breaking of shonen conventions. When Yuji died that got me more hooked, Gojo's imprisonment and death I loved it, the breaking down of Yuji forcing him to challenge his black and white beliefs about "dying a good death" and "helping people". And The fact that the story doesn't revolve around Yuji I did find intriguing because the traditional shonen allows the MC to be OP, to overcome the big bad, to get the girl, to be happy, so I enjoyed watching Gojo, Satoru and Yuta's story. But Gege doesnt care to evolve these breaking of conventions in a meaningful way and there was NO reason to bring Yuta back in Gojo's body if Gojo's desire was to create a group sorcerers who are equally powerful and capable in their own way.
Also using continual flashbacks as exposition and justification is lazy writing 101. Why didn't we see Yuta and Miguel training?
And I think you hit on an excellent point that Gege underdevelops characters relationships with each other. It did bother me that Gojo never checked in with Yuji, there is no time to see how these deaths impacted Gojo's psyche especially Fuishiguro and that would be effective for the story.
Also Kenjaku's death was also a waste because the sheer amount of lore and jjk history, he could have shared in the story and helped build the jk world - died with him. Yuji's parents? More permanency with his connection to Sukuna? The point I disagree with you is not that Gege does not know how to write good characters. He does not have PATIENCE! It is clear as someone who teaches English...the way he rushes these fights and arcs do not build together, but he doesn't give a fuck at this point.

It's not about female cast, it's about the haphazardness of death
Maki, Nobara, and Yuki all have massive weight in the story and it's characters. Mei Mei is probably the only character in here that'll be okay no matter what happens. You gotta question what you value in a character if you think otherwise. But I guess it delves into gender politics huh?
You say there is no reason to bring Yuta in Gojo's body when the point of this storytelling choice doesn't even have the time to be released (also ignoring Yuta's arc in Sendai Colony about never being able to challenge calamities like Sukuna because of his humanity)
I'd like to know what a Yuta/Miguel training arc would've added to the story tbh I'm pretty curious. But I don't understand how you guys are running with the idea that the flashbacks are lazy expo and justification (cause at this point it's just a catchphrase) when they all are actual character moments you guys cried for when Gege skipped to Shinjuku. Those inform the course of action the characters have taken and bring a new light into previous events. None of them explain events that weren't foreshadowed, already seen, or shown to be possible so I really don't get where are you coming from. This way, the story is able to maintain it's hyperfocus in battle (which is deliberate, shows called fucking Sorcery Fight) and has the leeway to conceal and reveal information when it actually matters! Tell me what would you do? Training arc? Karaoke arc? Heian flashback arc? Everybody wants it, but I wonder about the right fit. Can we wonder about the right fit? When an author should display information so readers that already are dissatisfied with the weekly releases won't complain about the answers they asked for? How to write so eloquently that no one ever calls "asspull"? I think the answer is simple, it's always there. Read this shit, volume, from volume. The clearer picture will suddenly appear trust me.
You say that Kenjaku died with JJK's lore and history like you already read the complete series... I'm sorry but the fella was already dead when we started to get information about what his son actually is. His plan is still underway and in my opinion, there is no reason to believe that those parts will remain unexplored. Though saying they won't is straight bad faith.
But yeah it would've been fire to see Gojo show emotion before what happened during his nap, I agree, But you're grasping for straws, the guy made a joke and proceeded to roast Sukuna and Kenjaku the second he saw that Megumi had been taken over, it's just how he is. You guys hope for your ideal version of the characters then mistake your wishes for criticism, it's a shame

I really get annoyed that rabid fans hate others criticize the show for not exploring its themes beyond “people die”. They tell you it’s not that serious and back pedal. But when you say it’s not that deep writing. Then they start saying it’s a deep story with fleshed out characters. Even though many characters die or get off screened.
Gege clearly wants to write a battle shonen but also wants to “look” deep with subverting expectations. But doesn’t replace that lack of expectations with satisfying flesh out of the theme or characters cause it’s cuts itself at the knees every time.

Nobody copes harder than Battle Shonen fans. Like it's okay to like it just because of the fights but acting like it's some grand master amazing writing that's better than other battle Shonens is pure delusion. It doesn't matter how popular something is, that does not automatically make it great. This video nailed everything wrong with JJK.
Bad writing is bad writing and being a battle shonen is no excuse, defending it by saying shallow writing is okay isn't the win you think it is.

    • @SilentGhost91548

@@faith4657actually you can call something bad writing if it has:
      Underdevelopment characters.
Plot points that were set up for entire arcs but never went anywhere.
Convenient story contrivances that only serve to get rid of certain characters-Sukuna, Gojo, Kenjaku.
And a completely lackluster ending that left a lot to be desired.

    • @faith4657
      @faith4657 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@SilentGhost91548 And that's where you're wrong. Undeveloped characters? Characters like maki, yuji, megumi, gojo e.t.c were very much developed. Also, not many need to go through arcs of "change" to be good characters.
These plot points were touched on again. Only the ones that weren't even important were not. But for some reason, yall wanted to see them despite them not being necessary to the story.
How were those plot contrivances? Sukuna was beat after his power was greatly diminished and he was getting jumped, gojo got beat from a sneak attack which he didn't account for after sukuna got the blue prints for WCS, and kenjaku was beat due to the yuta todo combo. That's a lot of saying with no backing.
Not everyone would like the ending. Not everyone will be pleased by the same thing. It's why we call it a preference. You don't like it. Maybe someone else will. This isn't bad writing unless there is something wrong in the plot. A lot of ppl say bad writing, but it's really just their opinion on the matter. You didn't like how the villains went sure but it's not bad writing, you wanted to talk about these other stuff more sure but it's not bad writing, you wanted more characters to be developed despite there already being a big potion of that sure but it's not bad writing. @kevintanza6968 Kenjaku doesn't need 60 pages of backstory to be a good character or a good villain. Aizen didn't get no backstory, and his already a good villain and character. The fact you don't even know his plan isn't an example of "bad writing," which is just based on yall feelings, but simply you not taking the time to read it. Yea, from kenjaku to yuki, this isn't a major plot point, just some shit Kenny said to trip them up.
Maki and Megumi do have development. You are lying out your ass now. Maki broke free of her chains, megumi breaking the mold of his mindset and not trying to end himself. These characters break away from things holding them back. Which is part of one of the core themes of the series. They don't need anymore to be good. Yuji also had a very strong arc, his literally the one carrying the themes the most. From the cog mentality to the needs of saving ppl to his discovering and what a curse is. Like you may not like it, but to call it weak is just meh.
The fights basically push the story, themes like these are built into the fights, and it's why they are there. It's true that not everyone needs change, but for some reason, ppl can't seem to understand that there are different types of characters ppl are. Some would be static, others dynamic, etc. They ain't all going to be the same.

You completely misunderstood Todo's "we are the exception" speech. In the next chapter when talking to Yuji he says "as long as we live our friends who have passed away will not truly have been defeated! It's not about sins or punishment. The moment we become jujutsu sorcerers, our lives cannot be limited to such misfortunes. Looking for meaning or logic in death can at times defile the memories of those we've lost!" This further shows his mindset isn't one of arrogance, but acceptance and camaradarie. He believes jujutsu sorcerers will never decay, not because of the arrogant belief in yourself required to reach the peak, but because he can carry the memory and will of his fellows on with him, and when it's his time to die someone will carry on his memory and will. Death weighs on Todo, but he has found a (pretty healthy) way to cope with the death that surrounds him in jujutsu society.

Personally, the problem that I have with JJK is
    A) Setting interesting concepts only for them to be done in a short amount of time
    B) No worldbuilding at all
    C) thinking we will care for characters deaths that we barely saw
    D) Hyping things up only for the payoff to not live up to the hype
    E) The lack of training
    F) The flashbacks
    A) The moment where I was truly let down was Geto’s massacre, I was really interested in seeing how he would get to that point, only for him to become a mass murderer after his talk with Yuki, which was like 2-3 minutes? 💀
This also happens with the places that are "haunted" that we see in at the end of S1 and at the start of S2
If you take out Mei Mei and Utahime’s screen time at the start of S2 it literally does nothing, they hype this places up because "humans go in and never come out" but they end in like 4 minutes
    B) The society in which they live in is just non existent, it’s worse when you’re supposed to care that the monkeys (gotta do Geto justice) die
Who cares if Sukuna killed a bunch of monkeys in his fight with Jogo? Who cares that Geto burned down the village? The humans don’t even see curses, to them a big meteorite hit some buildings and that’s it
They had an interesting concept with the girl that Nanami helped in S1, but they never explored it further,
Another example is the entire Junpei storyline, he made the entire school fall under a spell and threatened to kill one of them, only for him to die, the bully gets no repercussions and it ends there, I get that Junpei was just supposed to bring missery to Yuji’s life but an entire school being put to sleep by mysterious forces wouldn’t be an interesting concept for the news?
    C) why did Haibara die? Like why did that even happened? We legit saw bro for like 5 scenes 💀
Same with Nobara, we got nothing about her character up until S2 ep 9 and like what did that change? How does her friend moving away gives us anything about her character or impact her all? The only implication of this was that flashback back in S1
So why am I supposed to care about her death?
    D) The most prominent example is when Yuji died and he was kept a secret for some reason, only for him to come back in the Hoodwill event or smth and Nobara and Megumi’s reactions were
    - - - -
    - -
Like??? Keep in mind that they had been hyping it up this entire time, I legit thought that Nobara and Megumi were annoyed to see him alive 😭
    E) We barely see Yuji, Megumi and Nobara train, the only time we barely got anything was back in the Hoodwill event and that was like 5 seconds of Megumi and Nobara
This is more a criticism to Yuji, I don’t care that he’s related to Sukuna or Kenjaku, this boy has never used cursed energy in his life, apparently everyone in the Jujutsu world has cursed energy, even the monkeys, they just need to learn to control it
But Yuji immediately knew how to use it and immediately got sent of on missions, it wasn’t only that after his death he got some training but the punching plushie exercise was like 3 minutes
    E) The flashbacks don’t feel like something that the characters are thinking about, they just come out of nowhere and there times I was like "what is this?"
One that still confuses me is back in S1 where Megumi got injured by Hakari’s Mario plants and we have this scene of Todo’s idol informing him that Megumi is gonna be alright
I was so confused and I just chalked it up to be his imagination
JJK’s story is like seeing a swimming pool and thinking it’s super big, only to jump in and find out it’s a shallow kid’s pool 🫤🤷‍♀️.
Also the memes are top tiers 👍.

It feels like you decided “Jujutsu Kaisen sucks” and then worked backwards from there. A lot of these “criticisms” are you just rephrasing “it’s ass.” Without any actual logic, just hyperbolic statements. An example: Todo was hinted to be back before 259, you even commented on the chapter he was first shown in and you had 0 idea 😭Nobara has had two different statements confirming her status of whether she’s alive or dead too.
Edit: I’ll take the L on the Nobara comment.

Funny how you chose the easiest and most contrite and meaningless criticism to call it hyperbolic or stupid instead of any other meaningful criticism he had. He had a lot more criticism for todo’s reintroduction and what it did for the story, how it felt for the character, and how it was treated the chapter after.
The Nobara one is also false simply due to how vague the statements are which makes a large portion of the fanbase even entertain the idea that she could come back. and if it did confirm by virtue of literally never seeing her again till the end, what a terrible showing of impact. It was gonna be bad eitherway

@@quin0000 I could’ve chosen even easier ones is the funny part to your response. His criticisms don’t come across as genuine, but as bad faith. When you purposefully leave out information consistently in your “criticism” like he did, it becomes hard to take it seriously.
The second he said “If you take out the fighting, the story loses its substance” I knew it was him working backwards from the idea of “this is poorly written.”
It’s not to say jjk is perfect. But you can make anything look worse than it is when you leave out critical information a story provides. The story itself addresses some of his points, but he ignores them (or doesn’t see them?)

    • @quin0000
      @quin0000 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@TheMrzachat My point wasn’t that you can make easier points, but that the only point you can make is an easy one to ignore or retort. The only one i can say the story sufficiently address is maki’s situation with mai but it’s still clunky in its execution which is what the video talks about. Other than that, I agree with most of his claims (except the flash without substance thing but that doesn’t negate his criticism). So i’d like for you talk about your specific problems in the video instead of attacking hyperbole like the quote you brought up or meaningless criticism like todo foreshadowing when it wasn’t the only problem he had with todo, and his very real problem of nobara’s lack of explicit status that a majority of the fanbase are confused on.

    • @TheMrzachat
      @TheMrzachat 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

@@quin0000 Okay, I can mention my problems with another one of his criticisms. I think ultimately, his interpretation of Gojo removes a lot of the nuance that the story actively shows in Gojo's characterization. And with this stuff included, his entire criticism of how Gojo was handled just doesn’t land.
Gojo wasn't ever really good at helping people process through emotional trauma. He couldn't help Geto. He can't even really help himself process trauma. and it's why he had Nanami become a mentor for Yuji in the first place. When Yuji is worried about the idea of killing someone, Gojo isn't the one Yuji spends time talking too. When we see Gojo mentoring his students, it's all about mentality in combat and their strength on the field of battle. He doesn't spend time helping them process their emotions. Nanami, Nobara (he conveniently ignored this in her criticism), and Higuruma all fill that role for Yuji. Gojo was never the teacher that really helped his students process their trauma, he just made sure they'd be at their top strength when on the battlefield and facing death.
I know Gojo is confident in his abilities, but I think the story shows moments throughout where he doubts himself. A great example of this is his own doubt when Yuji dies for the first time. He feels like he's failed, and he has been humbled. I think if Yuji stays dead there, there is a real chance he snaps and kills the elders then. Sure it isn't in combat, but there are times where Gojo isn't "conceit personified." There are other examples in the story where he does have doubts about his own capabilities, but that was the first one that came to mind.
I don't agree at all that Gojo was in control of the fight either. Sukuna was pushing for a specific victory condition, where Gojo was looking simply to outright kill Sukuna. That being said, sukuna is still in the drivers seat for large parts of the fight. Gojo is overcoming hurdles, but we don't see Sukuna having to overcome nearly as many hurdles to stay in the fight. See: Gojo having to literally melt his brain and remake it to stand a chance. Gojo himself even makes comments on the idea that Sukuna isn't going all out, and actively was seeking what Sukuna's true end game plan was. Every big moment of the fight for Gojo is really him reacting to the fact that he's behind, and on the losing end. Gojo is just strong enough that when he starts to figure things out, it could still wind up killing Sukuna. It's why the fight works so well imo, because even though Sukuna is in control one slip up can lead to his death. Had Sukuna not already found his win condition, which he did in 234, then he would've lost to the second hollow purple. Gojo was unfortunately a step to late. By the end of 235 it tells us Gojo won, but ironically we have been shown through the fight that Sukuna was the one who was set up to win.
As for Gojo in the afterlife, I think he misunderstands the entire scene.Gojo lost in combat for the first time ever (no, Toji doesn't count.) Having him be confident he still would've won would turn his confidence into arrogance, where instead we see humility.I don't think Gojo being humble in his first defeat is a bad decision, and actually shows more depth than actual contradiction of his character imo. He mentions Nanami's comments about Gojo, and interprets Gojo as 100% accepting of Nanami's comments. The same chapter mentions that you can help a flower bloom and still not understand it. So, Nanami cruelly doesn't fully get Gojo. Even when Nanami was alive, we are shown he doesn't fully understand Gojo, nor does he ever truly intend to understand him (this is a consistent thing in their interactions.) We the reader see Gojo's own actions don't align with Nanami's interpretation of Gojo. Gojo looks upset because Nanami has an incomplete understanding of him, and having his own friends still misunderstand him in death probably does sting.Even with having people he cares about, he feels isolated and not fully understood. It reinforces how Gojo was characterized throughout the story as well. So I really don't see how it contradicts his character, and I think his criticism here leaves out key details to force his point.
I also think the story shows us that Gojo did reach Sukuna, and his efforts to empathize with someone who also knows the loneliness of being the strongest do reach. The problem is, Sukuna values strength above all else. He understands what love is, he just views it as something he does not need. That being said, Sukuna tells Gojo that he cleared his skies. We also see Sukuna outright explain what his strategy was from the jump. He does that twice, and he doesn't really do that with anyone else. That, with the combination of Sukuna using Gojo's own hand sign tells us the reader how much Sukuna actually was impacted by Gojo. So, Gojo's efforts weren't in vain, and he can die knowing he did reach Sukuna, and was able to connect with someone who truly understood what it meant to be the strongest, and the loneliness that came with it. To me, it even confirms that Gojo wasn't actually correct in his assessment of not being able to win without 10S. Sukuna I think tells us the reader, and Gojo, that he likely would've lost without 10S. It also is the start of Sukuna realizing that loneliness actually does suck, and him toying with his food after his fight with Gojo in an attempt to help create someone else to now satisfy his own loneliness. Sukuna even kind of addresses this when he's in the Sukuna gauntlet.
His understanding of Gojo comes across as only surface level, and ignores what gege shows us under the surface (which is ironic.) After Geto died, Gojo's conceit is really just a mask he puts up to cope with the loneliness he is feeling. I do think there's more nuance to how he's presented and how he changed after hidden inventory that OP doesn't mention in his criticism. And I think that same approach happens when it comes to Gojo after being sealed.

The moment you said that JJK is a good battle series and not a deep philosophical/spiritual series that it fans trying to made it out to be, I immediately know that this video is gonna be fire. It was very obvious that this series is using philosophies as salad dressing than actually interested on engaging with it on a deeper level. Which is fine, but I'm tired when its fans pretending and expecting it to be something deeper than it is. And then complaint about it when they themselves set it up for failure and disappointment.
This by no mean me defending Gege's writing cause he still does introduces these ideas and proceed to do f all about it. But I thought I was taking crazy pills when people are glazing on how it is effectively at exploring deep themes with its very fast pacing compared to its shounen contemporaries like One Piece or Naruto. Like bro, not even close. The Big 3 are so good at exploring their respective themes cause of the fact they took their time to explore their respective stories' themes.
I view Gege to be the Zack Snyder of manga. They have talent at making good visuals + actions and especially good at referencing ideas to give their stories this illusion of them being deeper than it is.

Ok I had somethings to say but your Gojo moment just made me think you are more angry with what happened to Gojo than most of the stuff here because I thought you of all people would understand the gojo portions more
I want to say it is stupid to call mahoraga, Sukuna and what's his face vs Gojo a 3 v1 because at that point anyone using an ability independent of themselves is a cheater. Calling it cheating should start and end with Sukuna using someone's body.
While I do agree that the off screen was bad. I wasn't even a weekly reader when that happened but I was still pissed, but saying it doesn't make any sense is dumb. Sukuna came into that fight with the sole purpose of getting through the infinity. That's where all his stats were laid. They were times Gojo even said Sukuna was making roundabout moves and even the narrator herself questions some of Sukuna's move. Sukuna was happy when mahoraga got through the infinity.
Gojo's behavior the afterlife also makes sense because again Sukuna bet everything on the ten shadows getting through the infinity and based his fighting around that. Gojo thinking maybe a fully powered Sukuna who was able to figure out how to use mahoraga beating him makes sense logically and character wise. It makes sense character wise because Gojo was never truly as confident as you'd like to think. He didn't even have an identity. Gojo was only ever confident as sukuna when he got enlightened that first time only for it to come crashing down because of Geto's actions and question. And the story has constantly validated Sukuna's mindset as you have said. His behavior with context of hidden inventory clearly tells us some of his behavior is him putting up a front
Also I never took Nanami's statement as true. I thought it was meant to show how everyone always saw Gojo as the strongest and that's why the statement pissed me off. Because even in death he wasn't understood. I took Gojo ruffling his hair afterwards to as just Gojo accepting it
The Kashimo thing I will give you because you seem to be a weekly reader. I'm not so maybe my input wouldn't matter much but I never saw it as the story hyping him up to beat Sukuna. They never really gave him impressive feats as much as Sukuna in the story and when the fight comes, we see why. Because Kashimo went to Sukuna looking for a teacher more than fight because his life was already completed. He just wanted understanding on the life he lived. This is why Sukuna crushes him that fast, to hammer home his lesson. Sukuna crushed kashimo as easily as Kashimo did the "dirt beneath his feet". This is why I hope if it gets animated and they reach the scene where Sukuna says "you were strong right?" They should have him kill kashimo just as fast
I don't really get your point on how the world revolving around Gojo somehow makes it bad. The characters still have their own agency and doing their own thing. Megumi wants to save Gojo but also wants to save his sister. Kenjaku is busy doing his own thing with tengen. Maki is still having problems with her clan. Sukuna is still planning to leave Yuji's body. I don't really know how wanting to save Gojo takes away from all the major events that happened. Although your point of "hell when he died people weren't convinced" just tells me it's mainly Gojo fans (not jjk fans) who are coping with him. I was still invested in the other events where he wasn't there
You said something about Yuta in 261 not making sense because "how does it enlighten yuta or make him grow into an individual?" It doesn't. It's creepy and fucked up which I believe was the point which is something the story alludes to Yuta doing when Uro tells him to discard everything to become strong. When I saw it was Yuta my mind just went back to that moment uro tells Yuta that statement. But again I'm not a weekly reader so maybe it was just fresher in my memory than yours. Also Yuta was the one gege showed being worried about Gojo. When he is watching the fight and says he will go to help and when he kills kenjaku and regretting not going to help Gojo.
The last point on Gojo about how it invalidates everyone effort using Gojo's body again makes no sense because Sukuna has less chances of coming out of this one than if Gojo came back again for around two if he got fully incarnated
Please for the love of God stop saying Gege pulled it out of his ass. Everything being thrown at Sukuna at this moment has been established prior. Even Yuta stealing kenjaku's body is part of his own abilities. If you don't like the choices he is making, fine. But none of what is happening has been an asspull. What made zetsu an asspull was because they was no foreshadowing of his betrayal. No foreshadowing that the otsusuki would be important. Hell no foreshadowing sage of the 6 paths would even be important because it came across like he was some old legendary figure in the past that people recall. The main antagonist who drive the story absolutely were not interested in him beyond what they knew of his abilities so they could use. I'm sick and tired of people talking as if they know what Gege is thinking. Some Gojo idiots thinks he is pissing them off on purpose. While you think he is pulling shit out of his ass when most of what we see them doing is something we know they can do
I love Jjk but I agree it has many fautlts and I agree with quite a bit of what you said but saying it has no story has me so confused.
I thought you were gonna touch on the themes of dying alone, being a cog and it's themes on love and how gege may have been inconsistent with it or it's just a very basic theme and nothing to write home about but nah, you just jjk has no story
I analyse jjk a bit and look through other people's analysis and more often than not, what I arrive at is the same thing they are arriving at. So idk how jjk feels vague. Characters having different "curses" that pushes them forward. Gojo never having an identity. Sukuna's mindset always being validated in different ways.

I agree with you on all points, it feels like people want to have every detail spoon fed rather than look at all the details given. Every writing style is different, I love jjk and see its faults but when it’s literally basically ‘didn’t want to read the story how it’s written’. We’re genuinely not the cultural audience. I was gonna say gege isn’t a bad writer people are just stupid and haven’t read since middle school but it feels like people are reading and trying to get another Naruto or bleach or Dragon ball rather than JJK itself. Every story is told differently but at like at least read it properly before saying ‘story bad’. Like oh no a story has details I don’t see but am told about? An outrage. I see details but am not told them before, must be an asspull. In my personal opinion, Gege wants you to think like a sorcerer and draw the line for yourself because sorcerers have to piece things together as you get them and you’re supposed to be on your toes because nothing is real but somehow everything is. Idk man it just feels like context clues don’t exist anymore, the MOST basic writing tools is casually forgotten. It’s also sort of realistic you’re dropped into everything as it’s happening in certain povs and people pop up with something new and obviously you’re not gonna see megumi having bonding with his sister, with the context it obvious and any missing points can be exposed with being explained

I like the JJK Series, and I disagree with you saying the series is crap, but I can see some of your points, too it with the Characters pretty much don't have any deaf to them in the series at all and the fact that there's no world Building whatsoever. To me, the only people who are important in the series are Kenjaku, toji, and sukuna.
Toji being the one who stops the merger between the star vessel and tangan to have Tangan merge with the entire of japan, the final plan of Kenjaku.
Kenjaku Himself, the literal person who planned everything in the series, Itself, such as sakuna's vessel being yujI, sealing gojo away, bringing back ancient Sorcerers from 1000 years ago, merging the entire population of Japan. and other things he did in the middle to achieve his plan.
And last sukuna The only person strong enough to achieve it to the very end.
JJK Story, to me, is a story that's already planned and told before it was made. And now we're just seeing the conclusion of it.
    But that's just my opinion😅

Also Gotham isn’t even dangerous cause of the villians gothams bad cause think of the worst trenches in Mexico with the most active gangs Gotham is 10 times worst u got the mafia and cartel in thesame city a secret cult random supervillain gangs random super villians a large population of armed citizens with no morals in a low income area with a incompetent government not to mention rampant mental illness you’ll be luck to die to a actual villian u might get clipped by a bullet taking a walk at 6:30pm. Hell u could get killed buying groceries. Hell the few months where Gotham got taken over by the Batman who laughs is enough for me to end it all cause when that mf pull up to Gotham you got nowhere to run.

The thing with Gojo is, well there are several:
The first thing is the way he’s brought down is dumb. Sukana can just do shit on the fly with no rhyme or reason. They just sort of magicked in a way to get around his power.
Which brings me to the biggest thing: the dynamics of the way Gojo works makes him impossible to beat if we are functioning in a world with actual rules, which brings me to the seemingly obvious conclusion that Gojo should have stayed in the prison realm until the very end. Gojo should be the end of the Sukana fight conga line. Have Sukana be like… kill farming people who are coming to try and free/fight Gojo and have them plan a series of attacks on Sukana to where him down to make it easy for Gojo to take him out of the box. Have the whole conga line of special grade sorcerers fight him, with a big dramatic fight with Yuji where he kicks ass but it isn’t enough. Sukana starts to mock him for his foolishness and weakness for daring to think he could step up to him and Yuji just spits out some blood and smiles and reminds him that, hey, you’ve been in my head, you know I played lots of sports. I’m a real team player. And then cut to the reveal that Yuji was a part of a distraction, so they could get Angel to free Gojo. And then they let Jesus (Gojo) take the wheel, so to speak. Gojo is more narrative tool than person, so he might was well be used that way if it makes a more logically consistent story.

the progression of jjk is really funny to me because it feels like watching rice be slow-cooked in chicken broth until it reaches the congee plateau. i dropped jjk pretty early on, but i've always been so curious about how it was going ever since i heard gojo and nobara died! pretty disappointing to see the author pull all punches that could actually leave an impact, but it's cool to hear your thoughts on it all! very fun video

Personally I watch anime for only 3 reasons, because I grew up on it, to gather some philosophical insight, for entertaining fights. JJK has everything I want out of an anime especially the philosophical insight, particular the egoistic themes which contrasted my upbringing and helped me become more self focused instead of trying to be some sort of savior.
