Bryston 4B power amplifier Rewiring and Modifications. Future plug and play upgrades

Mike Woodcock of Absolute Sound of Chatham, Ontario, Canada walked through what we did to this 35 year old Bryston 4B power amp. We rewired the entire amp and did some interesting modifications for future upgrade to improve the performance of this amp.

I have the 4E since 98, the right channel did not work recently, turned to local repair technician who I knew and trusted more than 30 years, waiting for parts.

It was my impression that dual mono circuit topography is a desirable feature for stereo signal separation, imaging and soundstage. Will there be a perceptible alteration of those sonic qualities due to the combining of the 2 transformers, thereby defeating that design? Are you trading that for (as you claim) a somewhat lower noise floor? Thanks.

I have a 1986 4B, bought s/h 20 years. I've not used it for the last 7 or so, because although the power, bass quality and control was formidable, I grew to really dislike the 4B's midrange glare and grain. Do any of these mods improve, or hopefully remove, that? I had assumed it was probably the amplifier modules, since the 4B always had that reputation.
