    Still one of the greatest engineering achievements in aviation and one of the most beautiful machines ever made - might even be THE most beautiful machine ever made

    TEN YEARS LATE !! I KNOW THE LOCAL COUNCIL HAD OTHER SERIOUS DEMANDS ON IT'S FINANCES, BUT LEAVING THE LAST CONCORDE, VIRTUALLY ABANDONED OUT OF SIGHT, ON THE FAR SIDE OF THE AIRFIELD FOR TEN YEARS , ROTTING AWAY, WAS A BLOODY DISGRACE TO THE CITY, THAT CREATED AND BUILT HER.

      Exactly

      Probably because it wasn't a Somali Airlines aircraft and wasn't a plane identifying as a tank.

    The G-BOAF was the plane I used to fly to New York in 2003!

      Made in Bristol in 1979, yes, it was the last one made, and THE last one to fly.

    That aircraft is a thing of utter beauty .... You'd think a country like the UK would have kept just one flying to remind everyone just what we can achieve (with friends) when we put our minds and capabilities to the test.

      @@MrDaiseymay Well said. To think we were the world's leading aerospace country right into the '70s and dumb Governments of all persuasions just let it all die away.

    I have seen G-BOAF in her new home and it appears she has been cleaned considering the grime present on the fuselage In this video. BA Concordes really haven’t been looked after, the Intrepid’s Concorde in New York is sadly in quite a mess.

    • @MrDaiseymay
      @MrDaiseymay ปีที่แล้ว

      AND so is the Seattle one, also left out in all weather's with not even a cheap plastic cover. BUT, they ARE, spending $5million on a display for a Space Shuttle. No doubt, the Third Concorde in Washington (I think) has been treated no better. Given Concordes unique place in History, and free gifts from one country to another, it's a bloody disgrace.

    Great to see....it looks weather beaten. I hope a re paint and new BA decals will be fitted as those ones are all faded.

      @JayBee6011  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, the topside is especially weather beaten, underside still nice and shiny. Not a repaint but a good clean and polish which should improve things.

      she deserves to look her best. I hope the Red and Blue decals can be polished up!

      Seen it yesterday and its still faded. I was told that it kept it original. Shes out of the weather now at least.

      Once the damage was done, I only expected, a good clean, which is what she had, and not too bad when i visited a week after opening. Flying at Mach 2 on the edge of Space for over 20 yrs, would obviously leave it' mark. @@Roadwarrior92

    This is why infrastructure projects in the UK costs over 100% more than other countries. Men in safety jackets employed to walk next to the plane for some miniscule safety rule

    • @ChrisBrown-Concorde216
      @ChrisBrown-Concorde216 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve seen the results of what can happen when a perfectly serviceable Concorde was towed/guided out of a hanger with less than the minimum safety tow crew in place. That Concorde was G-BOAF . That’s why she carries the main droop nose structure of one of the prototypes. It’s an expensive thing to allow happen for the sake of the right number people in “Safety Jackets” . Fox was laid up out of service whilst the relevant investigations & subsequent modifications & repairs were made to render her airworthy.

    Disgusting how the move was kept quite so nobody could see the shameful demise of a beautiful plane being consigned to sit in a bloody hanger instead of doing what she was meant to do FLY

      @MrDaiseymay 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The argument that she should be flying has been voiced hundreds of times since 2003.That was beyond anyone's control. What WAS disgraceful, was the neglect, in finding her a decent home these last 15 years. Now that, is unforgivable, considering that a rich city like Bristol, and the home of Concorde, should be so indifferent to her needs. Smaller and far less well-off country's have provided excellent museum's for THEIR Concorde's.

    To anyone complaining about British Airways neglecting these now redundant aircrafts - They dont make any money for the company anymore so why would they care about them? We should think ourselves lucky that they even decided to put this one in a hangar and pay for its upkeep as most other airlines woulda sent them to the crusher to be recycled lol ........

      I doubt very much if B.A ever considered the retired Concordes as their responsibiliy, after all, they were 'free' to the receiver's.( they were FREE, in the beguining, to Both Airlines too)
