Sad Songs - YourBrotherMo (Demo)

I’m a person who feels very deeply - whether anger or sadness, joy or apathy. My emotions are always strong and often close to the surface.
When I think of who I am, I see myself as an extension of my parents, both of whom are the eldest in their family - so I am, first and foremost a brother, to my siblings and close friends and a lyricist second.
The type of lyricist that I wish to be is one that paints an honest picture of his life, experience and perspectives, while building on the lyrical conventions of the cultures and artists that inspire me, hopefully creating a body of work that is unique, connects with others and uplifts them in some way.
I’ve always wanted to be happy and love seeing people happy. At many stages in life, sadness has dominated my experience, though, I’ve rarely allowed myself to embrace it publicly.
This songs, explores the contradictory nature of wanting to create music that is elating while dealing with expressing honestly the landscape of an artist’s mind and experience.
I find myself hiding my sadness in beautiful music, metaphors, melodies and flows so that they can be enjoyable for people, all the while, attempting to convey the truth of the raw and often difficult emotions that compel me to write and produce songs in the first place.
I’m not sure yet whether this an honest approach but I’m sharing my work as I learn how to create meaningful art.
