Tactical hint, definitely play the shrine it combos amazingly with mysticism. Also Cattle Raid is worth playing even when the bot has no materials to steal, as you get 2 materials anyway (and you'll want materials for your Shrine). Great play through again, looking forward to part III.
Just got this game and had a solo play through. Glad the errata of the bot flipping an unrest is there as that is what lost me the game! Loving these vids thanks
Very nice video as always. Just got this one and very much looking forward to playing it (thanks to your and Paul's videos). I'm guessing that the cheeky discard of unrest cards is a valid play as Nigel didn't make you correct it? I was wondering as well reading the rules if it was the intent ;)
Sure - Mysticism's solstice effect (which is mandatory as it has no 'MAY' in the text) is either take an unrest OR discard 2 cards - Ricky discards 2 cards, so all good. Only risk of keeping all the unrest cycling in your deck is collapse if the unrest deck runs out, and it's close but not at critical yet ... once you're down to 2 then all it takes is the bot to acquire cards twice from the market (with unrest) and the new cards flipped in to not be regions and it's all over. Bot has some unrest, it's a matter of timing if it returns the unrest before getting more ...
@@nigelbuckle3759 Thanks. And I lost my first game with collapse (thinking I had won as I had less unrest cards, but Ricky corrected me ;). Maybe if there's an updated PDF of the rules at some point, it'd be a good idea to adapt the reference sheet at the back of the solo rules with the solo win conditions :)
I have never played this game but it seems very procedural. Just from watching, the Civilization theme isn’t coming through for me. Maybe it’s a game that needs to be played to be appreciated. I thought the same of Arkham Horror the card game before I actually played it... it’s one of my favorites now.
It is very much a card game, with combinatorial tactics in its DNA; but the theme shines through very strongly. The artwork is really great and the join-up between an individual card’s text/icons and its theme is really very cohesive, and each Nation has its own strategy that fits its story. So far so great !
@@craigandrews7544 No not yet. Unfortunately I still have games that have never been opened that need to be played. Yes, let’s just call it what it is… an addiction :-)

love the advice ! thanks Nigel. I’ll be putting that advice into action in part 3!

I was hoping you’d get the reference! I figured a Brit would be more likely to get that one!
Less complicated than Mage Knight, but highly rewarding for us history geeks.
very much so !

Feeling the same. Did you ever play the game?
