What amazes me about Sutton is how she can do that entire tap dance number and still have enough breath to sing like its nothing. Like we're doing this musical for my theatre group and by the time we get to the choreographed part of the dance I can barely breathe.
I believe that on Broadway they slowed the music down near the end of the tap sequence so that she could catch her breath and sing, or at least that's what I've seen on the dvd
Try singing whilst you do sit ups, to practice your breathing. I do, it helps. I was thinking of singing at the gym whilst being on the walking band but it might look a bit weird lol

Not really, to be honest. While this musical was fantastic, making another would probably be stretching it.

For everyone wondering *Here is how she does the quick change*
First let me start by saying that what you see on Netflix has been edited, so it's not real. So what happens is Fiona says "I can't" and runs off stage while a fake Fiona backs on stage and stands with her back to the audience the entire time. While this happens the Fairytale creatures are coming out and causing a ruckus easily distracting the audience from this subtle switch. *When Fiona walks upstage toward the stain glass window in the Netflix version, it shows Sutton's face, however she wouldn't actually be there at that time*, the video was just edited to make viewers even more skeptical of just how exactly did she do it?? The lights then dim and come back up rather quickly, that is when the Fiona's switch spots and Sutton Returns. How they actually pull it off, getting her makeup, fat suit, prosthetics, etc. on in time and without looking terrible? I have no clue, but that is how the quick change is performed. If you are watching on Netflix, watch for her run off the stage and run back on and face backwards the entire time at about 1:55:20 or 15:00 left

She explains all that in her interview when the musical came out. There’s Sutton as the main princess Fiona and there’s another actor as the ogre Fiona.
But still Sutton is amazing. She did a tap dance and still sang beautiful without being out of breath.
What about the young Fionas?
when Fiona becomes ogre Fiona... what happens? At first I thought it was a different actor but there are certain qualities of ogre Fiona that Sutton has, like the eyes... but it takes Shrek 1 and a half hours to put on his mask and Fiona 3 seconds.... how??
In one of her interviews when she comes off stage she stands still while a bunch of stage hands change her to Orge Fiona. She said they got it down within a minute, it's pretty unreal.

well,when she runs off stage the fairytale creatures pull a different actor in, they are putting facepaint and ogre ears on a head band on the real actor. For my school's, play, they did that and put green gloves on her hands. (I was a bunny)
Well the either do it SUPER quick or have other actresses
They switch her for a body double and then she puts on the face stuff backstage then she comes back out

Madie Leigh Fiona had another girl dressed in an ogre costume who comes on in full prosthetic and lip sings while real Fiona is having a heart attack getting prosthetics and new wig and fat suit on then for I'm a believer she comes on and finishes the show

Ok here we go... Shrek comes on and shouts "stop the wedding" then Shrek and Fiona do a little scene together where Shrek serenades Fiona blah blah blah. Then Lord Shorty says something and Fiona runs toward a gate thing. Sutton runs off as Fake Fiona runs on. From the audiences perspective it looks like Sutton as been stopped at the gate. So while Sutton is backstage being made to look like Ogre Fiona, Fake Ogre Fiona fills in for her and then after Shrek and Fiona kiss, Fiona stands by the altar of the Church and there is strobe lighting and shouting and all sorts of distractions so the audience doesn't see Fake Fiona run off and Real Fiona run on. Sutton then finishes the show. However on the filmed version of the musical some scenes were shot in an empty theatre for close ups etc and when Fiona moves toward the altar to become an Ogre, you can see Sutton's face. However in a live performance Fake Fiona always has her back to the audience so it doesn't give away the switch of Fiona. 😊
Grace xxx your right except for one thing fake Fiona goes on the podium then the lights go off and the fake Fiona runs off and Sutton comes back on she's on stage before the kiss

i think sutton needs to be cast in gilmore girls next to lauren, she was amazing in bunheads, i think put her in a role in gilmore girls revivie i will be lmfao
+linda frank Yeah,but in Bunheads Sutton played the same exact character as lauren played in Gilmore girls.I heard that she will be in GG the 4 minimovies as lauren grahams friend.

At this point in the series I think it's pretty safe to say this show is going to get nominated for best musical at the Tony's. Let's face it. It's inevitable. Now, I'm not that big of a theatre buff so I'm not aware of any other new shows out there this season that could mean competition. Can anyone fill me in?

@@chihuahuas346 doing good. Since then I’ve been in a couple musicals and have seen more musicals. I’d say now I’m a big Theater guy at the age of 30. I haven’t seen Shrek aside from the Pro Shot but I still think it’s great and wildly entertaining! My favorite musicals right now are Hadestown Into the Woods and The Producers.
