Chelsea…I am not a farmer, homesteader, canner just an 80 year old wannabe. I really really enjoy your channel and all the work you do to produce and preserve your crops. I also love the knowledge you impart on many of your cooking, baking, growing, animal raising, etc. Thank you
I love your idea of quiet time! I’m 71 years old and I’ve fought naps my whole life because my dad took naps and slept for close to 2 hours every afternoon no matter what! My mom could never make any plans unless they included his naps. But I have a garden and we have a home that needs the normal maintenance and some days I’m exhausted! I may try the 30 minute quiet time!
I love that you accept the weed situation for what it is. You don't seem to be frustrated and frazzled and I hope that is true. I love your channel and the joy of life, family, animals and garden that you bring.❤❤❤
I’m so happy the new calf and momma are doing well. Honey is truly that, a honey. I don’t know how you do all you do… I am so glad though, because I get to see it.😊❤
First off, you are a lovely person to watch. I’m thankful I found you. I have 40 acres and love the variety your channel offers. Thank you for the wonderful honest content. ❤️ p.s. ~ your hair is gorgeous!!!!
The new bull calf is so beautiful. I wanted to lay next to him for a cuddle. Thanks for popping up in my feed today, I always like to take time to relax and you videos just are calming. Thanks again. . .
Perfect name for the new baby. He is adorable. Liked the apron, maybe I’ll try and make one using heavy denim. Can’t justify 65$ for myself. Oreo did look shy but he enjoyed the scratches.
The little harvest pouch is so cute! It reminds me of when I used to work at a living history farm and we would tuck the corners of our aprons into the waistband to make a pouch to hold veggies, fruit, or eggs while we harvested. It was a really efficient method because it was hands free. I guess this is just the modern version!
Your calves are so cute! My mom got me a Roo apron for Christmas! I cannot wait to use it! I love my freeze dried scapes. I also blended them up. They worked perfectly.
Do you give the pulled weeds to your chickens? Would give them to my neighbors birds. They loved to see me bring them over. I never used chemicals anywhere on my property so they were safe for the birds.
Thanks for sharing your life with us and your ideas! Wow! Frost in July! Your gardens are amazing! I still need to get your cookbook! That apron sounds great!😊 Love your channel!
Cute calf! Congratulations. Garden looks wonderful. When I tie up my tomatoes I use a piece of string and then go down the row about four foot, scoop up all the vines with the string and tie it to the fence...and down the row I go. Then I wind some vines through the fence. Takes no time to do. I get more broccoli from my side shoots than I do from the head itself. The cauliflower leaves are good in stir fry and ferments as well. Good video!
I just slapped my forehead! What a great idea. I do that with the ones on the outside wall of the greenhouse, but never thought to do it on the trellis! Thank you.
Another great video. Our garden here in Northern Michigan is behind its usual size. Very few fruits, and few blooms. We have been extremely hot, and have only had 1/2 inch of rain in 10 weeks. I am keeping the faith for a decent harvest. May all of our hard work pay off.
Your brassicas are beautiful! I haven’t seen very many cabbage moths either! Lots of grasshoppers though, and slugs in my well watered beds. Woke up to slug damage on my onions of all things. Hope you have a wonderful week! I look forward to your videos
Oh man, i went through that stage of weeds one year when i went away for a week, had to weed whack, couldnt keep up, then i laid plack plastic from silage storage sheets ... i cut to size and laid between rolls, One side is white one side black, black towards ground, laid some dirt olong edges and abit on top to not fly away , used 6 years since , otherwise never can keep up..
Wonderful happenings & great progress on your homestead! Thanks for sharing & adding so much to our lives! My little gardens still grow big weeds but I got my raspberry & strawberry patch weeded today! Blessings to all 🤗💗🇨🇦
Your videos give me energy and good ideas. I also have a lot of vegetables and love to grow them all and have a poly tunnel that can be like a jungle like yours once in a while!! Have you ever grown Elephant garlic? I don't remember if you told us. All the best to you all.
Hi Love your garden and the calves they are so beautiful and healthy, wow that stir fry looks amazing, even though you have some challenges in the garden you battle on like a true trooper.I have ordered a joey bag fantastic for some that needs 4 hands as i use sticks to get about its another pair of hands.Thank you for your amazing helpful video's look forward to the next one.
My tomatoes (zone 5B. SW Missouri) are over the top of the cattle panels and I didn’t remove suckers after the first 2-3 trims.. so my branches are loaded and breaking.. I’m taping the splits with electrical tape and tying up the branch to position the splits to keep torn edges together.. the split branches are surviving, but that’s about it.. pulled my first three tomatoes yesterday. They were reddening, but not yet fully ripe..
I'm subbed to you but I don't remember when I did. So this is like my first video and I just love what your doing and many prayers go out to your and your family God bless you all
Will you have abundance kale seeds available for sale at some point? I remember from another of your videos....The black water bottles you had in a green house from a previous property. Would that help in your hoop house, to keep the temperatures more stable for the peppers?
Oh he is such a sweet boy my gosh. That is crazy frost damage wow. Our weather is really out to lunch this year worse that ever yet. Very scary. Your basil still looks beautiful. Mine totallty doing very poorly. Stir fry looks amazing yum. Oh the freeze dried basil yum. xo
How do u know when garlic is ready to pull? I did pull one and it is very small! We planted them in the fall! I have hard neck and have garlic scapes too! I would love to make garlic scape powder!!!
How are you venting the high tunnel this time of year? And does that change later into the season? I'm trying to make a final decision on a set up for our garden in NW Oregon. Thanks for your beautiful content!
I am in SW Idaho. I have a high tunnel that’s 20x30 with rollup sides, a big door in one end, 2 exhaust fans and shade cloth. The high tunnel still gets up to 120F in the summer. I have tried growing tomatoes and peppers in there and they have not produced much at all. It’s frustrating!
@@LaylaWisoky this is my concern, as I have heard of people having great success and those that find it's just too hot. It would still work great as a season extender, but I'd love to have better success with heat loving crops midsummer in my short growing season with cool nights all summer.
Just my opinion ✌️don’t wash your veggies directly into your kitchen sink even though you clean it or not. Lol My anxiety even not my own ✌️do as you want. Lol

So, amazing, Nature. You put in these little seeds, and out pops all that beautiful green and food!! Very satisfying, I'm sure.
Great reminder of all the times I had to go bring the cows in when I was a kid... Central Alberta.

Nah, life has taught me not to sweat the small stuff - I still spent the last 3 days straight weeding though! Lol

I thought the price was steep too until I saw the quality… but if you have the skills you could definitely make one!

I didn't know cabbage would send out offshoots! Always learning from you and enjoying the videos so much while I learn something!
I heard that if you don’t break off the frost damage, the plant will work on trying to fix it instead of concentrating on new growth.
Love love love your garden tours!
Oh your dogs, especially oakly but the other one aswell, such good doofs (and that is not meant in any negative way) They are so cute

We went to shop for a milk cow and we came home with 3!!! I do the same with dogs every time I go to renew licenses at the county kennels
Lol! They were too good a deal to pass up and my selling Thistle we’ll make back what we spent on all three!

i dont have red tomatoes either in montreal.... such a weird year... even now we have wild mushrooms that grow normally late late summer...

Thanks so much for the lessons! How do you store/ preserve broccoli and cauliflower?
Freeze!

I bought them from Amazon. Truth be told the hoops are great but the netting is super flimsy and won’t hold up long.

We are in South Central PA and have had 2 ripe tomatoes but our plants only got about 2 1/2 feet tall.
What was the pepper food you used please….❣️
Hi Chelsea- is it worthwhile to dehydrate basil or is it better to make pesto and freeze it? Thank-you.
Depends what you want to use it for in the end. I use dried basil in everything so for me drying or freeze drying is best.
Love the garden!!where did you get the boots?
Grubb boots! They are great.
Do you eat the flowers of the garlic scapes? I’m about to pull mine, and I’m not sure of what to do with them. Thank you 😊 😊
I just choked them right up with the stocks.
What are you using for netting and clips on your cabbage and broccoli?
Something I got off of Amazon. Don’t want to recommend it until I’ve used it for a season.

I have roll up sides and back and front door. The tunnel is oriented to take advantage of the prevailing winds which blow from the south usually.

Chelsea do you harvest your lambs quarters?
Sometimes, but usually just to the chickens and pigs.
How much do you trim off of your onion tops? High tunnel does look like a jungle, beautiful veggies.😊
