Great video! I first came to your channel to find out information on RIU Reggae in Mo'Bay, JA. I'm going there for a week with a cousin of mine from England next month - 26th Nov. He's never been to JA before. I live in the Netherlands. This will be my 8th trip to Jamaica. The last few times I have been to Jamaica I have only stayed in resorts. Most of my Jamaican family on both sides have either passed on or do not live there anymore. Shame really, because I like 'country' in Clarendon where both my parents come from. BUT I also saw this video. I was in the EXACT resort you are in now RIU Palace, Sal almost 2 years ago. In fact I sat on the exact table you were sitting on in the Steak House!! I just love the resort. The part that really freaked me out apart from it being my first ever trip to Africa was just the walking along the beach. It was surreal just walking on a wide, white sandy beach next to a green/blue turquoise sea with practically no one on the beach apart from a few kite surfers. I walked for miles on that beach every day. RIU Palace, Sal is for me the definition of a rest - not much to do, quiet, decent food, nuff drink and fairly quiet fellow holiday makers. I chose RIU Reggae as my next resort because I wanted a party atmosphere. But to be honest, it looks too much of a party with noise all the time. Plus the beach itself looks man-made. It would not be so bad if they played 'proper' Jamaican tunes, but as it sounds like its pure dancehall they play down there, which for me - a big man is pure noise. Anyway, I hear the food in RIU Reggae is good - so that is a good sign. Last December, I went to a RIU just north of Cancun, Mexico. I met some Jamaicans at Amsterdam airport at the departure lounge. The flight changed in Montego Bay before flying on to Cancun. The Jamaicans all warned me not to go to Mexico. Now I know why. On my first full day at the RIU resort, some guy was shot dead on the beach, just 100m away from me and another guy took 2 bullets in the back, but survived. I did not see the shooting, but saw the dead body just lying there on the beach. I tried getting money back from the Dutch tour agent, but they in typical tight Dutch style said no. I know its crazy, but I do not think I will go to Mexico again. One thing I will be very wary of in RIU Reggae - is mingling with black Americans. I have decided I do not have a vibe with them. They come over too aggressive and rude in so many instances in my life, across Europe and the Caribbean. Shame really, because I like meeting fellow people from all over the world.
