Hey Dire, if you change you OreExcavator to ‘NONE’ rather than ‘5x5’, it will veinmine a bigger area and normally all of the leaves on a tree at once.

Just some small tips as a fellow skyblocker!
-Flint can be combusted into Gunpowder
-You are able to essentially combust Wood to Diamonds, but it will take a lot to make one
-If you were to get as much Evolved Enderman as I have you could consider making an Endstone Condenser which will yield over 3 STACKS of Iron per dust, which is hard to maintain using Crystal Shards bringing me to the last tip:
-You can make a Smooth Stone generator on top of a Condenser and get ores this way (which you are able to double at this point).

Dust into ore is good for some metals, but not for others. It's better for example for iron because the doubling of the ore gives you more than if you got it directly, but for gold it's better to go alchemical dust into ingots. But then again I made a manual pigman farm for now and I don't know what to do with all the gold I get in a short amount of time.
Ore doubleing is nice, but once you get over stack of Iron from one dust its rather annoying to smelt if afterwards...
Wait, doesn't the endstone condenser require purpur? I'm working on gated heavy engineering atm and still haven't seen a method of purpur...
Michael Merrick I got it without Purpur, maybe it has been updated since I got it in an older version?
Michael Merrick it requires purpur now which is a gated item. But the combustion heater doesn't and while not as good as getting the condenser, it's still a pretty good option to invest into.

'I'll try to explain the condenser ratios in a way of when to pick between crystal fluid to ingots or stone to ores. This is based off of how much alchemical dust is used.
So, in JEI, there's the # output
For iron ingots, that's 3.9962 and iron ore is 2.374. Using this, you can divide the ingots by the ore (3.9962/2.374=1.683).
That means that you will get 1.683 times as many ingots as ore! Meaning that ore doubling is cheaper and saves on more alchemical dust.
Gold, on the other hand, is better through crystal fluid (unless you have ore tripling or better) as ingots/ore (1.6662/0.6995) is 2.382. You'll get 2.382 times as much gold ingots than ore.
As you look in JEI, the longer it takes and the lower the output #, the better ingots and crystal fluid will be.
So for copper, go for the ore. For Platinum, go for ingots!

You can make a firewood pickaxe to smelt cobble when you hit it. Saves you the smelt process

1)Right click coarse dirt with a hoe to have a dirt.
2)Also you can craft coarse dirt in 2x2 crafting with dirt in left top and right bottom slots and gravel in other two slots.
This way you get 4 coarse dirt from 2 dirt and 2 gravel. (use step 1 to repeat the cycle)

Hey Dire, once you get tertius, the best way to get dirt is through the alchemical table. You can either use plant matter or enriched bone meal with soul sand to get dirt. Also, you can automate cobble gen now by making a magmified stone and putting crystal liquid next to it. Then, put a wooden hopper where the liquid will push the cobble to so it picks it up and puts it in a chest. I did it on my world and now I have a chestful of cobble.
This is a bit into the future, but you should keep in mind that getting an end stone condenser is your door to paradise. With tertius you'll get several alchemical dusts of whatever variety you choose (iron, gold lead, etc.), which will turn into numerous stacks of ingots in the end stone condenser. Double that, if you replace the crystal fluid with smooth stone, which will create ores which can be doubled using a sluice box and smashing table (But the sheer output of the end stone condenser is so big that you really don't have to worry about stone at all. The convenience of it turning straight to ingots far outweighs the ore doubling).
Catalysing glands can be turned into gunpowder (6 per i believe) also flint can be combusted into gunpowder if you dont get alot of creeper spawns/ dont feel like waiting.

Dire, Love this series, for easy to get gems, complete the tinkers firewood quest, make a firewood binding for your pickaxe, and get autosmelted cobble
Here we see Dire not knowing vanilla mechanics again.
Just make a drop farm to automate certain mobs.
Big elevated dark room at least 25 blocks up with channels of water to push mobs into a 3x3 hole with hoppers at the bottom. Leave a slab cutout just above the hoppers to kill anything that manages to survive the fall. It won't get you player only drops, but for the amount of zombie flesh and gunpowder you need it's great. You can even keep your existing mob trap so long as you rig both dark rooms with a light to turn them off.
Just remember to only make the dark room 2 blocks high unless you want endermen teleporting all over the place when they touch the water.
Tinker's is unlocked, he could make punji sticks.
he knows about drop farms, you see them often on his other series, but i think he is going to wait until he can get drops of evil so he can make a cursed earth mob spawner
I know he has used them before, but he occasionally forgets vanilla solutions exist. This is exactly the type of situation that calls for a vanilla solution, since most mods are locked out.

I personally don’t see the point of making a drop farm atm. He could just get some spikes and mob fans/vector plates (or some alternative if neither of those exist or aren’t possible for him to craft). While you could argue and say it’s less efficient, it’s a skyblock so mobs will spawn like crazy so I don’t think that would really matter. He probably won’t do this but he could make a bigger one later that consists of just a large platform with mobs being pushed to the center. It would probably be quicker to build and be as efficient as a drop farm if not more.
Dire, you can automate cobble with a wooden hopper, crystal fluid, and the magmified stone. The quest book told you about it.
Hey Dire, the mod that makes trees grow faster when you move around them works for crops too. Just spam shift and they'll be fully grown in a moment or two. This may be in a later version than the one you are running though.
1) Hammer the skulls to get 6 gunpowder a piece.
2) An item grate on your combustion Multi-blocks allow you to throw things in and take them out without opening/mining anything.
Actually you can automate a mob farm right now using Vanilla. Oh wait! This is Direwolf20. As for Evilcraft I believe you'll be quite pleased when you find out what the mod can do for you in this mod pack, which happens to include heavy mob farm improvements. #skyfarming
Direwolf, please use an item grate on your combustion chambers. It's painful watching you break cobblestone over and over just to get stuff into the chamber.
You can also use a quark stone wall in place of the cobblestone.

Dire why don't you just take a minute of fishing to get an oak, spruce or birch sapling? They are much better trees because of how they grow.
Gun Powder comes from combustion of Flint. After you upgrade, you won't need 2 combustion contraptions, but you might dedicate one to automating coal (for diamonds). Evolved Enderman spawn on any spawnable ground...constant annoyance.
The mob drops that craft into respected items are sitting in chest. Can get good amount of gun powder from creeper one!
Potatoes on a Stick are an excellent food source!
Dire, rush for an energy condenser chest. It'll take like 5 diamonds, 4 obsidian, and the rest is materials you already have. It'll allow a LOT of different things, removing a lot of annoyingness
NOTE: the different dusts needed MIGHT say "restricted" but just look at their recipe, and they're not. You can craft them without any chapters unlocked

There is a stone grate or whatever it's called, counts as a valid block and can let items through

It's a very forgiving void... but you must still feed it.
It's probably time to upgrade to a mob dropper
You can make an Osmium Casing from clay and glow stone; 3033 HU and 130% efficiency instead of netherbrick casing. Also Tinkers Kama for harvesting leaves and is repairable.
Hey thanks for showing that falling off doesn't exactly equate to instant death. I was hesitant to play because of that belief. I might actually try this pack.
Dire you can already automate cobble with the magmafied stone which is a quest.
@1:35 Osmium is a great choice early on. not too hard to get enough to make a casing.
Get flint from gravel. And turn that flint into gunpowder.
Dire, you can use the Item Grate on the side your drop itens in the combustion multiblock , it is a valid block ;D
Dire, look at the "Player Trap" from Dark Utilities.
It's like a gold spike that allows hoppers underneath to still pick up the items.
All you need is a mob head and two stone.

get potato and cook it and then pot it on a stick it give 4 hunger chunks and i think saturation.
use the grinder on logs to get wood dust and that make plant thing that makes dirt.
You can automate the combustion with vanilla dropper you just have to put the items in the dropper and push a button and no heat will be lost
Dire you can put a dropper on top of the combustion gen to automate it with a red stone clock

Dire, want to make life easier with smooth stone, make a pick with firewood and autosmelt it with vein miner. Stacks at a time.

You can automate mob farm by making vanilla mob farm . The one that make them fall and die. Because you need the loot not the XP . Unless the loot need player kill to drop .
Plants love twerking. Show your crops some love by twerking for them. (Weirdly even grass will grow into tall grass; cocoa pods and bonsai trees are even affected by twerking.)
I understand he didn't know that he could be using a dropper for the combustion chamber. But dire, of all people, for reasons unbeknownst to me, forgot all about pistons to open and close the chamber. I mean certainly a dropper would be better but after the first 3 times I saw him break it and replace the block I immediately thought about the piston. 1 iron, 1 redstone, some wood and cobble and boom! I haven't played modded in a severely long time so I don't know anything about 90% of these mods. I know vanilla Haha.

Use the pumpkin to get the snow golum and then use that to get snow and then snow becomes dirt in the iron freezer and its pretty much instant. Hoe the course dirt to make normal dirt, pretty sure thats a vanilla mechanic.
You have an special trapdoor to put on a combustion and don't need quit all time the cobble block of the top, i dont remember the name bus is of these skyblok special mod

you can get gunpowder from combusting flint bud :)
you can turn creeper hearts into gunpowder
I got a samurai helmet that gave me 4 extra hearts along with 968 luck so basically every kill on a mob I get about 80 like catalzying glands from creepers or zombie chunks same with blazes and enderman
And, add item grate to the combustor, can just drop things in that way without losing HU.
Yeah, you're totally right, the Quest rewards in this pack are totally disappointing. For the most part, it feels like quests are not worth doing. Because you only get those lootboxes, and they aren't even well stocked, like on forever stranded. They maybe help for the first hour of gameplay (IF you get something useful out of it) but other than that, nope. I mostly leave my quests unclaimed, and every once in a while, I claim em, and throw em in a crate.
Make an AA Iron Grate, it'll let you drop items in but it acts as a full block so it doesn't let heat out

Mastier by default it is ~, it was installed on my version of the pack.
And it's called ore excavator when you are looking for the config.

i think it also improves overall gameplay... getting your items back when they stayed on Y=0 is always pain...
iiinsane4 But there are still really easy ways of dying. There are mods that keep your hunger upon death (i utterly despise them), why not use that?
Dire, put the bonsai above a chest.
He hasn't bothered to make it a hopping bonsai yet, so that won't do anything.
Putting the regular bonsai pot on a wooden hopper doesn't do anything.
