The file is AWESOME!! I used it on my mower blade and I had the best mow since I first bought my mower!! No more clogging. It only took a few minutes on each blade. I even had a couple chips in the blade but the file took them out! I’m really glad I bought the file instead of the other more expensive stuff. Thank you!!! You’re hilarious btw….keep your videos coming.❤❤❤

Ah shucks thanks. I agree there are fancier ways to sharpen a mower blade but this is so simple. And that file is sweet for sure

Agree on this video. We're not all hillbillies, just raised as a child of the Depression. Always looking to save a penny.

I'm with you on the file, especially in the aspect of keeping them balanced. You dont wanna take off more than necessary. Just rebuilt the deck and put new g5 gatorblades on that old cub cadet I have. Hopefully itll be a while before I have to sharpen them. I've got a Honda hrx217 that came with a neat mulching blade design. Its 2 blades stacked on top of each other but staggered. Those blades are 4 years old and I've only sharpened them a couple times despite my cutting over an acre a week with them. Theyve held up wonderful as has the mower. Its $799 which is expensive for a pushmower, but it's a great mower

@@MowerMike not hardly, but the doctor says I need more excercise. I mow 5 small properties with the pushmower and on occasion use the riding mower on mine and my sisters yard.

Belt sander (3-4") is my favorite. Mower blades have a really simple, chisel-grind. Curved grinding wheels put more of a concave shape in the blade and/or take off too much in small areas while missing other spots. Like the file, you want a nice flat grinding surface and to match the angle of the existing blade. Try to find a belt that is 220ish grit and use light pressure. It shouldn't take very much. You can use a table-mounted unit or you can take a handheld belt sander and put it in the vise or clamp it down so the belt is up. Harbor freight has an inexpensive hand belt sander that is cheap ($40), and it's useful for all kinds of other things, so you're not wasting money on a single use tool

Wow that is great advice, I agree the bench top grinder is hard since it is curved.

A Harbor Freight 4 1/2" angle grinder is less than $20 and is far quicker. Use a grinding stone NOT flap sanders which are only fast at first. My method has worked for decades and only takes off as much metal as you want.

Flap disc all day. Time is money and like any sand paper, they have different grits if you can't handle 60.
25 years and counting I've not found anything comparable.

Fifty years and haven't found a better way than a 4 1/2" GRINDING WHEEL. 1/5th the cost of a flap wheel and keeps cutting instead of just at first like a flap wheel. Not going to debate this.

@@bottmar1 grinding wheel gets it too hot, unless you take more time. "Not going to debate this" 😆 But yet had to chime in. Have agreat day!

@justsomeguy. If a little heat was a problem I wouldn't be grinding them. My "hot" blades last me 250 hours or six years in my case. I'm not going to sharpen blades the hard slow way for imaginary benefits. I suggest you stop reading pamphlets about metal and get fifty plus years at metal work like me. I've tried all the methods TH-camrs rave about. They have their opinions and I have proven facts. You have a good day too.

@@bottmar1 250 hours on mower blades.....yeah okay.👍 My manual machine shop experience, moving into CNC, and heat treatment for tool and die, oh and another 20 years for a major AG dealership. All while mowing lawns on the side.... probably means you're right. You're the reason kids hate boomers.......calm down Francis.
