    Don't know if the person who emailed is a Muslim but Khadijah RA chose to marry the Prophet SAW purely because of his character - she was a wealthy businesswoman from a prominent family while the Prophet SAW was poor and an orphan. To anyone who judges their potential spouse based on superficial things - learn from the most perfect example of a husband and wife from our own history.

    i used to date a professional football player.. then he hurt his leg and he was too proud to work.... not with him anymore now since years, he still doesn't work.. but is a gambler now...was the worst relationship.. now i am dating someone, he comes from a very very poor family, he used to work as garbage man, cleaned the streets and was a pizza delivery guy all at once while going to university to study business, he has his own company now and it's going very well for him. don't judge people by their occupation, but by their character and determination. also.. my favorite uncle is a bus driver, and he is the best :p

    I feel like I really need to put this out there, for the girl who sent this question. I'm a highly educated woman who was once engaged to a a highly educated guy (gpa of 4.0) and let me tell you, his degrees meant absolutely NOTHING. He was constantly on and off jobs, didn't have any ambitions, and every step of the way felt like a struggle. We broke it off for different reasons, but that experience did teach me that degrees really do NOT imply security. I'm now married to a man who only has a high school degree, and let me tell you, while I was getting to know him, I had to fight tooth and nail to convince my family and friends that he was a decent, honorable, and brilliant guy, and he is literally the hardest working man I know. His life circumstances were not the same as mine or anyone else in our family, so how could they judge him? His entire life was a struggle; I won't go into details, but many men would not be capable of enduring what he endured; and it only made him more resilient and kind-hearted. Not everyone has the same opportunities in life, and REALLY, we're quite lucky to born be in a context that ENABLES us to study - never forget that.
    I ended up marrying him, and genuinely, I've never felt MORE secure in my life; God provides, if your intentions are pure and you marry a man for his heart, for his personality, and really for who he is, I genuinely believe God WILL provide for you. It might be a struggle at first, but believe me, it's worth it. We all need to compromise in some aspect when it comes to marriage, and as long as the man is hard-working, you will be fine. My family and friends adore him now if not only for how well he treats me. Oh and one more thing, I swear I kid you not,early on as I was getting to know him, I received so many proposals come via family/friends from doctors/engineers - it was like God was testing me to see if I'd cave and ditch this guy solely for superficial reasons. I had my sisters and my mother CONSTANTLY argue with me to get to know these other guys too, to at least give them a chance and I'd have nothing to lose, but I was convinced of my current husband.
    Integrity and hard-work goes a long way - I couldn't be happier now, he's the best husband a girl could hope for. I'm not saying every situation is like mine, but I do hope it encourages highly educated girls to consider guys that don't have a degree - you might be missing out on the most beautiful souls. I'll leave you with a quote that I find very, very powerful:
    "While young graduates are right to be proud of their university degrees, and they have now joined an elite club (only 6.7 percent of the global population has a university degree), they must never forget that their ability to obtain a degree had as much or more to do with luck than hard work and intelligence. Sure, they worked hard and did well in school. And yes, the fact that many of their classmates flunked out along the way suggests that making it to graduation was never a given. But, let's face it, all university graduates won the lottery by being born into a context that allowed them to get a university degree. " - William G Moseley

      Aya Tc I'm with a guy with a diploma my parents don't want him for that reason and cause he is less wealthy than us..he is very hard working and would sacrifice anything for me But everyone is against me :/ how come some women regret marrying someone less wealthy or educated than them?

    Someone once told me, "You do not just marry the person, you also marry their habits. So when you get serious about getting married, marry someone whose habits you like". This really stuck with me. This guy might be a bus driver, but the question should not be about his career, but rather his habits. Is he consistent in all areas of his life? Is he driven? Is he goal-oriented? does he have vision? how does he spend his free time? I really feel like the kind of person he is off the job will give you insight into the kind of person he truly is.

    I agree with what you guys said but I just want to point out that education should be something that is encouraged and put in a more positive light and this is coming from a struggling uni student who hates school sometimes. Having a degree doesn't mean you're wise and not having a degree doesn't mean you're dumb. However, if you do have the opportunity to go to uni and you're passionate about a subject you want to learn about you should definitely go for it. Ideally having a degree is more advantageous than not having one. People can take so many things away from you but they can't take away your education. Knowledge is power.

    • @chutney4208
      @chutney4208 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      That goes without saying.Any education a person has will always be beneficiary for them.
      It's just a point made because in this generation your put on the spot and even looked down on if you don't have some sort of higher education. When success can be attained without it and that's been made evident yet still it's a stigma.

      Purple Wilhelmina william I completely agree, I was just getting vibes that they were implying getting a degree is worthless. Steve Jobs and Muhammad Ali were so so intelligent and changed the world and didn't have degrees. I myself always think about the people who use their talent and are millionaires as a result and never graduated high school.

    • @leeebaps793
      @leeebaps793 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Fatima H and remember that people like Steve jobs and Muhammad Ali are exceptions AND excelled in fields that did not require a degree. The majority of everyday people will not go far without a degree or ridiculous family inheritance etc.

  • @iluvyosocks

    Honestly I agree university doesn't prepare you for real life situations or doesn't make you smarter however you shouldn't downgrade someone who has a degree. Becoming a doctor is in no shape or form easy thats why its seen as such a big achievement or people see you as knowledgeable as it does take someone of high academic ability to become a doctor.

    Great video and advice! I just wanted to add that whilst most people get a degree for better work opportunities and pay, there are also people who undergo higher education simply to gain knowledge and study something they are interested in. So the measure of success of your degree doesn't have to be the career you have post-degree, but the knowledge you gain.
