    🧪 WHAT IS BLUEPRINT?
Like past explorers, I’ve asked an unthinkable question: is death still inevitable or is a new era of longevity here?
After selling my company Braintree Venmo for $800 million, I built a team of dozens of medical professionals, became the most measured person in history, and achieved arguably the best comprehensive biomarkers in the world.
And I share everything with you, for free.
After having poor health habits as a kid, running myself into the ground from 20 years of building companies, and a decade of chronic depression, now, at the chronological age of 46, my biomarkers are in the top 1%.
And not just the top 1% of 46 year olds, but on many markers, such as my cardiovascular fitness, I’m in the top 1% of 18 year olds.
    Top 1%: Speed of aging
Top 1%: Muscle mass & function
    Top 1%: Fat mass
    Top 1%: Inflammation
    Top 1%: Cardiovascular
    Top 1%: Bone mass
    Top 1%: Sleep
    Top 1%: Combined clinical markers

THIS! When I asked i few South Koreans friends of mine why they hated the sun so much, they came up with a pretty similar view about why they avoided the sun. Plus they usually spend a lot of money on facial laser treatments and trying to look young and having flawless skin, so being under sun would be a waste of money for them. But people outside Korea think this is more about colorism and whatnot than anything else, which i believe is kinda false.

My research to date tells me that I need to get reasonable sun exposure as often as possible. The time of day is immaterial if I cover up after 50% of the time is would take me to burn during my sunbathing sessions.
Even though it's too late for my old craggy face that got sunburned very often in my youth, I still try to keep my face and hands covered throughout my sun sessions so as not to totally leatherize my face and hands. 😎
The benefits of sunshine vastly outweigh the risks. They include immune system improvements gained when my Vitamin D levels are up to our Paleolithic ancestor's levels as shown by the hunter gatherers on the African Savana like the Hadza and the Masai peoples.

I appreciate this more nuanced take on sunlight exposure, covering benefits as well as risks more candidly.
The vitamin D you get from sunlight is sulfated, unlike the vitamin d you get from supplements and most foods that naturally contain it. I believe that the only other source of sulfated vitamin D is mother's milk (maybe cow milk too). Felix Harder has a couple videos on the topic.
Also "improves mood and circadian rhythm" is a somewhat reductive way of saying that sunlight modulates many important endocrine functions, in some ways we don't fully understand yet, which contributes directly to overall health and longevity.
Australian observational studies show that older people (50+) who spend more time in sunlight have better metabolic markers overall, including less cancers (other than skin cancer).
But not all skin cancers are the same. Basal and squamous cell carcinomas are relatively benign, progress very slowly and have very high survivability rates, whereas melanoma is extremely dangerous and malignant. The former type is more commonly observered among people who spend more time in sunlight, whereas melanoma is more of a threat to people who spend less time in sunlight on average and experience worse cases of sunburn upon exposure. Spending more time in sunlight without getting sunburnt can protect you against the most dangerous kind of skin cancer that's actually likely to kill you.
It's probably true that white people who live in places with a higher UV index than where their ancestors are from (South Africa, Australia, Southern US) should take extra care of their skin health.
Nonetheless, as someone with light skin who lives at a relatively Northern latitude, I have myself started to avoid sunlight specifically from around 11am-3pm, and to use sunscreen every day.
I do believe it's possible to keep your skin healthy even without targeted sunlight avoidance and sunscreen application, by consuming more animal vitamin A (retinol) and vitamin C, like beef liver, to help regenerate collagen and skin cells in general, by maintaining skin hydration through fluid intake and exercise/heat (stimulating sweating and increasing peripheral blood flow), and by leaning into diets which increase sebum production (dairy/nuts) during periods of more intense sunlight. Those are just hunches though.

I noticed my younger sibling who loves to tan has worse skin than me, it's like a bunch of tiny wrinkles on her face. I avoided the sun for most my 20's, now 30 and I choose to only go out on rainy days or if I hike I stay in the trees for the most part. I also believe the brightness of the sun just hitting random shiny objects that you unfortunately look at throughout the day can also damage eyesight and it can be unavoidable without sunglasses.

    • @4grammaton
      @4grammaton 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Eye color determines how susceptible your eyes are to damage from strong light. Lighter color eyes (blue and grey eyes) get damaged much easier than brown eyes. I have brown eyes and I could look directly at the sun for a good minute or two as a child without any damage that I know of (I've been to the opthalmologist many times since then), whereas some people can lose their eyesight almost instantly.
