I'm anxious to get to level 16 to try this. I did set up a rather large field engine inspired by your videos, but I was limited because I had to use ADA's to take down my anchor, and even though I threw the fields over a large portion of the state of California it was the rural northern part of the state that didn't produce as much MU as I had hoped for. It was enough MU to go from bronze to gold illuminator but given that both anchors and the spine were roughly 100 miles apart I was hoping for more. In the near future I think I'm going to be setting up much smaller field engines to gain AP rather than MU until I can start using very rare battle beacons.
A hundred miles apart sounds like a huge distance! I guess rural is rural and yeah there’s not much MU for it. Still, that must have made an enormous splash of colour on the Intel map - I’ve only ever made a field that big once which was organised by someone brilliant and took more than 70 agents to clear and throw over London. That was onyx in one field but the solo game for MU is much more tricky. Definitely, the VR Battle Beacons will make it far simpler. Level 16 it is…
@@LessThanJessLTJ that was actually my second biggest field. The largest field I ever threw the anchors were 200 miles apart. I built the spine in Winnemucca Nevada. It was mostly empty desert though. That was a huge splash of color on the map. I think it drew some attention from other players because that area it a lot harder to throw fields over because there is a lot more activity there now. Nevada is a great place to throw huge fields with only a couple thousand MU but they stand out on the map pretty well. My Northern California fields would be nearly impossible to rethrow now. Several players threw blockers up to portals on mountain tops. There is too much snow to get to any of them anytime soon without a lot of difficulty. I have to admit though, I love mountain summit portals. The views are amazing.
Yeah that sounds like the way the game ought to be played. Real world and experience first with Ingress being a nice by-product of that. I still have the key from on top of England’s tallest mountain (which is pretty much a hill) but I remember the day very fondly so I can imagine having an excuse to climb mountains in better weather is a good thing. And definitely being the first one to submit a mountain top must be very satisfying…
Excellent stuff - no VR is also generally how I like to play. It often means having to be a bit more strategic. I occasionally have a month on CORE if I’ve got something planned but mostly I’m Free to Play. I’d rather spend the money travelling (and hopefully going to events).
Unfortunately, if they were all level 1 resonators, I wouldn’t be able to create a link long enough to reach the other portals. The higher level the resonators determines how long a link you can throw from it.
@@LessThanJessLTJ you are welcome )) also this single regular link amp in inventory looks like time stealer, you can't just swipe right to the last mod (sbul)
@@LessThanJessLTJ it was easy as there was no cross faction activity plus all of the portals were at a stretch sorted with distance and baam fielding on
Yeah that certainly helps - I’m sometimes penned in by both factions. I’m hoping to have a go at a 40 link battle beacon field engine at some point - just need the opening…

I made 21 layers of 24 to 23km in my area. total was 3m mu. I didn't use any vr item or virus. Pure free to play.

Very helpful, I made 5.9M in 30 minutes with 4 Battle Beacons.
Awesome! That is a huge amount and probably a mass of AP there too. Lot of fields?
@@LessThanJessLTJ Forgot to record AP. Since I did this project myself, I probably built 6 layers of CF each times.
Sounds very decent to me and a great way to use Battle Beacons productively.
Y U no place all 8 L1 res so it's easier to destroy them?

@@LessThanJessLTJ with 2 SBUL it would be enough to have L3 portal and link range 39 km
Ah cool - I didn’t realise the SBUL would make so much difference - I assumed it would be too little. Learning point for me. Thanks!

Inventory management - sometimes the biggest trial in Ingress. Trickier still when hoarding viruses…
I made 40 layers with a distance of 5KM. Each layer with min 85K MU. Total MU gain of 5.67 M MU with Double BB 56M MU.
That’s not only a very impressive MU but also a great field engine. Was it easy throwing all the links in time? Nice going!
