- Detailed look at the Thomas & Friends 3 pack Thomas Annie And Clarabel. This 2020 toy features some surprising changes, some are very obvious others are a tad sneaky to see. This Thomas 3 pack is extremely difficult to find in store. The train set features a larger scale Annie & Clarabel, and what's surprising is just how good these look compared to other variations of Annie & Clarabel. This change may signal a much needed change to these Thomas toys. This is how the toys should have been done 7 years ago. But sadly I see in problems with the Thomas The Tank in this 3 pack. There's lots of line detail issues. It's furry edged, often crooked and off colour. It's very different to the slightly earlier Trackmaster 2 Thomas trains I have. I can only assume there is a new factory doing these toys and they need to have a good look at quality control. Trackmaster 2 & Motorized toys generate many interesting factory errors that are fun to collect. Many of these Thomas toys also make for curious investments once you start to see how much they appreciate in a few years via online sale sites like eBay and Amazon.

I think that 2020 Motorized Thomas with Annie and Clarabel will probably be the closest thing we’ll ever get to Tomy Thomas returning to the western world.

Back in 2011 i used to watch this youtube channel all the time it's amazing how much its grown.

Why can’t the old trackmaster toys come back
Yes, that's an amazing idea, but the toy factory can only make bigger profits if they make really cheap toys. A 3 year old can't see if the toy is any different because he's yet to see the previous more awesome toys.
I pretty exclusively buy Plarail. Sure you have import fees but you get a quality product with track compatibility that doesn't change every couple years.

In the model series. Thomas was always kinked just higher than annie and clarabel. But in the later cgi series due to the render of thomas sporting many inaccuracies he is borderline shorter than them.

And not to The Railway Series which is what's most important.
@@leokimvideo well to be fair in the railway series they are based off a different style coach then the TV series. (They are bogied coaches in the railway series)

The reason why they are the darker roofs is because in some of the CGI incarnations of Annie and clarabel they have gray/black roofs but in the earlier incarnations of tm motorized they were white because they weren’t changed to black until 2016

In the newer seasons of the show, the roofs of Annie and Clarabel are darker. You can also see this in the newer 2013+ Annie and Clarabel.
I think it really does say alot about the Trackmaster motorized when they up the size of the 2 of the rolling stock and there's a significant decrease in performance, when I used to have my old Tomy pulling trains as long as me (granted I was alot smaller back then) and it would still albeit just manage to get along

A thing that’s different from the older Thomas: they changed the smoke box and the colour of the piece of plastic attached to the face is black instead of the same colour of the face
Your correct the smoke box is a different size, but why?

Wow that’s a dynamic unboxing if ever I have seen one! That fake Tomy Thomas in smithereens reminded me of when you put a fake Tomy Thomas in your crushing or mulching garden machine a couple of years ago, you use to crush a lot of dark side toys in that machine. Those detailed motorised Annie and Clarabel are nice but the thing that looses it for me are the faces! If only they could give Annie her shocked face so that she could be more distinguishable. I’ve got to say every time you pull out that stunning Tomy Steam Along Thomas from 2005 I get a nostalgia rush, if only 2005 could come out of the dark abyss for us. I literally remember Kmart use to have 2 isles dedicated to Thomas toys. One isle would have Tomy and take along and the other would be dedicated to wooden railway. But I was young back in those days. Leo how do you remember how Thomas stocks use to be in isles in shops? I would love to know. Lastly I was wondering, did you ever fix the steam function on your 2005 Tomy Steam Along Thomas? If not would there be any chances of a repair video to show us how to fix it?

So something to know is that in the show, Clarabel's eyes are further apart than Annie's. They usually don't put this on merchandise, but I guess that's what they'll start doing with Annie and Clarabel now that there is no facial differences expression wise.

To be fair, in the model series Thomas’ cab has always been taller than Annie & Clarabel, so Bachmann is accurate in that department. However, I find Thomas being just the same height as Annie & Clarabel alot nicer to look at. Anyways, I enjoyed this video and I am actually looking forward for what new Thomas merch is in offer, it seems as the show is going through controversial changes, the merch gets better (i wouldn’t say entirely better, but annie and clarabel being fully detailed says alot). History repeats itself

I find the new Annie and clarabel to be a step in the right direction with the track master range. The whole redesign seems to stray away from the countless Thomas reskins and focus more on the characters from BWBA. Im really hoping they make more characters that haven't been made like Fergus or a new design for a character like Murdoch.
I knew something was up when you lifted the lawnmower and Thomas' cab door had the black gap detail.
leo, i think that the reason why the newer thomas, annie and clarabel is a ‘lumpy runner’ is because of the coaches geared wheels. i have none myself, but i think that the geared wheels and how far the wheels are set apart affects how it runs on the track. maybe you could do a quick mod that you replace the new geared wheels with the older, smoother wheels then it’d run properly.

You had a far better look at this than I did, enjoyed the comparisons - I haven't really thought about the 'height' test for Annie and Clarabel, I think it's more the length for me but an interesting way to think about the scale. In the OG models I believe Thomas actually is a tad taller than his coaches.
It's strange, they make this new version of Annie and Clarabel just as the show is getting less realistic... truly curious to see what the toys do this year...
The early TV show purists will always argue the Bachmann HO scale model is the 'most accurate' Thomas models. The Railway Series shows the roof lines flat and so does the CGI era. In the Thomas model realm there are only a few examples where Thomas has a higher roof Vs Annie & Clarabel. It triggers arguments to what's right. I just say it looks better with the all flat roof line. Keep an eye out for many errors with the new 2020 'motorized' toys. There must be a new factory or machine doing the line artwork and there are many 'errors' coming through. As another comment has pointed out the new longer Annie & Clarabel has issues on CS Trackmaster track sections. This is a complex problem where the gear pattern on the wheels clash with the traction area in the track. It's literally adds a braking effect when running. This is what caused the very lumpy running. It's an astonishing problems to have come through to final product. It's a very impressive change in size and look but it runs like rubbish. I suppose in the end it's only a children's toy.
The second you showed a single image of the annies face i knew it was a knockoff lol.

You are right about there being errors I went to Walmart grab one of these and when I look at it later it was missing clarabel name printing on the model
I must say, I do like the redesign of the rolling stock, it looks more accurate. They just need to fix the sizes of the coal tenders.

I honestly think witch you prefer will depend on the annie and clairebel you grew up with tomy looks more like the classic series versions but trackmaster more so resembles the annie and clairebel seen in later series of the show

the big issue i see with the newer rolling stock is that they added the gear wheels to them, i have no idea why they would do this, it technically makes the engine stress more having to pull that type of rolling stock due to the wheels not being able to run very smoothly on the track, as seen when running on the tighter turn track, they just jump around because they cant move smoothly, it might also be due to the wheels being locked together instead of being free wheeled, causing the jumping to happen due to the gears not being able to set properly into the track
Back in the Tomy day Thomas have coloured buffer and painted skin instead of sticker. And a&c have painted roof instead of sticker too
Those new Annie and Clarabel cars remind me of the old days of trackmaster.

27:54 Leo the reason why engines on the inner radius are “lumpy” isn’t the engines, it’s the track.
You CANNOT use the longer turns with the special connections. It HAS to be the CS’s.
No sorry your wrong, even with CS track there's huge issues. It's a complex problem and it's due to the cogged wheels and longer wheelbase of Annie & Clarabel. It's a HUGE design error. The carriages literally have brakes on when running as the wheels fight with the track. No I wonder why does Annie & Clarabel have cogged wheels? There is no need for this. Quite a few other people are saying to be there's running problems on CS track
@@leokimvideo I know a fix of the Annie and Clarabel wheels, just swap them out with the older Trackmaster 2 wheels like the wheels that came from the trucks that came with Gator or the light grey wheels from the truck you used for your former super fast Thomas
And with the CS’s maybe try it and see if the issue was solved by Mattel
