Underrated tough guy. He could have and should have made movies with Vancleef, Marvin, Douglas. His acting is spot on and looked at by Hollywood purists as the benchmark. His spot in Reservoir Dogs is why the movie was a hit! The original OG!!

Outside of acting Lawrence Tierney was a real life tough guy. He took no crap from anybody. People knew when he had a few drinks under his belt to stay away from him because he was always looking for a fight.

He was also a major alcoholic, which eventually cost him leading roles, and nearly his career, since he became known as being too difficult to work with. I've seen him in 3 films, and he played an unlikable, mean thug in each one. Other than nailing the tough guy role and attitude, he didn't have much charisma, and wasn't good-looking either. He always looked like he'd taken one too many punches in the face.

Tierney played Mr. Henderson, who ran the crooked gambling games on the circus midway in DeMille's THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH. The Ringling circus was known as a Sunday School show, which never carried such games, but DeMille put them there for his villain. Tierney was quite convincing and so was John Kellogg as Harry, who robbed the circus train.
