Came across your channel completely by accident. Thank you for such a close look at my neighbours. I bought a condo and live close by. I was shocked to see just how poor the neighbourhood was when I arrived and just as surprised to see how pleasant and friendly the people were too. Always smiling and never any trouble. I wonder why the local politicians cannot work harder to alleviate such poor housing.

I remember when I was in highschool I have classmate in the province shes a full scholar student. She invited us her friends in the school for her bdays celebration at wla sumipot maliban sakin. Its my first time pumasok sa gnyang lugar. Sobrang kipot, mabaho, masangsang ang amoy name it but di ako nag inarte coz I saw her kung pano xa naging happy na kahit ako lang mag isa sumama that time. Her family also sobrang accomodating like pra akong princess 😢😅 ako na nahiya that time. After we graduated we keep in touch parin actually naging besty ko xa for almost 10yrs. ☺️ Now Im really happy to see her na nagbunga lahat mga dreams nya. Nakabili na xa ng house and lot and she invited me sa bagong bahay nila. Nakakatuwa kasi sobrang pursige nya mag aral nakamit nya agad un mga pangarap nya. ☺️

In the past, Indonesia was also like this, but with the hard work of the government in each region, everyone can have a comfortable and clean residence that is livable. Likewise, people in Indonesia are starting to improve themselves and work from morning until 09 at night, everyone is working for change, to live in decent housing. Places like this are usually evicted by the government and the residents move to flats temporarily.

I used to live in Bacoor, Mambog 4, for a couple months, I never traveled into those streets... I could see that from far, but, never had the chance to go. Unlike some people might think, it does not look scary at all. It's just weird that 2 or 3 km away you can find large Malls (SM Bacoor, or Robinson etc), with luxurious items, and then see this.
Anyway, people still smiling, joyful, live day by day, not complaining much. I know on day, this will be just a memory of the past. Hope this day comes fast.

Most of this is what's called a squatter area. The houses have no permits and the people do not have title to the land. There are no building codes - why would you have those in a property that has no permission to exist? Sanitation is rudimentary and water and electric supplies basically ad-hoc. Flooding is practically weekly in rainy season and fires are common.(A few years ago a fire took out three THOUSAND dwellings in Tondo. Nobody was killed but 15000 people lost everything.) Plus, if the Gummint sells or repurposes the land, they can be evicted, though that takes a long time. (A big fire can shorten the process.) There are several such areas within a mile of where we live at the moment.
Yet Pinoys still smile. This is why I get annoyed by entitled Westerners who complain. Any Westerner with a home is living like a king compared to this. And these are the loveliest people. If you got lost in an area like that they wouldn't rob you. They'd give you some water, maybe some food and walk you out of the maze. Amazing.

People there also look out for each other. See all those kids walking and running aimlessly with other kids? They dont look hungry or miserable...the parents are secure they are just out there playing on the streets without worry they are going to be raped, killed or kidnapped. Cooking and you ran out of some ingredients? Knock on someone’s house and borrow and they will willingly lend it to you. Have nothing to eat? They would gladly share what they have. Your home getting battered by a typhoon? They will open their doors to you and give you temp shelter. Yes, that life is hard...and I bet the living conditions are atrocious...but one thing for sure, they are not sad. There is a big sense of community and camaraderie. Compare that to the U.S. where there's just paved concrete wastelands of suburbia and you only see other humans in giant depressing warehouse stores, no one talks to anyone.

I always had a dream of finding a pleasant, 40 to 50-ish widow woman (I wouldn't want a super young woman) in a place like this and bringing her to my home in Southern California. Then I would make a wonderful life with her. Of course, she would need to be ready to escape the slum, the ungrateful kids, the oppressive humidity, constant rain, and all the drunk men (I don't drink or smoke); essentially cutting all ties with her old existence to be with me. But most of the people here seem happy despite their conditions, so I don't figure that would be possible. She would probably have just as hard a time existing in my world as I would have existing in hers. Nice vid. All the best!

But now majority of informal settlers in Metro Manila are already relocated to housing projects. This one featured here is only an hectare land of slums in a remote province of Cavite. The large portion of this land was already purchased by Filinvest, a real estate developer. Other large portion of this slums near the coastal was now an intersection.
