    I like everything you have said--it is well thought out and accurate. I am Greek and visit different places in Greece every year, living in the USA. If you want to experience some beautiful landscapes and architectural diversity, I can suggest: the Pelion peninsula (Tsagarada village, Fakistra beach, ask and find out about the great hiking trails, it is the land of the Centaurs); Vikos Gorge and Zagorohoria (Vikos gorge hike, Voidomatis river rafting, villages like Papingo, Aristi); Karpenisi region (declared by UNESCO as the cleanest region in Europe, in top 5 worldwide, next to Patagonia), where you cajn visit Pantavrehi Gorge, Mikro kai Megalo Horio, Prousos monastery. Hehe, that is a good start, feel free to ask for more places. And, the places I mentioned are great for visiting in October and November. Geia Mas!

    Any tips on finding a decent deal on apartment? (Besides knowing budget, area etc.) I am fairly familiar with Athens but wanted your take on it. I tend to be comfortable with Neos Cosmos.

      We pay €387 for ours in Piraeus. Depends where and how you are looking for listings.

      @@LargeManAbroad Buying has become very expensive in Greece. People who visit Greece and or decide to live there are spreading this information on you tube for example of how great life is. The downside is, the people that have property there are selling them at high prices because international people are buying and increasing rental prices because they can make more money off tourists. This has caused big problems for Greeks in general. It has pushed them out of the housing market. I am currently trying to buy a property in Pagrati. One bedroom top floor with balcony and secured building with a lift and only 2 apartments on the top floor, very nice, all it needs is a paint job and a spruce up. I will rent it out. They want 320 I have offered 290 and it looks like it I will get it.

    • @LargeManAbroad
      @LargeManAbroad  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @bwana-ma-coo-bah425 I understand what you mean but I wouldn't blame the expats really. Foreign investors buying up buolding to convert to short term rentals, global inflation, and migration have much more impact on the prices than us. Supply and demand. Plus alot of foreigners agree to pay more than they should because they think it isn't much but it changes the average. I feel you. I'm super happy for your new purchase though. I congratulate you.

    Hey Bud, cool perspective!, I'm an Oz born Greek returning in a couple months permanently, what's the vibe with locals regarding conflict escalating in the region?, seems things are warming up, I'm not freaking out about it, just observing.
    Anyhow, how's the net speed?, is starlink likely the better option or cable is OK, I like streaming NFL and odd gaming on Madden, lol.
    Have a good one!

    • @dekenlst
      @dekenlst หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Most people don't really care about the conflicts. There's the occasional "WW3 panic" in the media but we don't really consider neither Israel nor Ukraine as our immediate neighbours, even though they're relatively close.

    • @mariolis
      @mariolis หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Many people dont care , there are some people who are very pro one side or the other , but in general the "vibe" isnt really any different from before these wars started , life goes on normally and the people arent really worried about war
      most people worry about their everyday lives, like the cost of living, you know normal , everyday stuff

    Look i'm from the Netherlands myself it's towards everyone with an EU passport, Like TP had given papers i needed a stamp for and they help you directly when you have a EU passport, If for example if people from outside the west they will have to wait weeks even months just to get that stamp. For example with DEI the electric company.
    When you show your EU passport they do not send you home to get all the document they ok with a copy on your phone, So again it's a thing here mainly when it comes to the police, The residence card for example you bring your EU passport they're will look at you what are you doing here and you get this question:
    Do you pay taxes? Yes
    You pay rent? Yes
    So why are you here? But anyways they're nice people, Most important in Greece is unlike in America they don't care on the race thing here in Europe we do not register people by race or name a person by colour like in the US, Honestly i find it rather racist when in America they say that white and black person
