Wowski!! My ears really perked up during this demo, and I’m just a mere keyboard player. I’m always a little envious of what a serious guitarist and a Box like this can do. Love your playing style! 👏👏 wonderful demo here
I´m using the HOG2 since years and I love it. The POG3 seams to be a modern update of it, very interesting and in stereo! But what´s missing: the freeze effects. Anyway, EHX is making great inspiring stuff.
Yay second comment. Just wanted to say you're the chillest youtuber out here and your vibe as a person perfectly matches the nice chill music you make. Much love from a fan in India
damn that thing is da real deal, almost a synth of its own. their just one fader away from being one. needs a hertz fader to mix in any tone of your choice
$650!!! Wow, I’m going to need to find 649 more reasons to shell out for this one. I am sure some will get a lot out of it. Credit to EHX for doing creative stuff.
Great video, but No way am I paying that much! For that price I could buy a whammy dt for the octave shifting (and frankly I think it sounds better) and an earthquake data corrupter for the weird shit. And possibly still have enough left over for a cheap third pedal. Sorry exh. I love you but not that much
Just ordered mine, and it's replacing my pog2. The midi and multiple presets are what sold me with this pedal. Hope they do the same with the ravish and superego.
I have to be practical: this thing sounds great, and seems to be the pinnacle of POGs, however, my rig is not stereo. I feel one of the other (3? 4?) POG pedals may be more appropriate. Looking forward to hearing you compose some music with this.
I just picked one of these up and so glad for this review! Yes, I think the stereo is a great feature, but you can run mono, but it doesn't normalize (L/MONO) so you need to pan the voices accordingly to one channel. The navigation is slick and tracking seems great too. I just need yet to test out the 'warp' pitch effects function more specifically for my use-case.
One thing you don't mention is how you route this all through your mixer. I would setup two path ways, two pedal boards. It must be recorded in quad stereo. I already record in Quad. Tell me about your live recordings? Have any live Performances, you play IN front of an audiences?
Boss' OC-5 allows you to cutoff the octave effect at a specific frequency so you can essentially isolate the low E and A (and part of the D) strings to add a bass line without impacting the higher notes. Can the POG do this? If not......what a major missed opportunity as this is how most folks I know in the jazz world use an octave pedal.
I don’t think POG can do the “lowest” feature like the OC-5. There’s also a ton of huge features of the POG that the OC-5 can’t come close to doing - freeze, attack/decay, expression controlled filter sweeps, whammy mode, harmonized 5ths
@@somethingvelvet I agree the the 'Synth' features are cool. But the simplicity of just being able simulate a bass on the lower strings is a no-brainer and should have easily been part of the POG3. I use a Boss SY_1000 synth for the effects stuff but I map the 2 bass strings down an octave. Thanks for your reply though.
I've tried to make a Helix sound like a POG2, and it's *kinda* close, but not really, lots of artifacts. Meanwhile, here's EHX just dropping the POG3 and making everything so much better.
None of the octave pedals I have used, seen Don’t give you enough highs, + , they only go 2 or 3 high + ,does any pedal let you program higher highs on the plus side higher octaves Thank You
I’m a fairly good keyboard player, amateur guitarist This looks VERY exciting, as a someone who has played many church organs, trying out pipes of various octaves etc On my Behringer PolyD or Rhodes sound on my Korg SV2 or on my old Korg Poly800 that’s a year older than me (!) I bet this could a lot of fun Or even on my guitar (despite my lack of guitar skill) thru my Plethora X5 the sounds you get from 9:25 sound outrageous 😂
Great pedal but one many might not have a solid use for....also its a bit out of financial reach for the average non-professional ...unless you have a relationship with a retailer or manufacturer to demo equipment in exchange for that particular item...its just not an affordable piece of gear in my opinion...however fun, unique.
You will need to experiment with your pedalboard to see what works best, but I would start by placing it somewhere towards the beginning. Definitely before chorus, delays and reverbs.
Essentially a 'Bontempi' pedal; bringing you the sound of a shity keyboard from your beautiful guitar :) I jest - I'm sure it has its place. I quite liked the octave down stuff. But in a typical mix it is a bit much and is going to fill up those frequency bands. Solambient though, I guess with an El Capistan and Blue Sky it could make a huge racket :)
Tbh to me it seems this is borderline edging to be a synth type of pedal and not an octaver. I have my OC-5 in my SY-200 Fx loop.. and I think that could cover a lot more of my needs. It is a feature packed pedal, I just don't need the other features. Freaking cool color though!
It definitely has that sample/hold feature, unfortunately Bill didn’t demo it here, I’m planning to use it like a Superego, the tracking and routing options seem to be a incredible for that use case
It gets close, it definitely replaces the Attack control with a much more capable and better tracking one as well as the EHX Freeze and it has glissando but if you mostly use the auto-freeze on Superego+ it doesnt seem to work on POG3, it just does a live glissando effect with no freeze If you’re more into manual freezing that now must be done with an expression pedal which imo is a bit more awkward. There’s no decay control either, and less effects with only tbe POG stuff, a filter, and detune - though all of them are great and quite appropriate combo for synth-y tones. No other FX loop but you can at least use all the built in ones at the same time
The POG II already has most of these functions but it’s less easy to use. And then: it looks like a garage made pedal where they used leftover material. While this one looks yummy…
ITS A SCAM !!! These presets on the EHX channel dont come with the POD3 even that they say 100 presets onboard. ONLY 10! I PAID TOP DOLARS! AND 10 PRESETS
The same old boring Ehx octave pedal in a new form factor. It's so modern that this pedal can't do the same Boss Oc-5 selective octave fx like adding a bass octave only to the lowest root note that is playing. This Ehx honestly is completely crap.
Thank you, Bill 🙏🙏🙏
Wow, EHX made their most modern, Boss looking pedal.
I already threw my old one out. Did you see the shine on the chasis and digital lights?
I love my string9 from EHX
Was hoping for a good review on the POG 3, and here it is by the best pedal reviewer on the TH-cam. NICE!
It's truly useful to have a talented ambient player review such an amazing piece of technology like this. Thank you!!!
Sir, you NEVER miss. Thank you for the awesome content.
Beautifully formatted video. Thank you!
I've heard a few demos, yours was the first to help me really understand it's workflow and potential.
Perfect for noodling along with The Clangers theme tune 😊
Wow. Instantly into a universe similar to Alan Holdsworth - but through a dramatic worm-hole!
So glad you're doing this demo. Thanks
3 pawgs sounds great!
The tracking sounds great on this.
Had an original POG back in 2008 and miss it sometimes. This new one still gets that great organ sound and the filter envelope is a neat addition.
I have an original also. It's not going anywhere!
Wowski!! My ears really perked up during this demo, and I’m just a mere keyboard player. I’m always a little envious of what a serious guitarist and a Box like this can do. Love your playing style! 👏👏 wonderful demo here
Sir, you are a remarkable sonic sculptor!

Second that!
That Pog3 unit looks absolutely beautiful!! I have the Pog2 but now I gots to have the Pog3! Ima sick(smart) man! 😝 Great video Thank you.
Just got a new Pog3, haven't played with it, but looking forward to it
Really cool demo, Bill!! ✌️😌🎸

Wow! 😮 I really wanted this......until I saw the price 🙁
Should be no more than $350.
Yeah, that's just nuts.
just wait till the holidays, someone is bound to have a 20% off code for all or most purchases.
Great video, but No way am I paying that much! Love your playing dude, some wicked vibes 🫶✨
Just ordered mine, and it's replacing my pog2. The midi and multiple presets are what sold me with this pedal.
Hope they do the same with the ravish and superego.
I'm getting strong Fairport Convention vibes from all those parallel octaves and fifths. Awesome pedal and nice demo.
If I get an EQD Spatial Delivery to add to my Pitch Bay... it won't even come close to that wonderful sound!
Been lusting for this one but both size and price are putting it on the back burner. 🙁
With this pedal Trout Mask Replica was actually possible 😂

getting into Let the Power Fall territory with the Cosmos. Tasty.
It sounds very good! I’ve waited for a pog3. The blinking would be very annoying. I hope it can be switched off.
One thing you don't mention is how you route this all through your mixer. I would setup two path ways, two pedal boards. It must be recorded in quad stereo. I already record in Quad. Tell me about your live recordings? Have any live Performances, you play IN front of an audiences?
How would you setup live ambient quad? A pedal board with Jimi style effects and another one for ambient Style effects?
My dream, my wallet's nightmare. Great demo, Bill!
Nice! I have the Eventide Space; with my Epi and/or my Moog.
WOW! I've never been more inspired to sell some of my lesser-used pedals (just to be able to afford this one!).

Cool similar to digitech whammy in placement then. Cheers dude.
I have one on order, I’m looking forward to the sample/hold feature - I hope I can stop a lot of those flashing lights 😅
The onion knight still at it.

i know it's a stupid question but how does it compare with the onward? Cause both can cop synth sustainy sounds

Has me looking at the earlier POGs for a less expensive alternative.
Could you please do demo on automatic freeze of this pedal?
Thank you
Would like to be able to raise the upper octaves up a step or two….

WHERE IS BEST TO PUT IT IN AN EFFECTS LOOP ON A PWDALBOARD?
You will need to experiment with your pedalboard to see what works best, but I would start by placing it somewhere towards the beginning. Definitely before chorus, delays and reverbs.

Actually I have found it to sound fantastic with subtlety, but it does beg to be used as a compliment to a rig in my opinion.
I agree. The pedal sounds utterly digital and outdated. Its crazy something so cheap sounding is so expensive.
PLS more content on this pedal.
My only issue with this pedal is that it is ridiculously big. I wonder how large the pcb that's inside really is.
This is smaller than I thought
Tbh to me it seems this is borderline edging to be a synth type of pedal and not an octaver.

Mental price. Axe fx3 looks like a bargain in 2024
could this replace the superego+?

Yes indeed!

You could let your guitar sound like an organ...Wow
Noodles Mcgee😅
It's great if you can afford it.
We have to be careful. If EHX keeps making more pitch shfting pedals, Digitech might release a new variation of Whammy....again.
I wish they would just go back to the whammy 2 format
I like the idea i dont like the sound. Sounds too artificial to me
ITS A SCAM !!! These presets on the EHX channel dont come with the POD3 even that they say 100 presets onboard.
ONLY 10!
I PAID TOP DOLARS! AND 10 PRESETS
I have the POG 2, a great pedal except I inevitably end up twiddling and exploring the sounds it can produce rather than any useful music.
Mmm $650???
looooooool🤣
Meris fuckin hedra rulez (but terrible interface)
But Hedra is mono, you can’t play chords or you get horrible artifacts and dissonant tones
@billmorgan7287 its stereo but true, its not polyphonic. And its user interface sucks soooo hsrd, its such a pain, i am considerong selling it
perfect presentation, unfortunately sound is so chemical ....
I think you meant to say artificial.

a lot of hooplah and bling
just for the same guitorgan and turn-any-fuzz-into-octavefuzz hack
