So glad you are back. I can commiserate about stealth camping in LA. Last month I spent one night in my van on a street in Venice, a few blocks from the beach. I was parked with lots of other vans, some of which looked as if they hadn't moved in weeks, even for street cleaning. I slept ok, despite hearing a woman screaming in the middle of the night. I moved on the next day. Big city wild camping is not for the faint of heart. Thank heaven for iOverlander! There's an excellent place to park in a housing development at the top of Magic Mountain Parkway in Valencia, if you can believe it. I found it purely by accident. Welcome back, I missed you while you were gone.
I visited there back in January and there is a lot of difficulty finding anywhere to car/van camp...I ended up going 1 hour north to a truck/gas station...which put me only 3hrs from San Fran...so I decided to go ahead and go! lol...always wanted to go there! It's even WORSE there! I found ONE truck/gas station 10 miles south of San Fran and it was sooooo bad! Luckily, it all turned out ok as far as that went! Glad to see you again and yes...glad you moved!
The relief I felt when you moved to another place to sleep was palpable. You explained what you were thinking. :) Anyway, welcome back! Now, if I may be so bold to suggest ... go NORTH (Cali and Oregon), and go see some amazing, record-snow-melt waterfalls to cleanse your soul from the Icky City.

If I was living in a van... And I had an income where I wasn't tied to one location I'd be traveling and going to the cities I always was interested in. I did live in a van and traveled for 6 months in 2020-2021. I traveled and met different friends I had from social media. Sometimes I boondocked it. Sometimes I stayed with my friends and other times I stayed in hotels. A couple of times I rented a small cabin for a couple of days. I loved the van life but it was tooooo expensive. And during the time I was doing it. I was getting unemployment.
Oh my goodness I lived in Long Beach years ago and Sacramento California and I have no ambition. on going back at all. To California I Can’t believe you trying to stay on Sunset Boulevard.😂😂😂😂😂😂 well if you ever want to come up to North Michigan, we’re having some excellent beautiful weather just drop me a text and you have a place to park your van. Very very safe. and the next two weeks I plan on doing a lot of more camping. I’m building my garage right now so I’ve been busy for the past month anyway be safe. Ok 👌🏼🔥🤠🔥Camping Russ out
Van life videos are back everyone nice!! I would be way too paranoid to try to stealth camp in Hollywood. I will be up all night peeping out the windows, making sure everything was OK lol. You did the right thing to get the hell out of there. Always listen to your gut.

I was flown out and put in a 5 star hotel with a daily allowance while I spent 3 days on sets for commercial and ad print work😊 Never been as a van lifer, I've heard the terrible tales! Wow!!! I remember my time there. After I got kicked out of the last hostel I ended up going to the city department where you get food stamps. I would ride the bus to various dollar stores & but the right amount of food to maximize the cash change I got until I saved up enough to get the next week’s bus pass as well as enough to buy food at all the open mics because a lot of them required that. 😂
So glad you’re back! At least you tried it out but glad you trusted your gut and moved to a better spot. I remember trying to stealth in LA summer 2021 and it was so annoying. I slept in my SUV in Venice for one night and it was a big hell no for me. Stayed in the LA area for 3 weeks and most nights were spent at the Planet Fitness in not such a great part of LA but safe enough. I totally prefer public land and the suburbs over the city cuz no…I prefer the secluded areas and being able to spread out, that’s the whole point of this lifestyle! Glad you tried to make the most of it for the video though 🤙🏽 can’t wait til your next adventure
Hi Alyssa! I love L.A. I am from the Valley (Sunland). But I would never have the guts to try to sleep where you did! I am glad you moved. I agree with the person who said, go north. I left my brother's place (L.A. area) in my RV in April 2021 and headed up the 101 which I have done too many times to count because I had siblings in LA and parents in the San Luis Obispo area and a grandma, aunts, uncles and cousins in the Bay Area But then I kept going North and I loved Klamath, California and the Oregon Coast (I went back last Summer). I know you've been that way before, huh? So beautiful!. I am glad you are back and safe and I always love your videos- awesome music! 🌹Red

And my daughter and I went into NYC to see "Wicked"! I'm going to Portugal in July!!! And back to Philly for the birth of my 2nd grandbaby in September! The best place to relax is at the Venice beach parking lots during the day , then stay at the dog park parking lots near Venice they’re in the nice areas no ppl walking around at night .

That is funny. My wife went to massage school right off Hollywood for 4 months. Not clean, safe or mentally stable people. She move back home in August of 22. Looked like they were moving homeless people somewhere. They clean streets once a week. N Wilton place was Wednesday on one side and the other on Thursday. Really good Thai food and decent pizza. Super surprised about the pizza. "Best F*(kin Pizza", just west of the 101 I think.
On Subset?! Glad you moved. And yuuup, human poos everywhere. I used to live on Melrose x Western and the back alley was the city’s toilet. 24/7 sounds with terrifying car accidents outside my window. Moved to Highland Park after a few years.

Yes I lived in the Hollywood Hills in the 1970s and 80s and worked as a commercial photographer for ABC Entertainment, Playboy, and a number of Record Companies, and Magazines. I also started working in South East Asia in the late 70s, where I am right now. I have been back in the US a number of times , which is why I started following your channel. It can be hard to live on two or three continents at the same time. But it can also be rewarding.
