    Diana Ross was the first actress to be considered for The Color Purple. In fact, Whoopi Goldberg was a bit intimidated by the buzz around Diana Ross. There was never a proven fact that Miss Ross was offered the role as Miss Celie or weather she turned the role down. Roger Moore wanted Diana Ross for James Bond however, the studio head did not want to cast a black actress at the time. Later, Halle Berry got the role. There was talk that Diana Ross would reprise the role of Sabrina an Audrey Hepburn film which never happened. Than The bodyguard with 1st Steve McQueen, 2nd Ryan O’Neil. Berry Gordy wound not let her go. On one ✋🏽 I believe he was protecting her image and on the other hand 🖐🏽 holding her back. Diana Ross career as an actress could and should have been as successful as her singing career, if not more successful. Lady Sings the Blues was not a fluke.

    • @karlminor3424
      @karlminor3424 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have always been conflicted back in the day about this Colour Purple thing. Please that was not for her. Casting her in a James Bond film------- No!!!!! Even an Audrey Hepburn remake----- No!!!!! Berry knew she was better than all that!!!!

      @@karlminor3424 wrong. And she was considered for the color purple and SHOULD have done that. BG had nothing to do with her not taking that role because she was not even signed to Motown at that time.
      Yes she was to be a Bond girl but for the director’s preferences.. and she should have been given that role too… lastly the Bodyguard she should’ve done because as the original post says Lady was NOT A FLUKE. Unfortunately her once promising acting career did NOT flourish as we all would’ve hoped

      You are a liar! Whitney never wanted to be like Diana and even said that to Barbara Walters in 1993. She never cited Diana as a musical influence because she never was! Cissy Houston was Whitney’s inspiration and you could see it all in her stage presence. Whitney mirrored the stage presence of her mother Cissy. Whitney knew that she could sing circles around Diana and that’s why Diana was intimidated by Whitney when she came sweeping through the industry like a Hurricane. If anyone’s ego was bigger than their actual talent it was Diana. Whitney didn’t have to sleep her way to the top, her voice alone elevated her to a level of superstardom that Diana was NEVER capable of achieving as a solo artist. Whitney’s first album outsold Diana’s entire solo discography! I don’t see anyone in talent shows like X Factor or American Idol singing Diana Ross songs because Diana never had that type of impact on singers. The truth hurts.

    Precious one, no matter the circumstances, ALWAYS find joy in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In the Holy Bible, Habakkuk wasn’t experiencing easy circumstances. As a prophet, God had shown him coming days when none of the crops or livestock-on which God’s people depended-would be fruitful (3 : 17). It would take more than mere optimism to endure the coming hardships. As a people group, Israel would be in extreme poverty. Habakkuk experienced heart-pounding, lip-quivering, leg-trembling fear (v. 16).
    Yet despite that, Habakkuk said he would “rejoice in the Lord” and “be joyful” (v. 18). He proclaimed His hope in the God who provides the strength to walk in difficult places (v. 19).
    Sometimes we go through seasons of deep pain and hardship. But no matter what we’ve lost, or wanted but never had, we can, like Habakkuk, rejoice in our relationship with a loving God. Even when it feels like we have nothing else, He will never fail or abandon us (Hebrews 13:5). He, the One who “provide[s] for those who grieve,” is our ultimate reason for joy (Isaiah 61:3). What is it about your relationship with Jesus brings you the greatest joy? How has He met you recently in a time of hardship or grief?
    Dear friend, grow deeper in your relationship with our Creator THIS VERY MOMENT by first acknowledging that you are a sinner in need of our Savior. Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and Savior of your life. Welcome Abba Yahweh (Father God) through Yeshua (Jesus the Christ) into your life. Receive grace by believing in Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross, His death, burial and resurrection for the sins of all mankind. You will then be justified in salvation and forever blessed with His abundant love by the Holy Spirit!
    May God bless you in the Glorious name of Jesus Christ our Lord and our Savior.❤️❤️❤️

      SassyBratt1 you really need to go somewhere over somebody's rainbow and get a life .Even Florence Ballard said she would rather deal with Diana Ross because Diana is real what you see is what you get from Diana , & that Diana is no fake she will tell you what the deal is in front of you she does not sneak, & you must not know or you conveniently forget all the girls had a chance to sing lead & they each kept getting a chance to sing lead . And it was the girls who said whoever it is that hits let them lead but they still kept the others trying to hit & finally Berry said you cannot fix what's not broken and the public hot on Diana and hit and you keep hitting while the fire is hot because you don't know how long it's going to stay that way so he (GordyBerry ) is the one who put Diana out front this is pure business & not romance that called the shot , because romance don't pay no bills , but good business does , and long as you're gonna blame know who to blame . Berry said he tried to get the girls to go into the studio to lay down tracks for a new song right after just finishing a live concert Florence, & Mary would tell Berry hollar at me another day I'm tired I'm not doing anything ,& here's where they separates Diana would continue to work Berry said he knew the girls where tired & who could blame them but it was Diana Ross who went right into the studio right after just finishing a live concert Diana would go in a lay down the new tracks for the new song & Berry would have to wait for the other girls to get untired so they could lay their tracks down & only then could he begin to promote their new song.. Berry said this happened all the time and he said the other Supremes are not as ambitious as you've shown time and again. And if you wanna go solo that can be done because Berry said it's not fair for you to be held back, and they are going at one pace yet you are moving at another , I'll make you a solo star that way they won't have to feel like someone's pushing them harder than they wanna go , & you then can move at the pace that's good or you are able to withstand that way everyone will be happy. Marvin Gay has said there's two things about Diana you can forget about it because she's got those & that is she will out rehearse you ,& out dress you. Marvin said he used to get jealous because Diana would have Berry's attention but the truth is Berry gave Diana nothing she did not deserve . Marvin said Diana deserved all the accolades she gets because she worked her ass off to get it . Marvin said nobody gave Diana shit, she Diana did it the old fashioned way she wotked for it ,she got her ass out there and she proved herself to to the consummate star that she obviously is, was and will always be. You cannot make a person a star that quality is innate it's either you are or you are not . Now someone can help you hone those innate abilities given you from birth & someone who has been given the abilities and their platform to expose you to the public is all a person can really do or not do a singer is born that way and actor is actor bethey are born that way an entertainer is an entertainer because they are born that way the only need was be given an opportunity to be seen by the public that all that it . The magnetism followed the one that was exuding it and the public followed right along with it it's nobody's fault, it just was , it just is, and just will be . And Diana gave Florence 's daughters ,monies towards their college education ,and the daughters just recently said that money is spent up and they have no gripes with Diana Ross , if anybody should or would have any gripes it would be Florence's daughters. And they said they have no gripes so I ask you what are you doing with some gripes as if Diana did you wrong ? Get the truth and stop listening to all that cock,& bull you just maybe misaligning an innocent individual namely Diana Ross to do such evil thinking you are right when actually you didn't don't have all the fact is a bad , very bad position to be in, I'm just sayin !
