    yes on the center windshield piece. i think it should have a curve and maybe some other details in it, or wider.

      The Fab Forums your right I saw the curve from left to right, but the fox body windshield doesn’t have a curve top to bottom. Maybe you could do a split window in the front and incorporate that into the middle frame.

    I agree, negative on the brace.. in the beginning I didn’t like the Bibster but now I’m seeing your vision as the sheet metal comes to fruition even if it’s not totally my cup of tea. You build your dream and everyone else can build theirs and we’ll enjoy the fab along the way.

    I don’t know it takes forever if you are a true builder and do your own work. Anyone can just buy a car. I have been building a 1969 Pro-street Dodge Dart 340 Swinger for 3 years already. It was a 5 year goal. Gonna be a close. Building your own cage, tubs and everything is so time consuming. Then you watch videos like Kyles, think of a different plan, cut the stuff out you did to change it to something else. Never ends...

  • @TheBinfordMan

    Taper the width of the brace top to bottom (similar to the deck lid sides you made...) say 1" at the top to 3" at the base. And then press in graduated diameter holes.
    You get a streamlined industrial look but without the overpowering mass of a rectangle with identical holes. . . kind of subtly tying the back to the front; the deck lid to the cowl.
    Love your work!

    Windshield brace as a very thin box section with the dimples in the sides. Bottom part of the dimples meeting up in the middle. Also some curvature running from top to bottom. Similar to the side sections you did for the trunk.

    This Bibbster is your Masterpiece, no time constraints of any kind. The Quality is evidence in your process. As to the "brace", let it grow on ya after you sit in it n maybe move it around to visualize it's affect. Either way that is a Killer Ride to be Proud of...not to mention how you have got your shop set up with all the right "equipment" to Fab with.
    I know it is a lot of work to create these Great Videos for your Fans...We Thank Ya......:)

    Great work on the back! I love the way it is going. I am torn on the brace. It may need a little shape to fit in. But in the end it is your car and your vision. Work takes time if you do it right. And if you do it right the first time then you will not have to go back and re do it. Take your time and make your car the way you want. And I will be here enjoying your content!

    I like the fact that you are a builder. and the concept. I saw a car concept build like yours all done, and that guy been at it for 12 years. mind you he even as to make the bolts. but imagine a car that looks like it has no lights. and then the break lights shine true the body itself. but when I asked him how long he worked at the lights. it was months....

    A vertical "I" beam windshield divider tapering to the top would be less intrusive to the inside & outside eyes plus it could transition into the roof & dash panels with a cleaner look or maybe a shallow double sided "V" shape with dimpled holes. You've done a lot of nice fab work there Mate! I"m envious of your dream shop with dream space full of dream tools. I have a 30ft shop where I'm building a 40ft long streamliner to take a shot at 500mph plus I live in here as well. One-off cars take a lot of time & even more so for the lone ranger's, I have over 26k hours in mine.

  • @ShowMeThePony
    @ShowMeThePony 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you had cab tie ins on the sides between the cage and the A-pillars with dimples then the center could look ok. But I think you tucked the cage in too tight to the A-pillars? What about adding off road truck style tubes in a V shape in the middle of the window tying the top “halo” of the cage to the dash bar? It would mimick the V shapes going on in the rear?

  • @carlwier5713
    @carlwier5713 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    A little curve would be nice in the brace. If you decide not to use it, maybe a stealthy visor with dimples would hit the spot keeping the hot rod look. It'd be a bit tricky with the contour of the windshield. Just a thought. Killing it bro. Sick machine.

    I think the windshield brace need a little curve to it... also the rear in my opinion needs more arch. Make it look kinda like a 30s style hot rod trunk or like the rumble backs... but looks good awesome work. Been watching a long time and the bibster looks cooler everytime you mess with it

    I built a low custom street rod (frame, suspension and body) and after having it on the road a few years I'm glad I didn't put a center post in my windshield...I have a hard time as it is seeing out the low windshield. May I suggest instead of the center bar you do that same type of punched panel along the top or bottom or side of the windshield to make the windshield smaller and meaner looking? I used Poly Carbonate for my windshield so the windshield size/shape didn't matter.

  • @DodgyBrothersEngineering
    @DodgyBrothersEngineering 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I like what you've done on the rear, and it was definitely the right decision to lift it up at the front, but I'd like to see the exact same idea but lifted up to meet the back window section crease line (or higher). To me it looks like it is too flat, like the front needs to come up and maybe lose a few inches out the bottom to get a fuller curve.

    • @kermitbearden7142
      @kermitbearden7142 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, the "trunk lid" needs to come up to meet the rear window panel. While he was viewing the rear from the side I noticed how the tire didn't flow with the curve of the deck, it needs to be set at ride height to check how thinks flow but he has already done that.

    • @kermitbearden7142

    • @DodgyBrothersEngineering
      @DodgyBrothersEngineering 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kermitbearden7142 I noticed the same thing when looking at the angle from the back, it just looked very flat, like it needed to be higher and more full to work in with the tyres. Was thinking how to achieve that and I think it would need a couple of things... Lift the front as much as possible (without looking weird), lower the back section as much as possible (maybe remove the gap in the license plate area) and thirdly try pull the rear bumper area in a bit. Between those three it would definitely be less flat looking. Maybe even put some more curve in the bars.

  • @dgbracing
    @dgbracing 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think if you were to widen the bottom of the brace so that the edges follow the taper of the windscreen from the front. Also put a slight peak to it to follow the curve of the glass, with the holes getting smaller as if goes up, it would look better. Whether it needs it, I don’t think it does, unless you follow a heavier aviation theme, else where.

  • @416cubes4
    @416cubes4 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think that brace would look dope. Imo no dimples. Maybe slight break or roll down middle? Maybe a gentle radius out; 3-4” down from top on each side giving a more smooth “eyebrow” type look for each side of support or each “viewing area” think it could add to the aggressive look. Kind of like evil eyes? Looking good brother.

    The holes you called "punch and flare" or "tap and die" are called "lightening holes" I was an aircraft mechanic in the navy, and those flared holes are put in the metal to reduce weight in wing ribs and braces, while maintaining structural rigidity. "Lightening" as in less weight, not the big bolts that zap you when it's raining lol

  • @WireWeHere

    On the windshield brace, it definitely would need to flow with the curvey design you have chosen. Option, make a 2 piece windshield with the brace centered and the top radiused to match the outside edges, sort of aircraft style. Make the dimples functional vents. Were you planning on a 3rd led brake light in the space between the back window and the deck lid?
    I'm enjoying your build. Keep rocking!!!

    You probably have figured out how you want the whole rear end, but I have an idea I'd like you to know of:
    Make the rear trunk piece to cover the whole space between the rear wheels, but cut out a "window" around the rear suspension on either side. These windows can then be filled with either another steel panel, or a piece of perforated steel plate to show of the coilover subtly, made to the same contour as the trunk piece, but attached to the rear suspension so that when it's lowered the pieces lift up through the panel along with the coilovers.
    Anyways, I absolutely love the build, take your time, and make it perfect!

    The process is the most interesting part. Really enjoy the videos thanks for putting in time.

    The rear trunk area came out great, Do you plan on doing a little bead rolling on the lid? Maybe have the lower part look similar to the rear window maybe a bit more of a subtle. Also did you make the adapter for your dimple dies to the hydraulic ram or does someone sell them?

    Put a slight arc in the windshield brace. Then see. Cause the glass isnt straight. And tell them what I say at work, it gets done when its done. I hope one day you could bring it to autorama in Detroit

    It probably would look good if you had the front window A- pillars with the same thing. So the center doesn't look out of place and brings the design more eye satisfying as it will match other competed parts with the same dimples.

    I’m my humble opinion I will have a brace in the middle of the windshield just not as wide and agree with the other’s that it would look better with a little curve. Maybe look into making it in a “T” shape. I believe it would not stick out that much. In other words it won’t stand out so much.
    Look at the curve or arc of the A pillars and use the same form.

    Love the rear end progress and shape, and even though the punched out windshield brace may not work, I like the idea of some vertical element in that location. Maybe a small tube or rod with the mirror (shaped like the back window)?

    Nice thinking on the arc.

    The windshield brace is going to look perfect with matching A-pillar braces and matching cage to B-pillar braces.

    The shape needs some contour for the center brace just to flat looking. Killer job on the rear portion of the car.. Keep up the great work.

    You aughtta consider some acoustic treatment for your shop. See you stepped it up, pimp dude. Good vid. But can’t help but notice the echo in your shop and how there’s perfect little corbel like angle braces from the wall to ceiling that would be perfect to mount some acoustic panels to knock down that echo !

    It might be neat with the center brace being a bit thinner with smaller dimple holes and make it a two part windshield. Sort of like how a '51 Chevy 3100 has.

    Have you started it yet? I dont remember from past videos if you have ran the motor yet? I love the fact that your going with hydraulics instead of air. Iv been into lowriders my whole life. I'm from a small town in east central indiana and I had the only cars and trucks with juice on them! I love the looks I get when I'm stopped at a light and dump it to the street! An older couple saw me do that and he said son your truck fell down! I just bumped it back up and laughed!! Love this build! Thanks for sharing this!
