I have one customer I do AC work for (he is a mobile mechanic) I have a robinair AC machine from the 2000s I repaired and I pro rate it for him and diag basic issues if I see any and send it away if its messed up cash only and if its still got a issue from his work that is his problem as the warranty he gets is of the taillight variety unless he has me do the compressor and or other components.

Sometime explaining why will makes a lot difference...rather than saying thats the procedure..
But honestly.. most people who owns a car.. really cant afford proper maintanance / proper repairs.. neither a new car.

Similar reason why I refuse to do brake jobs if I’m not replacing everything (rotors, calipers, pads, bleed and flush). A lot of customers just want a pad swap. I tell them to do it themselves or go somewhere else.
