This man DESERVES to be recognized more than he is
And He Is!!❣️♥️👍
He is
Imagine you see him at a quaint coffee shop, and just casually tell him thank you your music means so much and walk away. I think he'd appreciate that
I could swore I saw him at Wally World once .. did a dbl take the guy was wearing clothes he'd probably wear .. who the he** is Wally ? I was straighton too .. I live in a area where celebrities are known to visit/live .. do do do do do .. twilight zone ..whoever it was he was really polite .. kind of fit the profile i always read how nice he is to everyone ..I also think I saw Vincent Price once at a Safeway in my hometown when i was a kid he was tall and had that sinister quality to him .. ill never forget how he looked at me it kinda scared the crap out of me I'd seen alot of Vincent Prices movies , Gregory Peck was known to live in a small community up in the hills east of my home town according to historical records he had a home there. La Jolla playhouse was where he performed before becoming famous .. you never know .. kinda messes with the mind... like wtf ?? .. 😮 I would of passed out if it actually him ..PM ..❤😊❤
😎
Probably one of the most beautiful melancholic songs I've ever heard.
Also check out Silent Lucidity from Queensryche.
Melancholic...a form of melancholy. Yep. That's the mood.
@@MaryBrookegood song
@@MaryBrooke Silent Lucidity is a song that sounds like a bunch of polished musicians trying to soud deep.
That voice....takes me back to so many distant memories...Bauhaus, Joy Division, Xymox, Cocteau Twins, and who could forget Robert Smith, my namesake :).... Where has time gone?
💖...yes, where time has gone....love 80'💖
Time goes nowhere. We only experience it in a linear fashion which traps us in a great illusion.
As tears go by... You won't disappear in the rear window 😉
My older sis was heavy into the goth scene in the 90’s and those were her bands.
The Voice that I would recognize Anywhere, Instantly. Love this guy!
My God I never knew music like this was possible! Such a dark and gloomy masterpiece!
It's not gloomy at all, he's doing a brief life review amidst contemplating future actions for himself and family. That's all.
It’s a sad song. I was removed to tears listening to this song as I looked out at my cat’s grave in the back yard. I had to put him down in June. God I miss him. I am heartbroken
Where were you in the 80s? 😂
There is the grace of late birth but everything good also has disadvantages. so keep searching for lost treasures from the past. Try Butterfly from AHA... greetings from Germany🙂 and... sad Lisa from Cat Stevens^^
Older generation played instruments and had soul. Just middle class kids get that nowadays. So it sucks. It's rebellious to even try and teach them. A funny little man from the government turns up
I can play this song over and over and over for hours and not tire of it. Thumbs up if you agree/can relate.
thats how I am with all of Peter's music.....I literally listen to him for hours!!! He moves my soul.....and I always long for more
Yo también!!!! Me too!!!
I know what you mean sweetheart.
You have to love Pete`s voice.I have been listening to it for over 30 years!
I have been learning this on guitar. Been excellent therapy. One of my favorite all time songs.
Absolutely right. This song it's full of pure beauty
A strange kind of love
A strange kind of feeling
Swims through your eyes
And like the doors
To a wide vast dominion
They open to your prize
This is no terror ground
Or place for the rage
No broken hearts, white wash lies
Just a taste for the truth
Perfect taste, choice and meaning
A look into your eyes
Blind to the gemstone alone
A smile from a frown circles round
Should he stay or should he go?
Let him shout a rage so strong
A rage that knows no right or wrong
And take a little piece of you
There is no middle ground
Or that's how it seems
For us to walk or to take
Instead we tumble down
Either side, left or right
To love or to hate
I just discovered Peter Murphy, his music is haunting and amazing!
consider yoursef lucky, I know him thanks to my dad's good taste in music. His voice feels so unique and his music so powerful
Well damn, it's about time! 💜 He is a musical genius.
You're in for a treat. Enjoy.
Yes, it is. Listen to Bauhaus also. They are great. I send you my best regards.
Me also. Such a haunting voice
One of the most beautiful songs ever written.
Indeed
💯%👍💥💥💥
His music is pure dark beauty.
Dark and mysterious
Carl Hagen that too. I don't like a lot of goth artists or bands because I found most of them out there depressing.
But not Peter. I was meant to love the dudes music. I love his poetry. It's so beautiful. Can you find gothic artist and bands like his and recommend them for me.
I really don't like The Cure and Joy Division except for Friday I'm In Love and I like a few Joy Division songs.
@@stevenmorris2234 WHY?????
I am addicted to him,why
I have to agree with you. I can't stand this allround darkness of most gothic bands but there are some i can recommend for you.
1) DEAD CAN DANCE:
idk if you like Peter's DUST album, but Dead Can Dance makes music like that. The two singers of this band have very great voices, especially the woman, Lisa Gerrard, who wrote the soundtrack for gladiator and is the only woman so far that has won a golden globe award. She almost ever sings in an onwn invented, sometimes latin or arabic-sounding language, and has a voice that i would put in the same class like Whitney Houston. But Lisa is like a cooler, more mystical version of Whitney. In their first albums, she has a really high voice like kate Bush (who is also a great artist i can recommend for you, but veeeery strange: check out Wuthering Heights, Violin, Babooshka, The Wedding List, Kite, The Sensual World, The Dreaming, Hammer Horror, James and the Cold Gun...)but then her voice grew larger, and she also began to sang in almost resonating deep lows. so cool, i love it. the other part, the singer Brendan Perry (btw, He and Peter really can't stand each other: www.slicingupeyeballs.com/2010/05/05/peter-murphy-brendan-perry-tour-bauhaus-dead-can-dance/) has a very great voice too. i would compare it to a alternative-goth version of Jim Morrison. He usually sings in english, often mystical and by greek myths influenced poetic texts, but sometimes he sings like lisa in an own invented language. Yes, they have some very dark tunes, like Joy Division, but also some really happy:
th-cam.com/video/sJqUbb-WuPQ/w-d-xo.html (really cool album, listen at least to the first two tracks, then you know what i mean with her language and her low singing, and you can hear a more rocky song by brendan, but the rest of the album ist also great, especially the 4th, 8th and the last track) A bit like Peter's Dust
Anyone who thinks he knows good goth music should know this album. it is veerry dark, but cool, idk if you will like this. the title stands for itself: Within the realm of a dying sun. th-cam.com/video/Pl0vOhdCByA/w-d-xo.html
Again a Dust-like Album: th-cam.com/video/-AAkq2Vm5wQ/w-d-xo.html (Its the last album before they parted in 1998, but they've made a reunion in 2011.)
A bit irish-celtic medieval. the first track is outstanding, also the last, but the tracks in between are great too. the first track is used very often in soundtracks like the netflix series how to get away with murder. th-cam.com/video/7iqxzURgQWg/w-d-xo.html
They have a few other albums, i'll link you their first and their actual album. the first was released in 1984 and is a bit joy division like, and their new album in 2018. it is awesome what a difference they made.
th-cam.com/video/STuikZ7yg8Y/w-d-xo.html (1984)
th-cam.com/video/1YsC32xLnkY/w-d-xo.html (2018)
2) THE SISERS OF MERCY
Gothrock at its best, no more to say. if the singer was'nt such an ********, they would have released maybe more albums. Well, just listen...
th-cam.com/video/CVbl7cWrB5M/w-d-xo.html
th-cam.com/video/D7N51K7Cz-w/w-d-xo.html
th-cam.com/video/evu3I0ZoERc/w-d-xo.html (Non Album track)
The singer and his bandmates did an album before these two, but split up because he was again such an *********. the result is THE MISSION, a band similar to the sisters, but at least still churning out new material. check them out if you have nothing to do with your time like me
3) KATE BUSH. mentioned above, not gothic at all, but very cool though
4) NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS
a completely other direction, but sometimes veery gothic, yet combined with blues and jazz. Nick Cave is like a vampire version of Elvis presley. their first albums are very dark and grungy and full of blues. then they grew more balladic and now they're almost soundtrack like. after the death of his son, nick cave put out two outstanding calm griefful albums. i'll link some of his albums for you.
th-cam.com/video/GwlU_wsT20Q/w-d-xo.html (GHOSTEEN 2019)
(very calm and ambient and full of grief and hope. Key tracks: Hollywood, Leviathan, Night Raid, but the album should be experienced as a whole)
th-cam.com/video/9iGxoJnygW8/w-d-xo.html (Skeleton Tree 2016)
(a darker version of GHOSTEEN. key tracks: Jesus Alone, Magneto, Distant Sky)
th-cam.com/video/tjF57zEbxpI/w-d-xo.html (Push The Sky Away 2013 or so)
(Calm and jazzy, first using techno elements instead of Harmonicas and Blues. Key Tracks: Jubilee Street, We no who U R, Finishing Jubilee Street, Push the sky away)
th-cam.com/video/ZBDkEMBNlXc/w-d-xo.html (DIG!!! LAZARUS DIG!!! 2009)
(Garbage rock and jazz, cool and moody. Key tracks: Dig Lazarus Dig, Night of the Lotus Eaters, Midnight Man, More News from Nowhere)
th-cam.com/video/02k-obmDw2Y/w-d-xo.html
(The Boatman's Call, 1998 i believe)
(Only piano and a few arrangements. classic and soulful. the first nick cave "ballad" album. Key Tracks: 1, 3, 5, 6, 10)
th-cam.com/video/XwNxcNCLnKw/w-d-xo.html
(Do You Love Me? 1994)
(One of his best albums. dark ambient blues that makes you feel you sit in a bar and smoke cigars while listening to some drunk guys and their stories. Key Tracks: 1, 3, 5, 6, 10)
Two rocky veeery dark albums:
th-cam.com/video/38rShJc2P-A/w-d-xo.html (Henry's Dream, 1992, Key tracks: 1, 5, 7, 8)
th-cam.com/video/VXbqD7OdlpQ/w-d-xo.html (his second album, The Firstborn Is Dead, 1985, Key tracks: All songs are great!!!)
Hope you'll enjoy
Sisters of mercy is worth Checking out
I love his voice. So low yet power in upper rang. Haunting voice.
His voice always 'Cuts you up!'💎
I remember when this album came out and this song. This song, is one of the most perfect songs ever. The music and then the lyrics. It’s everything. It’s just everything.
The voice and the iconic Frontman of Bauhaus !! Magical
These two lines : “ This is no terror ground or place for the rage “ should be established everywhere on every place on this Earth 🌏.
Deep is a work of art and massively underrated. Not a bad track on it.
Like talk talk Amazing band
Thus begins my 2024!
Peter has such a distinctive voice.
He has baritone voice.
He kind of sounds like Neil Diamond
@@charlesmack6235 id go a step further and say deadringer
Must like David Sylvian
@@charlesmack6235 I wouldn't mind listening to PM covering Sweet Caroline 😂
I love Peter Murphy. His music is so dark and mysterious. He's a genius. ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊
Definitely the best most poignant lyrics he ever wrote for a song. Powerful! ❤❤❤❤
July 4, 1992. Panama City Beach, FL. Dropped 2 hits of acid and 2 hits of xtc. I laid on the floor of my friends apartment for I don't know how long with this song on repeat. I thought I was in a stone cathedral with stained-glass tiles for a ceiling. The tiles were sparkling as they slowly spun, revealing a tempest raging outside. It was the most amazing night of my life.
I just discovered this artist about 6 months ago, I'm 33 and have been listening to older music my whole life and love how I can still discover things that are new to me. Peter Murphy is amazing, everything I hear I love, what an incredible artist, lots of soul.
i am old school and he never gets old to listen to for me...
I’m exactly your age, and I’m going to see him live tonight.
I'm 46 and know him since ever!!!!you sure are on the right part of the best music
Keep it going 😉
You'll have to check out Bauhaus if you haven't already. Bela Lugosi's Dead. He sang it hanging upside down at Coachella. So cool.
You should listen to him when. He was in Bauhaus.
Just came back from London a couple of days ago. Was on Bridge street near Big Ben and a man was on the street near the steps playing this song from a woofer speaker on the sidewalk. I was impressed that he was playing Peter Murphy. Moreover, I stood right next to Peter at a record store on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles back in 2010, we were both searching through CDs, I remember how tall and lean he was, and I recognized him instantly, he has the body of a yoga instructor. A very talented man indeed.
I saw him play in NY. He said he wrote this song after visiting Graceland. I don’t understand the connection but one of my all time favorite songs ever
Stunning song, Peter's voice is so beautiful, the lyrics touch me so deeply 🖤 perfect soundtrack for a rainy night.
Gândul Mitei есть на эту песню кавер песня.
Those cheekbones could cut glass!
testosteron and good genes...did its job....
Have the same cheekbones, makes me look really thin but thanks for the somewhat compliment.
Toast Man Yes! Peter is chiseled from cream cheese! So gorgeous!
Nothing wrong with looking thin (as long as you're not anorexic).
Glass? They could cut diamonds!
Still listening in 2020- 2021🖤
Me. Nice song goodtimes......
Oh yeah
Peter Murphy "The Vampires"❤
Love This Song...

If you are reading this post your taste in music is impeccable! Thanks for the musical vaccination. Thank you for posting this video....
Peace from Detroit MI.
I’m thinking about taking my girlfriend to Detroit for her birthday. She’s going with me to see Bauhaus this September in Atlanta. She wants to go to some good techno clubs. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks, from Tennessee
Listening for the first time ever! Oh my gosh. Already in my playlist and on the repeat! Shocked!
I've always liked this song. It's so heart felt. Peter Murphy's music is a bit dark, but hearing the words makes up the difference.
From The First Time You Hear Peter,, You Either Get Him,, His Music,, Delivery & Become An Instant Fan OR You Don't..I Feel Sorry For Those Who Don't.
God I love his voice so much
He was in Bauhaus. You might like his music from that band
@@gmar7836 yes I do, ♡ Bauhaus
One of the best voices of the eightys. Never tired of hearing this masterpiece
WHAT A VOICE!!!!!!!
When i was teen i dreamed my life with this music. Today i am 40 years old an i listen this music to begin this life.
The man is a genius. Any music that can move you like this is a true masterpiece.
Oh, brother. Nice unbridled hyperbole.
The man does no wrong. This is such a sweeping and haunting simply beautiful song with such amazing vocals. Peter is criminally underrated but I love that he has so much love to this day. I absolutely love his first two albums. Both sheer masterpieces that are untouchable. His later work is also good, but nothing shines quite like this gem and the other songs. Haunting, brilliant and memorable
Dark, and enchanting.. captivating and surreal in his music...
This is heartbreaking and beautiful,it crushes my soul and shatters my heart
Gawd, the bone structure of Peter Murphy is incredible 😍 not to mention his voice. And his eyes.
This song is a jewell... I love it... ❤
I never heard this before. This is amazing. I wish I had found Peter Murphy before. His voice gives me chills and I love it.
True, but don’t use the word amazing
@@gmar7836"incredible " 🖤
I've been a fan of Murphy for decades, he is a great talent indeed. His presence, his art reminds me of Bowie and maybe Iggy Pop vocally. It's unfortunate some Artists don't receive the recognition they are obviously deserving. Another 1980s excellent performer I appreciate is John Cooper Clarke.
Very intelligent and fascinating people both.
Acho que lembra mais Nick Cave ou Leonard Cohen
Discovered this song in the early days of Covid. My kids still say "your eythes" when we want a good laugh.
I so loved this song back in the '90s. Only just remembered it this morning, so looked it up. It's still fabulous and stands the test of time.
This song is so beautiful....Probably the most beautiful of all....love the words his voice and the music....WOW!
So darkly romantic; what a beautiful man, both inside and out.
the ending words and melody is haunting and unforgettable
A really beautiful and haunting song!.
He has such a unique & beautifully deep voice. No other compares! One of the best male vocalists to have ever graced our ears.
Pure gold.
His voice Is like the calm sea at night
Peter Murphy is part of the list of the best of the 80's.
all time best
My favorite Peter Murphy song..................greetings of Peru...
This voice touched me since the 80s. And this song is timeless melancholic for me thank you for this Peter🙏🏻
Perfect song. Perfect voice.
This song is timeless. A musical masterpiece.
Peter's the only artist I know who can perform in a way where it literally feels personally directed at you.
Like My gramma used ta say, " The eyes are the windows to the soul."💖✨
Peter Murphy was always considered as the advanced disciple of Bowie in the 80's, but he adds his magnificient voice and his personal style reflected on these kind of songs; where has all this music gone??
Bowie's DARKEST SON!!!....
They differ 10 years ...
This music is still alive in the Gothic genre from where Peter Murphy comes from
Like his Talent more than Bowies
Icehouse lead singer shows an influence as well
Good times..peter good times! 🥇
Brings tears to my eyes, like so little does these days.
Yes, so true Stella. My eyes seem to water up, also, every time I listen to this song by Peter Murphy. I think he's an incredibly great music artist, with a God-given singing voice. His lyrics in his songs have depth meaning. He just announced his U.S. tour for 2019, so I hope that we all that love him so much get a chance to see him! Stay true to Peter Murphy!! MegaRockgirl7 :)
@Alejandro Moreno S. indeed Alejandro, indeed!
One of the greatest songs ever written
I adore his voice, pure velvet, his eyes looking straight into my dark soul...his music...pure gold🖤
His greatest work in my opinion it all comes together like a perfect storm amazing
I love this man. So beautiful. With a voice to match.
Not in a million years could I come up with such awe inspiring lyrics or music. He has a gift and thank you for sharing that gift with the rest of us mere mortals.
Hypnotizing.
Peter voice is hauntingly beautiful still after all these years. I will not never get this generations music when there are beautiful songs like this and Peter's voice. The Brit's have had so much influence over us in the United States. The Brits have invaded twice(Music wise) in the states the 60's and 80's and then there is Peter. Without those invasions we would never have heard singers like Peter .Thank you for your music.Peter, its been something that touched so many of hearts so profoundly.
His eyes are really captivating.i just wanna stare at em all day
The vampire look really becomes him, goes so well w/ his scratchy, raspy voice. The melody, in true Peter Murphy fashion, is beautiful. See you in Istanbul again Peter!
Murphy has the best voice ever. Wish I got a chance to see him live!
He’s not dead? Go and see him live after lockdown is over...
Peter Bone just wasn’t sure if he will tour the states. If he does I will go
It is a good show. I saw him twice. Once as a solo artist and once with Bauhaus. I also saw Love and Rockets

same here. I discovered it only a year ago (though I am 46 ) and i think it's maybe the very best song in the world.
This songs brings tears to my eyes just as much today, at age 50, as it did when I was 20 years old.
It moves me in ways I can't even explain.
What a song1 damn what a song!
His look hypnotizes me
"perfect choice, taste and meaning.... a look into your eyes". Such beautiful expression.
A strange kind of love is a hauntingly beautiful masterpiece.A hypnotic journey. In lyrics. And a very. Important piece of music. Love it . complex and beutiful.
I'm same age, born in 1957. I remember something had cued me that he was important and good, I guess it related to hearing about Bauhaus also, back in the 80's, and his name lingered in the very back of my memories. And finally, 40 years later I decide to take an actually close look, and suddenly I'm in love with this art.
Perfection.
I lost my brother in-law and my good friend, both fathers, leaving widows and children. This song has a different meaning for me now.

Still here in 2020 ! This is a great song on a great album !
The video leaves you asking so many questions, as all great art does.
this whole album is pure magic. I loved it.
This song makes me want to cry. I would love to go back seven years ago to when I was a teenager that had just discovered Peter Murphy for the first time. The nostalgia hits me so hard when I listen to this song. Peter Murphy was, is, and will always be a beautiful artist.
His eyes are so beautiful :3 I love this song
Siren Yes, they are. He almost doesn’t look 100% human.
Well you both know he has contacts on right?
If I close my eyes I picture Neil Diamond singing this
DEFINITELY!!!
Favorite of all time ❤ there will never be music like this again so glad I was born in the 70's and got to enjoy this music as it was coming out. Kids today don't know what good music is.
So true
I agree, but I think every generation says that about the next generation's music. I'm also a child of the 70s and grew up with Murphy, the Cure, Depeche, etc. My parents always thought it was horrible and all the "real" music ended in the 60s.
I bought Peter's "Deep" album as a senior in high school. To this day, it's one of my 5 favorite albums....every song is just perfect. I guess what he was feeling meshed with what I was feeling...but whatever, it just clicked with me.
High School definitely a strange time.❤️
