I’m still waiting on mine to get here. I have the notify me when available. I like the whole idea behind it for all the reasons you stated can’t wait to hopefully get mine soon. Congrats
I was really curious about this product for the grom I will be getting soon. Couldn't find any info or videos on it. Thanks for your great videos on mini Motos. Keep up the great video content.
Should pair fine, I've been talking with Tyga Performance and may be trying out one of their exhausts for this bike so will have full dyno info with just the intake and exhaust. And if you're running the intake and exhaust, yes, you should run a tune.
If it was light rain, I wouldn't worry about it, on my other Grom and Monkey that both have exposed K&N cone filters, I've rode throughs some hard Florida rain with no problem. I'm not doing much rain riding here in SoCal but if I were, I might drill a couple of small relief holes at the bottom of this so that if I did get caught in something heavy the rain would more easily drain out before soaking up the filter.
Unless it’s torrential rain not much water is actually flying in there - if enough water does get in there and soaks the filter, the engine will suffocate and die but as soon as the filter is dried/replaced you’re good to go.
I wonder if you can help me out on this one i have the same Grom stock engine but with a Yoshimura RS-9T full exhaust system and i want to get the same TST WORX airbox cover and the DHM Decha Performance Stealth Intake Tube however will i need to get my Grom retuned and if so can i do that with the stock ECU?
Just got myself a 22 Grom and I am researching my mod path for it; after seeing your comparison of the stock lid vs the TST piece, why not simply take a dremel to a spare stock lid (costs $9) for the same effect? I just can’t see why you’d want to buy this piece for $75 + shipping when you could basically get the same effect for $9 and 5 minutes of cutting.
I'd imagine you'd get similar results sitting on the dyno with a airbox with holes dremeled in it - the TST cover is shaped slightly differently to have more surface area in the front and there's no hole in the back (like the stock one) to create a ram air effect, but any benefit there can't easily be tested on the dyno. The main benefit is that for an extra $66 you have a factory looking solution, but if aesthetics aren't important, i'm with ya.
@@eastcoastish to get the ram effect on the diy you can simply plug the hole of the stock box and then cut the front sort of like the tnt one you have there correct? Also is it the same speed increase on the chimaera vs the tnt ?
Might not look as nice but couldn’t you just use a Dremel tool to make air flow cut outs like the TST version. Or is there another factor to it that it would not work right doing that.
I’m not an expert in fluid dynamics but I assume if you did drill holes in the front, you may want to plug the rear hole so that you can that ram and pressurization effect of the air. Plus it wouldn’t look as cool 😅
I've rode my Grom and Monkey in the rain with open filter elements without a problem. If it's a torrential downpour you may drench the filter which will impact performance but it's not going to hydrolock.
Yeh this is effectively the same as an I take, and I’ve got similar dyno numbers with this as other intakes. If you have exhaust and intake you should get your ECU flashed.
@@eastcoastish Absolutely. Unlike the alternatives this mod most likely won´t be noticed in a police control. We have to get our cars and bikes checked every two years as well. For this check it´s easy to switch back to stock. I can´t wait for TST to have it in stock! Thank you for making this nice Grom content!
Congrats on getting one of the last 2022 groms - Honda announced its new 2023 lineup and confirmed w my dealer that my 22 order will rollover to the 23 models 😢
You should. You can get away with just the intake or the exhaust without having to have the ECM-flashed or run a stand alone engine management system like the aRacer, if you're running intake and exhaust you're getting too lean to run reliably. personally, I'd recommend an ECU flash for any modifications.
if you mean the stock airbox filter, Sprint Filter has aftermaket filters for em, on par with K&N, their stuff is amazing and used in all sorts of high end motorsports
We tested stock airbox setups with stock cover, and also our new performance cover, using stock filter and also our racing foam filter element. There was no gain from using a different filter element. This study was also done by Cameron Jones, and he confirms that there is no gain in spending money on aftermarket filter for this bike. The only advantage I would say is that you can was and re-oil the aftermarket filter and not have to throw away parts just because they got grimey.
hi, can you update us on if you see a real life riding performance improvement after an ECU flash? I have a stock 2022 grom too and ordered the MNNTHBX intake but its back order a month now and this seems to be a better overall solution. But, I am curious as to the performance difference. Eventually, I will also get a full yoshi exhaust.
I'm actually going to get this on the dyno and do a baseline stock run + a run with the TST airbox next week so I'll have some real data for you - I'm expecting it to make the same power as the other intakes. The sound is noticeably throatier, and if feels zippier, but yeh, I'll keep you posted, especially after I get it tuned.
@@eastcoastish do you think i should just buy it? i know you are busy with life and other videos. but definitely want to upgrade the air intake with possibly the TST Worx one. thx
@@bakotako at under $100 I would. I still haven’t got this to the dyno but it feels peppier and sounds better too. If you’re not going with an oil cooler I’d get the TST. If you do want to Kitaco oil cooler I’d go with the Dingerbuilt or the Chimera.

Interesting airbox cover. Looking forward to this being available. Videos are great! Please keep them coming.
Thank you for your time.
Can't wait to order one
How would this air box cover pair with the Yoshimura full exhaust? And would a DHM tune be necessary? Thanks for the help!

Okay, that's a "cool" OEM looking upgrade!!!!
Great video. I wonder if the filter will need to be changed more often. We get a lot of rain, and summer bugs here in Florida.
Probably so, but filters are relatively cheap.
@@eastcoastish Right. Probably worth it.
That's a pretty interesting solution
Thanks for the video. I was wondering what if it rains? I am using my Grom every single day to commute to work… any concerns about rain getting in?

Thank you, this is an awesome alternative to removing the stock air box, i plan on doing some diy cuts on my stock box. Its a killer price!🤘🏽😎
Yeah I just cut a whole pretty much loose the same
What happens when it rains
Wouldn’t the water go straight into the filter and into the motor ?

What part of sandiego you in me an my buddy i found with a grom would love to ride BTW i threw the stock carb back on my clone and she runs good now
you ever thought about Brocks aftermarket air filters with mod?
Is there an aftermarket filter element for the stock intake if so this product would be a great stealthy system
I've emailed both K&N and DNA, I haven't heard back yet, but I assume they're both working on one and would pair perfectly with this system.
@@eastcoastish if it makes as much power as an actual intake then why not run it great video
Do you think the Worx intake would pair even better with an aftermarket airbox filter?
Definitely - I've got emails out to K&N and DNA, I'm sure they're both working on something.
Just bought this, have you found any oil coolers that will work with it yet?
Yes, you can run the Takegawa one: japan.webike.net/products/24840653.html

So if I understand correctly I CAN’T run this cover with a man in the box intake right?
Correct. This cover is to help the stock airbox breathe better. The MNNTHBX intake replaces the stock air system entirely.
Question. I have a stock 2022 Grom. If I put this on do I reset the ecu or just ride and let the ecu sort itself out?
