As a professional ballerina this is how I do my buns... 1st step is to get it sleek with hair gel or hair spray and brush long baby hairs/flyaways all up, kinda how the woman in this video slekened it up. 2nd step is to get it in a tight and secure ponytail 3rd step is to spilt the ponytail into two equal pieces 4th step is to wrap one of the pieces around the top ponytail and do the same with the left over piece 5th step is to bobby pin that up *you could also do this while wrapping the ponytail* 6th step is to put a bun net on it 7th step is to take any left over hair or flyaways back with hair spray or gel i've been using this method for the past 13 years, it works perfectly. now that i teach a few classes with my mother (she owns the studio and i help out i don't really get payed but yk i do it bc shes my mom and i want to) i use that method on some of the girls when they need my help! hope this helps you all
I think maybe you should switch to using a donut. It creates a nice round, sleek look and a classic bun shape. Braiding the hair is a great technique for a quick throw together bun, but for a performance it looks lumpy and classic buns look much better. I highly suggest using only hair pins, unless securing fly aways, then use bobby pins. I also suggest creating a ponytail, then spray or gel the hair, finish the bun, then just in case, use hairspray again to secure it. Another tip: make sure the hair isn’t clean before doing a bun. It makes it harder to style.
Weird bun, not even and very lopsided. Best to avoid braiding the hair before twisting it into a bun. Shocked and disappointed by the quality of some "tutorials" posted.
Uhm... You kind of made her look bald on the sides by combing her hair that way.. Use a finer tooth brush, or even a toothbrush to comb it and make sure the scalp is not super visible.
it's a lot more effective to use a comb to smooth out the hair and not a brush. also, you don't use your fingertips and nails to work the gel into the hair; you use your palms (it gets the gel on top of the hair where you need it; you're not conditioning her hair you are putting gel in it). you don't braid the ponytail, you use hair pins, and if their hair is as slippery as this girl's hair, you should spray it with water before you put it up
And the gel application was uneven so there are big lumps of gel in her hair... I would brush and put her hair up in a pony tail first, and then I would dip a toothbrush in A LITTLE bit of gel and brush it through the hair so there is a thin, EVEN layer (not the pony tail though).
Hi can you help me? My hair is just too long and thick and layered. I do a regular bun for practice but for my performance tomorrow i have a hair piece so it has to be specific
I think you should not make a braided bun for performance, because her hair will fall out.Twisty buns are way more perfect than braided buns. This makes me worry the girl's bun will fly out because of the bun. So please don't make her a braided bun. Maybe the girl wanted braided buns, and say no.
This bun will fall out if instead of a twist it is braided. Twisting it makes it look more clean, classical look. Which you want for your performance or recital, unless your company does this hairstyle
Noooooo !!!!! 🙊🙊🙊🙊 Young Need water and Brush it and den You put a Little Bit gel !!!! No this much .... and Spray from a distance of 15-20 cm !!!! Thais Not Professional... and i know what iam Talking about ... I'am Dancer At the Vienna Staatsopra!

6th step is to put a bun net on it
7th step is to take any left over hair or flyaways back with hair spray or gel

When I was in dance class it literally took a million Bobby pins for my thick hair to go up in a performance bun
loved it. I Remember the first time I did my own bun it feel out ...

Donut buns are NOT proper for dance they’re for fashion use. Professional dancers never use donuts and they look bad

Lighten up
I hope that bun survives. It doesn't look secure to me
Yeah
Thanks! Can you do this with a French twist?

Being a dancer myself, bobby pins fall right out! it's better if you use hair pins they keep your hair in place.
I done ballet for 5 years and I know how a bun in my hair but it's hard to because my hair is curly

People braid their bun bc they have thick hair like me don’t tell her how to do a bun tutorial
Weirdly, I found this a relaxing video lol.

omg I thought I was the only one that used the toothbrush technique so much better application

Nice job😎👍🏻

Some says its ugly but i like the way that she braids her hair before she puts it into a bun but pls do it neater next time😊
I like it!
That bun dont look right. Even for class😕😑
You are right
Probably because it's a braided bun and that she didn't pin the bun in the process of Making the bun.
You also need a low bun with a left side hairline...it basic knowledge. I would never dare wear my hair like this for class....
Come on seriously? YOU DONT BRUSH THROUGH THE PONYTAIL AFTER YOU PIT IT IN!
*put
Lmao...I do that somtimes
Stop with the hate she's probably a professional and knows more than you
I am going to go with"nope, she doesn't" if you are going to put a tutorial on TH-cam then at least make sure you do it right. This was horrific.
What gel do you use
I have really long and thick hair I'm lucky enough to even do a pony tail and a braid that's it
My bun for class isn't even this bad..
I cringed so hard at all of this. ESPECIALLY WHEN SHE USED A BIG ELASTIC AT THE BOTTOM. it was just all around horrible
