One thing to note is that the Progress field isn't actually useful if you try to use Planner as a Kanban board in this fashion since progress is tracked via which bucket the task is in. Further, you'll probably want to track task type (e.g. Epic). I personally use the colored labels to do that. However, you have a finite number of labels so these kanban boards can't be long running.
Also lets say the new year has started and we have say some projects that need to be delivered over the year. How can we use planner to do that and track the different projects over the year. Do I need to add tasks or add new bucket for this purpose. Am new to it so would like to have more guidance
Great Video. I have few questions. My first question is regarding who has the access to make changes to the board, add comments or change the status of the task. Secondly, If a task is in the starting stage and let say it moves on to the completion stage, will the task move automatically because in the video she says you need to drag the box to either in progress, development or completed.
Yes you can via Flow - see flow.microsoft.com/en-us/galleries/public/templates/49b235a0374011e7870df906aa521b7a/create-planner-tasks-for-important-office-365-emails/
I think it's not the best way to use the buckets for indicating progress as the tasks have a progress field and in Planner, you cant define progress status to a bucket so when you move a task between buckets its status remains the same. So as I see the buckets it not for progress indication. Anyway you can Group by the progress the tasks. I know, the only problem with that is the limitation / as you can have 3 fix progress statuses only.
Thanks for the feedback Zsombor- you're probably right! There are many limitations to MS Teams Kanban board- in my opinion Trello is the better option as it's much more customisable. Let me know if you have a system to suggest!
@@pmlogic3360 thank you for accepting my feedback very friendly! :) I’m just inspecting the limitations and concept of Planner as I would be really happy to switch from Trello to Planner because of Planner’s perfect integration into Teams (and it is part of our o365 subscription) - but it’s really hard to leave behind Trello as it’s still much more user friendly and production ready than Planner... I’m not sure we can change now...maybe next year....who knows :) The group by functionality is nice in Planner anyway
@@HunSoul of course! We also use it because it works with our other MS elements, but it's arguably not the best thing ever... MS need to give it quite the upgrade soon!! As a basic Kanban, it functions well enough though! All the best this year.
@@HunSoul Planner has just increased its labels from 6/5 to 25. Labels can be used to add onto the limited option that progress status has. For instance, while “in progress”, you can have a label as “awaiting on client”, “approved”, “on hold”, “rescheduled”, etc...

Me too. I think it's not available anymore. :(

Has anyone found a way to convert emails directly to a kanban entry?
Yes you can via Flow - see flow.microsoft.com/en-us/galleries/public/templates/49b235a0374011e7870df906aa521b7a/create-planner-tasks-for-important-office-365-emails/
Which program do you use for recording the video?
Hi Maria- on a Macbook, there's an inbuilt screen-recording function called Quicktime Player. Hope that answers!
Can you make planner boards "Read Only" ?
Yes - through access permissions. If you make your plan public, you can simply send the url to someone and it will give them read only access.

Planner is not good comparing to trello, can't attache picture from ctrl + v
This is a great video but it would be more visible on a white background rather than black
Thanks for your feedback Ningyo- will put it on lighter screen for next session!
2021 Is not Planner in Teams. You may have deleted this video.
