very nostalgic. I left MIA in 1968 about 4 PM via PanAm to Guam on my way to NYC. When I boarded the plane I said to myself: " I am coming back." I came back in 1975. I am proud of my Filipino heritage.
I remember when I first left the country to work in the UK, saying good bye was the hardest part. Nung nagpapaalam ako sa misis ko with my 2 year-old son umiiyak sila. Pinipigilan ko rin sarili ko na umiiyak. Pero nung nasa ere na ang eroplano derecho na tulo ng luha ko. Sabi ko, “this is it.”…. I wish I never had left. Loosing 3 years of my life without them. Ang napaka ganda lang nakilala ko ng lubusan ang Panginoon at hindi Nya ako pinabayaan at ang pamilya kong naiwan. Salamat sa video BEATA. Keep the nostalgia. God bless! 🙂

I left the Philippines in 1990 for SF via Narita. I was calm when the plane left Manila.But when the plane took off from Narita, I started crying my eyes out. I knew I was leaving for sure.
Agree, happened to me too, when I moved to Sydney in the late 80’s, only when I was sitting alone on the plane that it hit me that I was leaving my past. This uploads are now my go to place to remember what it was and wishing I can go back and bring back those happy days…take care and be safe always 🙏🙏😊😊😊
My late father was a lead mechanic of Qantas Airways for decades and then of Cathay Pacific after Qantas Airways stop and sold its maintenance facility to the latter. When we were little, our father would take us during Saturdays for a visit to the facility and buy us soft ice cream. When the first Boeing 747 landed in the Philippines, our father gave us a tour of the giant aircraft, making us one of those few people who were privileged to get a first hand tour of said aircraft.

I left the Philippines 1992 , never felt any homesick, being away from my family was my happiness and their happiness moment, they like me to be away from them ,not feeling belongs to the family somewhat can help to relieve the pain of being away from your own country, not for money , but rather to find a home that can welcome me and feel the love from others, I have survived up to this day not longing or missing them , the same way from them, but still continue to help them financially , taking a break for weeks or a month is the sadness moments for them , I thought things would changed but unfortunately the feeling was still the same, so I rather to stay for good HERE up until my last call~ and praying that GOD above would welcome me there~
If my old folks were irresponsible and passive, I might feel the same way. I mean, let's be practical, more so, that I am a happy go happy person, God bless.
Just always hold on to the Lord. He will never ever let go of us. Just strengthen your faith. Whatever happens, may it be bad or good, always remember tht God has plans for us and there’s always a reason why things happen. Never ever put the blame onto the Lord. Left the Philippines somewhat around this time frame. It was easy for me to leave the country as I was going to follow my future wife. I remember my elementary days late 60s inihatid nmen sa MIA ang auntie nmen bound for USA ntatandaan q na aakyat pa kmi sa view deck pra tingnan ang pag sakay nya sa airplane. Ang dami tao kumakaway sa pg lisan ng mga mahal nla sa buhay, kht sa labas ng airport sa parking lot andun ang mga jeeps full of families for their last bonding masayang nagka kainan. It's one of the hardest part of our lives is to leave our families abroad for work. I've been in that situation 17 years ago and still it brings back that feeling. Sigh! Hay Matapos lang itong pandemic natin for sure I'm going back for vacation...

In the original Manila International Airport (MIA), there is view deck where one can see and wave goodbye to one's loved ones before they board their airplane. You can even go inside the airport, have a leisure walk, shop there, eat there except off course in the area restricted for departing travellers. In the new terminal which features passenger retractable tubes, one can no longer see departing loved ones. Also, while before one can still enter the airport even if not a traveller but only up to the entrance for travellers, this privilege was totally removed as one has to bade goodbye at the unloading vehicle ramp after one's loved ones goes out of the car.
I still remember when it was MANILA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT BACK IN 1971. Love MIA and thanks for the memories.

very nostalgic video that I liked most. I remember my elementary days late 60s inihatid nmen sa MIA ang auntie nmen bound for USA ntatandaan q na aakyat pa kmi sa view deck pra tingnan ang pag sakay nya sa airplane. Ang dami tao kumakaway sa pg lisan ng mga mahal nla sa buhay, kht sa labas ng airport sa parking lot andun ang mga jeeps full of families for their last bonding masayang nagka kainan. Pero ngyon dna uso ang mghatid sa airport at nka taxi nlng or travel by bus, nkaka missed ang lumang Manila International Airport 😢😥

Throw back of my college days to the one wasn't meant to me..
It's one of the hardest part of our lives is to leave our families abroad for work. I've been in that situation 17 years ago and still it brings back that feeling. Sigh! Hay Matapos lang itong pandemic natin for sure I'm going back for vacation...
Most of the comments reflect leaving the Families but are reunited again, hence the pain is temporary. The most excruciating dolour address the moment two lovers separate from each because each know, they have no one to come back for. An end to a chapter if not end of existence. This is the gist of this melancholic tune.

Everytime na babalik na ko sa work ko sa ibang bansa, I never look back sa family kc bka hnd ako tumuloy at ayokong makiya nila umiiyak ako habang papasok sa departure entrance
my father was a ofw madalas namin sya ihatid dyan it is 10 minutes away from our old house kaya ako nung nag abroad ako everytime na uuwi ako nag ta taxi nalang ako pauwi ng bahay .

In the original Manila International Airport (MIA), there is view deck where one can see and wave goodbye to one's loved ones before they board their airplane. You can even go inside the airport, have a leisure walk, shop there, eat there except off course in the area restricted for departing travellers. In the new terminal which features passenger retractable tubes, one can no longer see departing loved ones. Also, while before one can still enter the airport even if not a traveller but only up to the entrance for travellers, this privilege was totally removed as one has to bade goodbye at the unloading vehicle ramp after one's loved ones goes out of the car.
And that’s sad… hope they can revert that privilege. Thanks @ marcos bruce Manguerra. 🇵🇭🙏
