Sometimes I lie awake at night wishing Wheeler was my dad. If you and Keifer are looking to adopt a 28 year old American man hit me up.
Reminds me of that naked gun joke
th-cam.com/video/A096Yh5m_X8/w-d-xo.html
Didn’t I try and adopt that 18 year old Korean girl?!
Get in line brother..im gonna be the adopted 28 y/o around here
and a 20 yo american woman
@@momoatsuko727 To heck with all of you guys, adopt someone near their age: a 35 year old American.
Hands down the most entertaining MTG content out there.... How can one not engage?
I love that serge declines to cut and that lead to Nelson drawing the kill
1:42:45 holy shit Nelson playing burn all of a sudden
the wincon is "hurt your opponents feelings"
Oh i feel so bad for Cam; you can see him deflate when he realizes he lost. I just want to see him win games and be happy, Cam is in my opinion the most fun and ENGAGING member of the cast (not that i don't love everyone else, I just love Cam the most).
He made so many mistakes.
@@Ninjamanhammer Yeah. His deck choice.
Absolutely agreed, I love watching Cam play and I love his enthusiasm for his deck, even if it has bad match ups. I really hope he does well in future - you got this Cam!
@@steelWindAlchemist He could have beaten Alex in game 3 if he remembered to bring back the champion at any point after saccing it to Liliana.
@@simonteesdale9752 I just kept saying "Raid! Raid!" to myself every turn he'd pass with mana open and no cards in hand. Even if he just had it on the field to sac to the feeder, it would've been enough. Feels bad but that's the only way you get better!
A bit of feedback for the next league, something that I have found useful in leagues is giving players 1 point per game win and then 1 point for taking the match, it helps with tie breakers and acts as a catch up mechanic to reward players for playing well and taking games.
So the winner of each match gets three points, and the loser gets either 0 or 1 point, and a draw is one point each? So, the same as usual, except sometimes you get a point for a loss? Hm...
@@gradyturnbull1137 Basically yes, but because they don't do draws there is not a 1 pointer. This is a system I normally use for leagues with out game timers.
@@gradyturnbull1137 The benefit is that going 1-2 is rewarded, which is good because it's better than going 0-2. You get something for winning games, not just matches.
I'm coming back to this in 2022, and man, that game with Alex and Cam is some super powerful magic. Such an awesome game super entertaining.
Heather, it was within your power to edit out both of those microphone flubs, and I love that you didn't do it.
Rodion if there is one thing i learned from MailTime it’s that she likes making them look like fools
Fantastic Magic as always. Thank you for letting me watch what is easily my favorite format.
Nelson just straight yeeting Serge into the shadow realm wow 😂
That Replenish interaction was absolutely hilarious
I thought the face mask was for a goof, but it's just Alex being nice.
That.
And intimidation!!!!!
Ahead of his time
I think it's safe to say that Alex's new deck is indeed a functional one
In case anyone here’s wondering, this content is engaging
Poor Cam needs to re-read the raid mechanic on THE CHAMP, attacking with the carrion feeder would've triggered raid allowing him to have gotten that last few damage in. High tension game tho, such fun to watch.
I was so confused why he wasn't recasting it. Thought I missed it getting exiled somehow.
Also, did he let Cutthroat get Strike'd instead of giving it to Feeder, or did I miss something there?
Really shows how small decisions and misplays can hoist you in the end.
Every time Cameron and Serge bring the most fun decks and get destroyed. XD
I have hit the bell to get notifications on when you give us more Magic goodness. You're literally the only channel I have hit the bell for.
one of the funniest things about yawgmoth is that he doesnt put a -1/-1 counter on ANOTHER creature, he just cant target himself because hes got protection from humans.
The exchange starting around 1:42:40 is straight savage.
52:00 couldnt cam do the Raider shenaigans the last 2 turns aswell?
I think Cam didn't realise he could bring it back if ANY creature had attacked. I feel bad for him because he had lethal because of it and missed it :(
Cam punted suuuuper hard.
Yes, yes he could have, and should have.
Yeah, watched it live, chat was BLOWING UP. It happens though, triggers are easy to forget
Maybe he just forgot he had other options after the Liliana made him discard and go into top deck mode
Damn, Friday Nights Nelson coming out against Serge right out of the gate
Re watching this, insert joke about Alex wondering what 2020 will be like.
Am I stupid or is week three not on TH-cam? Did it not happen?
That was a styling finish from Nelson there. Nice work 👌
I was making a bagel when Nelson said "I know how he takes his bagel". Surreal moment there
Ah Alex, wearing a mask in public before it was cool
Though wearing it wrong.
I was really hoping for Alex to go undefeated this league, but 5-1 is still very good.
watching cam miss lethal against alex by not raiding back the champion hurt so much
I love Canlander content, and as much Wheeler as possible
Phoenix escapes as a 3/3, only just started the vid, hoping they catch it. Edit- they caught it!
I’d delete outta shame... but the engagement.
Don't worry, chat was wall to wall comments about it :P
Shame motivated engagement is still engagement. The Algorithm cares not for our petty human emotions.
"in my defense I'm quite stupid" - Cameron Lauder
Cam vs Alex game 3 and Serge vs Nelson game 3 were very engaging. Loved it!
1:40 the typesetting highlight of this stream.
I do really like all this Canlander but I kinda wish we can get some another night of pioneer.
Serge, the plane of Ice Age is Dominaria.
When he escaped ox to try to draw duress wasn't just better dredge to find cabal ?
Such a good round 1
Damn Nelson x Serge match was like watching tennis
Carrion Feeder was lethal on Alex, Cam should have won. He forgot to put a counter on it at 48:40
Nope, Champion was blocked and died, not sacrificed to CF. Otherwise Alex could have one more blocker for the feeder.
I'd like to engage with this content, even before watching it fully. Please notice it, TH-cam algorithm.
Alex v Cam was a super close match. I may have paid for the whole seat, but I only needed the edgggggggge
Rewatching this during quarantine; I think Cam could have won if he'd remembered his Raid triggers on Bloodsoaked champion. Would have had a bigger carrion feeder, gotten in for that last point of damage
Amazing video! More highlander!
52:50 Cameron could have saced his blood soaked champion the previous turn. He would have had lethal.
Cam just forgot that raid ability for the finishing blow....
33:00 I'm so sorry
36:15 "It was really boring spending all this time at home"
It really boggled my mind - was there a reason why Cam did not activate the BloodSoaked more? Esp. in the final almost lethal attack that would feed the feeder more?
Sometimes you gotta establish dominance.
Super fun to watch!
Why would jer fetch away in game 1 of round 2 when he had the dryad out except for his mystic sanctuary?
Wheeler in game 2 just punted super hard with that kroxa l. Jereny had 2 cards in hand he plays seer sacs anger escapes kroxa forcing a discard and then attacks eith kroxa forcing a discard and getting the scapeshift out of the hand.
41:30 Am I missing something or could Cam have sacrificed to Carrion Feeder in response?
Yes, he could’ve, I think he just missed it, that just happens sometimes.
Serge if you put in arbor elf as one does in gsz decks. I assume it's a deck with auras? It's bedn a staple in bogles.
Really good games! A couple of them came down to top deck Hail Mary draws.
Is it just me or is candlander the most anime of formats?
It’s not just you, don’t worry.
I like how Alex starts off by saying how he's going to blow Cam out of the water and Cam starts by calling up the scores with him in dead last.
And then cam beats Alex!! Bam
Cam, my man. As a fellow aristocrats player, can i suggest cutting the green? Mardu (what i play) is less demanding mana-wise and it seems like the green additions in your list have similar effects in other WBR cards, or are there for fixing. Merely my two cents.
He did play Mardu-crats in the earlier leagues, and added green to smooth out his mana
@@stasisarbiter8710 ah, the classic play of splashing green for fixing.
If you need 3 mana on turn 2 and are playing a good number of fetches then drs is better than not having a dork at all, plus it's graveyard interaction, reach and 2 toughness. There aren't that many 1 mana ramp spells and many less that fix multiple colors.
I mean dryad definitely buy not in all green but in a deck with auras and gsz seems like upside far outweighs the down. And bogles and cradle decks are the 2 its been a constant in.
0-2 Milkshake bracket is best bracket
Where is episode 3
covid said no
@@jorbin0 ah, bummer
Can we make this... weekly?
Serge was out of timeouts and gets a technical foul. Yes it's fab 5 joke and I'm old.
Phoenix should have escaped with a counter on it
As much as I love Cam holy SHIT he hurt my soul by doing the bloodsoaked champ tricks multiple times per turn then throwing away the win by not ever bringing it back after lilli killed it. Arghhhhh :(
It also would've been fun to watch the bottom player beat the top player to open out this week.
How do you shuffle a Highlander deck effectively?
With your hands.
@@Ninjamanhammer
Thank you
Engaging with this video so they keep going!
I was going to say that Cameron didn't mark a counter on the c. feeder when he should have. I was GOING to say that; Then, I replayed the point in the video I thought it happened at, looked up the exact cards involved, watched it Again, and realized I was wrong.
I'm point all this out because I feel like others (especially twitch chat) should take All of these steps before commenting on a rules/play error.
Nope, he forgot. He also sacked to Lilliana once, but there was a time he sacked to Feeder and replayed the champion without adding a counter.
@@Ninjamanhammer No, that's the time I was talking about. He didn't sack, it traded for a token. If he had sacked, Alex would have kept the token. It's not the line I would have taken, but it was a legitimate play.
Thanks for emphasizing my point, though.
Well his real crime was not replaying the champion the many times he had the option.
... why does Alex have a face shield on? Did I miss something? Has Alex become a ghoul?
Skylar TenHaaf he’s sick and didn’t want to spread it to the rest of the crew!
Is there a reason Cam isn't running Plateau?
He doesn’t own one I believe, it’s been mentioned before. To be fair, it’s $125 on TCG - that’s a crazy expensive piece of cardboard.
@@jamestrevelyan1268 Card Kingdom has some explaining to do if he still doesn't have one.
People ripping on cam need to relax. It's not fair or useful to expect people to play to perfection on a game they're playing for fun with friends.
"You made a sub-optimal play, literally feed yourself into a wood chipper!"
Cam seemed like he was having a lot more fun when he was playing his Grixis deck. I think he just has the slight misfortune of choosing one of the most intricate decks in the Highlander format as his forever deck and he's still getting a handle on the lines.
How does one improve when you don't succeed using the same deck?
@@steelWindAlchemist I strongly get the impression that Cam only really plays Highlander here on the FNPFs; I have to assume he's busy when they do it at Yellowjacket. Which results in three rounds of Magic with an intricate deck per month. That's not exactly much time to get to know the deck perfectly.
@@SpawnofHastur I think it's worthwhile to remember that can seems to be involved in a lot more of the nonmagic content put out by lrr which probably keeps him and the rest of the crew pretty busy
did Alex "upgrade" his duals to Revised?
the gagement is real.
ooh... the misplays.... not path to exiling in response to the Bombardment cast, forgetting rabblemaster has mentor...
Edit: I got that one wrong... Rabblemaster isn't Legion Warboss. Apologies
Rabblemaster doesn't have mentor though?
@@itsover9000 Oooh... Just let me carefully remove my foot from my mouth and bask in the glorious shame of wrongfully correcting someone... I could delete my comment, but I'd rather let it stand as a monument of warning to those who come after me: Fact check your snooty internet comments, kids!
Lol
Can you guy bring the spike feeders in for a episode of highlander
I have come to engage with this content for one (1) Cameron Lauder.
did you make a luniz joke. holy shit.
Rip cam
Good to see you boies.
Well, no homework this morning!
Ben wouldn’t manaless dredge be more your style
ENGAGEMENT STATUS: ENGAGEMENT ENGAGED
1:42:45.....I just witnessed Nelson murder Serge.
I feel bad for cam but couldn't he have used raid like a lot. Like he kept passing when he could've raided.
game action count: engaged
also I'm excited to see serge pop off one of these days with sanctum stompy
Sooooooooo close!
quite early - no counterspells on the way
Cameron please remember your effects man that lost was depressing...
SageSF3 like I love cam but Jesus fucking Christ man
#engaging with #content.
am i doing this right?
I'm pretty sure Cam forgot to put a counter on feeder the last turn he sacked it to the feeder. But what a round 1!!!!!
The Phoenix in round 1 game 1 is actually a 3/3 not a 2/2
Fabled passage has the land enter tapped. It didn’t affect the game, but worth noting.
didn't he have 4 lands ? not 100% sure but too tired to rewind and check :)
It checks how many lands are in play including the land that just entered if at least 4 it stays untapped. Did they untap it when it had less
It's not a 'may', June.
Oh no, Bloodsoaked Champion being forgotten in the graveyard hurts.
Serge is an impossibly cute human being, please protecc.
Did Cam forget to draw at the start of game 1? Or was it just me?
He did. I had to rewind. I believe he also forgot to bring back his bloadsoaked champion several times at the end of game 3. Bummer
Should have cut serge!
Does Alex have SARS?
Alex not using cling to dust on the land to draw a card for multiple turns was tilting as anything.
From the comments it seems like my impression that aristocrats is a terrible deck that no one should seriously consider playing in this format is more along the lines of "Its complicated to play and mistakes cost you." But man, you could go into each of these videos predicting a 0-3 lose record for Cam, and almost always win the bet.
Its honestly depressing, cause I like competitive games and seeing people win. I've got to assume, since everyone else pretty much brings a different deck every time they play, but Cam sticks with one he is either in love with the deck, or not able to afford multiple decks. Either of those options makes seeing him stuck with a deck that is almost a guaranteed 0-3 is super depressing to watch. Like man I am beginning to think he needs to just bring in mono-red aggro and win the whole tournament 12-0 next time or something just to make up for it.
Granted, I'm the awful person who would only ever play mono-red beat down in this format (as I do in every MtG format it exists in) and damn the haters, so maybe a different deck but like, I feel my point stands. Seeing Cam lose every single game, and it being so common his going 0-3 is an easy prediction to make and get right every canlander video is depressing.
Cam loves aristocrats. Its extremely fiddly and complicated, so its easy to make mistakes. He missed lethal in game three by not doing more raid shenannigans. Mistakes with the deck are extremely punishing because of how fiddly it is, but its by no means a bad deck.
Nothing wrong with playing mono-red aggro, and it won't 12-0 the league. You can watch the first couple leagues and see Ben Ulmer run mono-red. Its certainly very strong, but not completely dominant. Cam also wouldn't do as well with it as Ben because he doesn't have the familiarity.
@@ammo1317 Thanks for the info, and yes I was not trying to say Aristocrats was a bad deck. I wouldn't have judged it based on the small sample size of these videos anyhow. It's just alarming to see Cam lose with the same deck over and over, regardless of why.
Also, its good to know mono-red isn't the house people joke about it being. I just recall from this series that its the go too "groan if you see it" deck. Which is just how Mono-red is, sinces its synonymous with "Cheap aggro/aggro in general in pretty much every MtG format. "Let me apologize in advance for playing mono red" is almost as ingrained in me as "Good luck have fun" when it comes to discussing magic. I won't drop the deck, I love the speed it brings to games and the top-deck rush. I'm glad its an archetype that wizards seems to always be glad to support. Hell, I don't need it to be tier 1 or what-ever you wanna call it, tier 2 is a perfect place for my favorite deck in a format.
Cams one of my favourite LRR members but he’s definitely a skill level below the other highlander players
Not first but first to say first
Cameron deserved to lose after forgetting about his Bloodsoaked Champion for 4 turns. Love the guy, but man, what was that...
Jesus dude, it's a fucking casual game. You sit there are try to talk and function a complex deck. Get overyourself.
@@nathanjudy7705 Casual and all, but Cam failed to find a correct land off of WH at least twice. That's not rocket science. And if you play aristocrats isn't sacrificing your stuff the core mechanic of the deck?
@@RatKillerSVS I understand that, and he lost the match because of it yes. But saying he deserved it and coming off like he's just an idiot is dumb and rude. It contributes nothing. The games are over. They were even useless during the stream while it was happening.
Nobody 'deserves' to lose. Toxicity doesn't help anyone.
@@Questioningbasics I'm not saying he's dumb, I really like him and I think he's super witty and knowledgeable. I said that this play would have won him the game, he used the ability multiple times and then just completely blanked out on it. Casual or not, to have a functioning game, both players are supposed to try to win, and he just stopped looking for ways to do it. That was a critical mistake and made him lose. Deservedly.
Cameron throwing away the game so hard by not returning Bloodsoaked Champion 3 turns in a row really makes me think all of this is scripted.
Mad cap experiment would have killed him
it deals damage to you = to the cards revealed
still a very entertaining game though!
Platinum Empyrion prevents all damage. It enters the battlefield and then the Madcap Experiment damage goes off, but Jeremy's life total can't change.
The way Madcap works (and the reason it works with Platinum Emperion) is you resolve the effects in order - you reveal cards until you hit an artifact (always Plats since there are no others in the list) then put it into play, then take damage equal to the number of revealed cards. However, Platinum Emperion's static ability prevents your life total from changing, so the damage doesn't *do* anything and you're left with a Platinum Emperion in play.
