I'm seeing a lot of comments on here about the 5 round magazine or not being able to attach a flashlight. That being said, Nordic Components makes a two shell magazine extension and a barrel clamp for that extension with a rail section on one side (for that flashlight) and a QD socket on the other. And if you want a pistol grip, Mess Tactical has that covered. I've had my 1301 Tactical for several years now, and I absolutely love it.

Jordan Jiskra Do the Nordic Components magazine extension and the Mesa Tactical pistol grip stock help with making the Beretta 1301 922R compliant? I have been thinking about buying this gun from botach.com with the two round magazine extension and the pistol grip stock and was wondering if that helped with keeping it 922R compliant.

Just as I was ready to buy one locally unfired for $1000, I found a company that had them in stock for probably a day or two for approximately $850.00. Very excited to get it and start shooting it and practicing these drills from previous posts.

Hello and good afternoon Chris. May I too join the chorus suggesting the Mossberg 930. They definitely not finnicky about lower pressure field loads as some of the other semi auto offerings. If I were going to by a semi auto tactical shot gun the 930 would be my top consideration. I would also install a Nordic magazine tube extension for a 7 round total with the 18.5 inch barrel. I currently own a Mossberg 590 SP that has had a couple upgrades as in removing the polymer trigger guard and safety switch with the aluminum and the addition of a Mesa tactical 6 round shot shell carrier mounted on the left side of the receiver. It's a 20" 8+1 but with the Magpul Buttstock and the short stock method indoors it is a workable home defense weapon. I have both learned much from your defensive shotgun videos and enjoyed them as well. All the best to you Chris. Be safe.

This video came at the perfect time. I've been looking at getting an autoloader for a while and the 1301 has always been at the top of my list EXCEPT for that fatal double-feed flaw. With an option to fix that, along with being able to use an SGA stock (which I love on my 590A1), the 1301 is the natural choice. Unless a Benelli M3 magically appears for an incredible price, this will be my next long gun.

  • @marksd5650

And...now that I’ve looked at the Aridus website, I see that your upgrades are about $500 to $600 added to an already $995 gun. Maybe I need a Benelli instead? What about a sling. Great video. You are by far my favorite. I rewatch your videos all the time.

Excellent video Sir. FYI the current price for this wonderful 1301 Gen 2 that has zero issues is about $1400. Plus tax and FFL charges.
Well worth it. It’s November 4th 2021. I expect prices to climb because inflation and the shotgun is that good. I just bought the Marine model and
I am collecting the Magpul stock, Aridus industries mounting plate ($94 delivered), Nordic plus 2 front extension ($150) various saddle ammo carriers I haven’t decided on yet. Other cool items might eventually be a CROM, Holosun 507, some sort of light and mounting stuff.

How about a 'Part 4' on the new Gen 2 1301 Tactical. I just received one (the Marine color - Black/Silver - have not fired it yet). They fixed the bolt release issue. Basically only one function (like the Aridus shroud fix) - bolt release, no magazine unloading function, as far as I can tell.
I'm finding now that unloading the magazine tube is a bit of a PITA. I was practicing with 12 ga snap caps. I really hope I am missing something. The Manual is somewhat useless, unfortunately. Thx.Joe

This 1301 has everything....except an adequate magazine extension. That is my opinion that it is absolutely mandatory above everything else. I for one appreciate the added mass and weight of extra accessories on a tactical 12 (shell carrier, optics...etc) those additional ounces really aid in managing recoil on magnum slugs and buckshot.

Are you aware of any incident where a non-LEO, law abiding citizen was required to fire more than 5 rounds from a shotgun in order to stop a violent attack? Do you know of any incident in which a citizen was killed or seriously injured in their home because their shotgun tube with 4+ shells had insufficient capacity? I have not been able to find any examples of either. I have nothing against extended mag tubes, I'm just not convinced they are "absolutely mandatory" for a home defense shotgun.

www.rapidtrends.com/surving-argentinas-economic-collapse-part-1-3/ sorry. Long read. Hopefully nothing like this will ever happen in the USA. Hopefully. Your definition of "violent attack" is limited to our current status quo. This entire country of ours could go full "rats in a barrel" in one week flat under the worst circumstances. Honestly, I don't even keep my 6+1/7+1 round Benellis loaded. They are all locked in a safe. I will bring them out and load them on the day when nobody shows up for work.....

Just wish the fore-end didnt look so bulbous, and that it didn't cost $1000. If it was around 600-700 I think it might actually be more competitive. And I know probably not exactly a quality comparison, you can get Mossberg 930's base model at around 400$, JM Pro's for 500, and the SPX Tactical at just under 600... The fact I'd have to dump money on an adapter and the magpul stock, plus the basically mandatory upgrade for the bolt release/unload button, add in a tube extension, and it doesn't come with an option for chokes?... I absolutely couldn't justify more than 700-800 MSRP for that thing, especially when I can just get a Benelli M2 Tactical for really not much more or about the same price...

I don't know. The Magpul stock is probably slightly heavier, but it's not noticable.

That stock it comes with is definitely not too long for the average person IMO. I think if anything it might be a little short for most. I'm 5'11 and it's a little short for my tastes, but I bought a kick eez recoil pad which should make it just right.

Great vid! Very professional filming, cutting and presentation. One little thing though. Could you hold the object still when holding it and talking about it. when it flips up n down in your hands it disturbs the exellent presentation. Else slick and instructional vid. You still have my sub :D

Chris have you looked at the Mossberg 930. They are not finnicky about lower pressure game and target loads as are some of the other semi auto offerings on the market.

Speaking of low quality parts, does this shotgun come with a plastic trigger group?

Better late than never; I just sat down and watch the video, excellent I love my 1301 tactical, I upgraded for the pistol grip version (I forget the name) but, I live in California, and I've Got til June to register as the evil assault rifle, yep California's making it safe....
Anyway I'm going to have to remove it and I will definitely & sincerely, be looking at that Magpul adapter and stock....
And what the hell I might as well do a full upgrade, on the battery assist lever latch....
    L/G YOUR THE MAN....

So are all long guns with pistol grips now considered verboten in CA, or just semi-autos?

    • @FireheartSamurai
      @FireheartSamurai 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Lucky Gunner Ammo It only applies to center-fire semi automatic rifles & shotguns. Manual operated firearms such as pump action & bolt action are currently exempt from CA’s Assault Weapon Bans.

I personally would like to see a few defensive shotguns in 20 gauge
I have a daughter... pretty amazing how much better she can make follow up shots with 20 gauge... to be honest I Much faster with follow up shots on 20 gauge than 12

Quick question, if you replace the latch, what technique do you use to eject the shells? I know you can stick your finger inside and release them manually. Is that the procedure you recommend?

Bought a 1301 Comp several years ago - great for 3-gun platform, but I use it for clays and defensive duty too. 13” length of pull, light weight, and low recoil - plus dependability is why I’ve been recommending it over the other choices in the marketplace especially for smaller or new shooters. But 12 3/8” LOP? Are that many shooters 5’2” and wearing a bulletproof vest?

Chris Baker... Great video. Would you use this for an occasional 3 gun competition (with the available 2 inch extended choke)? By occasional, I mean once or twice a year.... Not sure I need / want the comp version....
