  • I changed the strings of a half-size classical guitar "Yamaha CGS102A" from medium tension to high tension string set, and compared the sound before and after changing the strings.

I would have chosen a standard High Tension (Hard Tension) set where all six strings are of the same tension category. I still hear the rattles/buzzes on the medioum tension trebles.

Thanks for the video. Do these 1/2 size guitars have truss rods?

Thank you for watching ! Classical guitars in general don't have a truss rod including this model.

can the high tension strings damage the guitar? on neck especially

I don’t think so, as they’re still nylon strings designed for classical guitars, if you’re using a decent instrument.

@@deepvalleyguitar3351 That's the key - a brand-name guitar may tolerate the increased pull of hard tension strings better. I have a 3/4 size Giannini (50+ years old, Brazilian-made) that is very responsive to hard tension strings
with no hint of stress to the neck, bridge or top.

Yes it can, higher tension strings have a stronger force that pulls the guitar neck. I would only recommend higher tension if your guitar is used to it or if you classical has a truss rod. This is because the higher tension strings will bow the neck and will be higher up so you need to use the truss rod to balance out the string height
