I have to imagine a business like PSA carries some type of insurance on the assets in their possession they are grading - to get appropriate insurance coverage they would have to provide estimated value which would be what the insurance cost would be based on, so upcharges would be make sense if they have those types of costs associated with operating their business based on value. I get that might not be a fun answer for some folks, but typically this is how corporations operate, especially asset heavy operations - lots of bespoke insurance arrangements that have varying premiums based on asset value exist that 90%+ of people will never know about because it's how companies protect themselves on the back end.
Grading is such a racket. There's no valuation in one person's opinion over another's if those people are using different standards. Until that changes, these companies are fleecing folks. I contacted PSA when I first thought of grading. The cards I wanted to grade had a drastic difference between 9 to 10. 9 would sell for around $80 to $100. A 10 sells for $800+. Didn't want to pay an upcharge. PSA agent said low ball, wait for an upcharge. Much of the upgrade is insurance on the card so I have no problem with it.
DMG, IP Masquerena alt art, jump promo toon dmg, ultimate rare ancient fairy dragon, armed dragon lv7, and Dark magician promo are my favorite cards. The upcharge was definitely worth it
The upcharges were looking mighty sus till the end there. The streak of old school hits at the end there made it worth it. Horus lvl 8 and windstorm of etaqua were my favourite slabs in here
I'm more against upcharges myself yeah. The way I see it, PSA is there to do a service, which is grade cards. What their value ends up being should be irrelevant to that. They shouldn't be getting a cut of that if it ends up being a valuable card. Do they reimburse the submitter money if their cards are less valuable than the charge? I definitely don’t think they should be allowed to raise the price after you’ve already paid or agreed to pay. I think it just serves to short the customer
I think them taking more money is fair. If PSA is adding hundreds of dollars of value then its fair they get a cut of that pie. The alternative would be PSA getting into the business of buying raw items and grading them to sell slowly flooding the market which would decrease the value of high grades. Even with lower prices it likely would be more profitable for them assuming they dont completely flood the market but it would be less profitable for consumers.
I think the best card or my favorite card is either revival jam or the 1st ed Gemini elf even tho it got a 9 rip. Something about the old card stock is so good and the giveaway card too haha
One thing I've always wished is PSA would sleeve the slabbed cards. Especially vintage Japanese. They always start moving around in there. Most my vintage Pokemon Japanese do no and I hate it. GMA sleevs their slabs. Not sure who else.

Been binge watching old videos so much haven't watched your new ones lol
I think them taking more money is fair. If PSA is adding hundreds of dollars of value then its fair they get a cut of that pie. The alternative would be PSA getting into the business of buying raw items and grading them to sell slowly flooding the market which would decrease the value of high grades. Even with lower prices it likely would be more profitable for them assuming they dont completely flood the market but it would be less profitable for consumers.
Reminder that grading cards is a scam.
I think the best card or my favorite card is either revival jam or the 1st ed Gemini elf even tho it got a 9 rip. Something about the old card stock is so good and the giveaway card too haha
Should really move to a different company then PSA.
fav is still the red eyes black dragon and the Japanese dark magician girl.
Wow... that forbidden Yugioh card was fire! Definitely the highlight for me! :)
$100 is a joke.. PSA shouldnt do that. the are graders, what gives them the right to upcharge like that.
Can you do a room tour?
Love hate thing with the increases prices, love seeing the reactions for the cards good video
You are the master of jinxing your card grades I swear 😂 Very nice to see THOSE cards get PSA 10 though!
Stardust Dragon was my favorite from all these cards.
One thing I've always wished is PSA would sleeve the slabbed cards. Especially vintage Japanese. They always start moving around in there. Most my vintage Pokemon Japanese do no and I hate it. GMA sleevs their slabs. Not sure who else.
Do you get charged less if the value ends up being less?
Yeah don't agree with upcharge but at the same time it does increase value of the cards a little I feel like
Nice to see some 10's again! Much better luck this time!
Yeah psa up charges is crazy
They should just have a set price for the service
omg that dark magiciab alt art is fire
