Milwaukee Wisconsin - 27th and Burleigh and N 20th Street - North Side Inner City Neighborhoods

Driving through one of the roughest parts,of the North side, starting at 27th and Burleigh, heading East to 20th Street and south from there. This area is full of crime with a lot of crime, abandoned buildings and empty lots of land.

What constitutes a bad neighborhood? The homicide rate or the suicide rate?
I grew up on in Sherman Park and I was happy and never felt unsafe, but since moving to a "better" area I have never felt as lonely.
Not that I would take my own life but if you compare homicides with suicides you will find that in 2017 there were 118 homicides in Milwaukee County, and 156 suicides.
The conditions and expectations that "better" neighborhoods impose on people is a detriment to living joyfully and the outcome of that detriment never makes the headlines.

I take precautions when going in certain areas and keep clean :). It is very gritty over there for sure, but an honest part of the city worth exploring.
