I love all of the styles of dancing showcased in this video. It’s so rare during the ‘90s to see an international perspective. This song continues the Jackson’s history of trying to bring people together with songs like can you feel it, we are the world etc

Back in the 80s I have east Indian friends, played together always, went to black co worker Christmas party. Even went to an east Indian wedding as a kid. We cared nothing for skintone. A good person is a good person. I truly hate this fixation the youth have with skintone, that does not make a person, their actions do.

I am old enough to remember this coming out when it was new. I was a young teen and was more of a hard rock guy, but I remember seeing and hearing this on MTV and thinking this was a great song. Loved it and still do. Plus it had an awesome message. M.J. had so much talent. Such a shame to lose him like we did. And it is so true , " it doesn't matter if you're black or white". I believe like some others have said, that the media hypes up racial differences. Most people could care less about one's skin pigmentation. We care about one's character ( forget race ) and that's how we should be judged, as MLK Jr. said. While there are certainly always issues we can address and do better with , I think most of the race rhetoric is pushed by those who want to control us and a good way to do that is to keep us fighting amongst ourselves about things that are totally irrelevant. What could be more irrelevant than skin color. If you feel you know someone and can judge them based on that then you got serious issues.
Sorry for getting on the soap box---just feeling it tonight.😉
As always ...Love you guys. Take care✌❤

  • @davidruch1552
    @davidruch1552 2 ปีที่แล้ว +51

I remember this song, loved it when it came out. I do remember some racial differences but I do not remember it being so divisive. Unfortunately, it feels like we as a country have regressed a hell of a lot (at least that is the way the media would have you think). I personally do not feel any different than I did growing up. I had and still have black, Hispanic and white friends, just as I did before. To be honest with you, I feel the media has driven all races closer because most people do not feel the way the media portrays us. If you do not feel like this, open your eyes and look at yourselves. It is easy to go with the flow. But we need to see what is really happening in our cities and neighborhoods. Are we (personally)really going through all the things the media says we are or are we using this as an excuse to not come together.

‘I ain’t scare of your brother, I ain’t scared of no sheets!’ Only Michael Jackson, at the PEAK of his powers, would directly challenge the KKK on what was a global number one pop song… absolute King and there is not enough respect on that man’s name. Those aren’t people in costume either, he got people from all those cultures, all around the world, involved to spread his sincere, heartfelt message. ‘I don’t sing it if I don’t mean it…’ they don’t make them like Michael anymore. Rest in Peace MJ, and thank you… ❤️

The message of this song never get's old, at the end of the day we are all people no matter what color ethnicity or gender we are.
And in the end we all end up at the same place, in the dirt :).
So don't go 'round wastin time on hate and judgmental mindsets.

Of course at the time the Tabloids were hating on him on a massive level and so, the Tabloids were saying this song was all about his supposedly 'colour change' and it was all about his skin. When of course, it was all about uniting everyone through music regardless of their colour. If you take nothing away from this song MJ was all about anti racism and equality. Truly a much missed legend.

Michael was too good for this world. His childhood was stolen from him by a greedy, abusive father. Because of that, he always kept his childlike nature. He spent his whole life trying to recapture what he missed, as well as give down-and-out kids a moment of happiness. Unfortunately greedy lowlifes only saw money and tried to destroy him to get it. The court of public opinion deemed him guilty without a shred of evidence. As a matter of fact, there was more evidence that the accusing parents were lying. They had everything to gain and nothing to lose. But, if there's one thing society likes, its to watch a king fall. Evidence didn't matter.

When the jury was interviewed in the trial this happened:
A middle aged white male juror who said he thought Michael was weird and WANTED to convict him admitted "I kept waiting for the evidence, for thesmoking gun, it just never came",
Other jurors were mothers to young children and one juror was sexually abused as a child herself.
They said they would have happily convicted him if they thought he was guilty.
And one of them remarked in a TV interview:
"Yeah he was different. But who isn't? I just can't imagine why anyone would want to hurt him like
      that.
They saw the real victim in that trial was the
      defendant, a falsely accused MJ!
The only evidence that was there, spoke for MJ’s innocence, you’re right!

@@itsjustnaimaIt's so sad, because his last performance was the Earth Song in the This Is It rehearsals. And everyone who watched that video knows, even with all the allegations he did not shy away from the children, even in his last day, he emphasized his true love for them, to teach us. God bless Michael Jackson.

LONG LIVE THE KING OF POP ✊️😎👑 I know his career & life ended in a bad way but when it came to entertaining the fans, MJ was the man 👍😁. I think many of his videos paved the way for some of the greatest videos from artists we now see. I’ll never tire of watching his videos or listening to his music 🤟😄
