All I really want from phone developers is to focus on using laser scanning and a camera system for 3D scanning, photogammetry so software can follow for architecture and games and diy projects etc. That would be an extremely exciting innovation to be able to tell distance and accurately 3d scan items. Imagine the libraries of 3d objects you could have if everyone could do this easily. Imagine your phine being the ultimate swiss army knife for diy construction projects and home improvement.

Seriously ,get the pro.i am in a lot of doubt with getting mtk but it's insanely faster that it's sd counter parts now.very happy with n8 pro.also about the night shots,it's not the issue with camera but with camera app.i used manual mode and night pictures were clear and crisp with less noise.of course you will need to have proper knowledge on using manual mode but results are stellar.also stock cam softens images alot trying to reduce noise and so it's loosing all details.dont use stock cam app.its horrible.but sensor itself is excellent on n8 pro.

Got this phone. Its a good midranger. However to compare my old Mi5 the selfie of redmi note 8 kinda bit soft to my liking overall nice phone for regular users. (HOWEVER GO GET GCAM!) its 10x way better in quality)
For my experience i by it after 1 month because Wi-Fi is very bad it disconnect and dust get inside camera glass verry heavy in hand now i am really enjoying my huawei y7p i don't use phone for games things a lot for reviews you do great job that was my opinion

Note: It seems that the EEU version of the Miui Rom, comes with the Google dialer and messages apps and you can not use the Miui dialer and messaging app, this is quite annoying and terrible because Google dialer is quite bad, you can not make a shortcut of a contact on homescreen, you can but it does not make the call straightforward. Can you confirm the the room you have if it is global and if it does have google or miui (dialer contacts and messaging apps). Question: Is one thing i keep asking and nobody does a test to it, including this in your tests it will be a plus. When recording video in a loud sound environment does the active noise cancellation makes the surround sound awful? For example if you record a video in front of a speaker playing music, or in a live music event (not for know covid related :( ) does the sound fluctuates, it comes and goes, and gets cuted like in all other xiaomi models? 40°c is pretty common temp in summer in India, that's why Indians care a lot about overheating. Even low power Snapdragon chips overheat in Summer here.
At last, found the proper review on youtube that mention things that matter and logical, Subscribed. PS : Miui is always the downpoint of all Xiaomi Phone (Not optimized, Full of Bloats, Bugs, etc) its really a bummer

My Redmi Note 5 gave up after 2 years, I bought this one. 6 months passed after Chris's review. Several points that Chris criticized were improved, in particular regarding the camera. BTW. it is by far superior to the Redmi Note 5's camera. Over night fuel consumption is < 1%. This is what I do not like: - Auto-brightness works erratically, I wonder why nobody complains? - Glass casing nooooooooo, I did not want to ever buy a mobile with glass rear, but it was the best deal here in Singapore. I ordered a clumsy fat heavy sleeve. - Tiny white colour only notification Led. - Teardrop front camera black spot, ridiculous idea that thing. Everything else is fine. I paid USD 160 for the 6 Gb / 64 Gb version, a good deal.

Watching on my redmj note 8 global ver. JUSt recieved it a few days ago. no regrets. If you buy it now in the right shop you can have MIUI 11 I HAD ONE AND NOT THE MIUI 10 VER. And lastly mine has 4K VIDEO which is weird since you said it doesnt have.

One major complaint about the phone - notifications bar (status bar, as named in phone's os) is extremely flawed. Notification icons don't stick, not all social apps (in my case, Kik) make notification sound, no working option to force locked screen to display unread messages from all texting apps.

Yes custom ROM would definatyl help to get the most out of the SD665 as current the ROM needs some updates from Xiaomi.
I think you should give a try use miui for a month .. after that if you dont like it,then use custom rom.. Miui that bad .. so many cons

Note 7 is pretty good! I will buy Note 8 pro only because I have a very old phone "Redmi Note 5" so for me it's a huge upgrade, for you not really.

Basically, yes. The other difference is the The Global Version of the Note 8 comes with just 10 watt Charger, the 8T comes with the 18 Watt one.

DRM is always been issue for China's unit though (since yours is Chinese one). Global unit should get Widevine L1, will check after my unit come later
Only the Mi 9 and a few others on global have widevine level 1. Chinese don't care about it it's normal.
Indian variant of RN 8 has Widevine L1 support and surprisingly it is bit cheaper than Chinese variant.

@@epicc8801 2 1/2, no problem now since i already knew xiaomy only gave you 10w charger in the box. You have to separately buy the 18w charger if you want to use the qc 3.0 feature.

Watching on my redmj note 8 global ver. JUSt recieved it a few days ago. no regrets. If you buy it now in the right shop you can have MIUI 11 I HAD ONE AND NOT THE MIUI 10 VER. And lastly mine has 4K VIDEO which is weird since you said it doesnt have.
Can you please get your hands on the Indian version? As per various Indian tech reviews, the Global rom is better and it comes with Widevine L1 version. Also the rom is more optimized.

Not 60fps no. You need a dedicated GPU for serious gaming with it. Use an external one?

One major complaint about the phone - notifications bar (status bar, as named in phone's os) is extremely flawed. Notification icons don't stick, not all social apps (in my case, Kik) make notification sound, no working option to force locked screen to display unread messages from all texting apps.
