    I think that must be the most awesome old book cover I have ever laid eyes on! With your additions it will be even more glorious. 🥰 Can’t wait to see this journal unfold. It must be a mother daughter thing because I am starting to see my gown up daughter and granddaughters do it as well… 😊😊 beautiful book cover for that stunning journal you are making. This is about the video you did sometime back when you told the story of Lulu, your mother-in-law and the frixion pens. Omg I was peeing my pants. I had to share that story with my Lou who’s 14 now, he laughed and laughed then he said “ You know mom she could’ve just put the paper in the freezer and the writing would’ve come back”
    I thought you’d love that even if it’s a bit too late to save her work now😁

    Recently I thought my mojo was gone but I was still making small things but like you I was totally overwhelmed and I could not focus. I talked it out with a friend and once I knew I just had to many ideas and too many projects going. I started making lists of priorities that needed doing first then I made a list of all the projects and a list for ideas so I could focus better. I also really looked at all the half started things and decided which ones I wanted to do and not do. Remember when you stated your list booklet so you could get things done, maybe go back to that for your crafting so you can focus again.

      I haven't watched this video yet, life keeps happening, but hopefully tomorrow -- but your words are very wise and your advice is sound. I think we all at some point can easily become overwhelmed, because the pile seems so high, how will you ever get through it -- I used to be so organized, but my life was so much busier then, but I had a "to-do" book divided into daily, weekly, monthly -- I tried yearly goals, but it was too far into the future -- and I'd list things first in the weekly column, then break it into daily, and what didn't get done on that day, got moved over to the next -- and what didn't get done that week, got moved over to the monthly section -- I reviewed it every night before I went to bed, and in the morning and would check mid-afternoon -- especially if I was on a deadline for work -- it was the most organized I'd ever been in my life -- maybe you can give us an update down the road a bit and see how your new system is working out -- again, great advice -- thanks so much for sharing -- be well, Patricia

    I left you a message yesterday, but it didn't post -- maybe I forgot to hit "comment." But the reason I commented was because, I learned something yesterday which absolutely affirms your hypothesis, which you've said for at least the past year, if not before. You nkow how you always comment that paper from books up to and then about the end of the 1800's is much stronger than what came afterward -- well, you are correct. Oh, I guess I should add that this is England. I don't know about other areas of the world, but it would make sense they did something similar. beginning in the late 1700's through late 1800's, more and more people of Britain were becoming educated, could read and write, and enjoyed reading, so there was a great need for more paper for books. There actually was a person called "The Rag Man" -- The Victorians, especially, were keen on recycling clothing. First, the rich gave it to the servants who either passed it on or sold it in open markets specifically for used clothing -- and when the clothing had deteriorated to the point it was not longer wearable/usable, then people like the ragman would purchase the rags and sell them to the paper manufacturing company. Of course, they were filthy dirty and was often "infested" -- they didn't say with what -- so they were put into these huge vats and boiled for hours and hours, and then put into some type of press which squeezed all the water out, and the residue was "paper." The best quality paper was sold to the crown from which they made money -- then in the late 1800's, someone invented the method of making paper from the pulp of trees -- oh, usually the clothing was made from cotton, linen or flax -- wool did not work -- so even though broken down, the cotton, etc. fibers were still stronger than the pages made from the much cheaper method of pulp wood. How about that?

    • @3rscrafting
      @3rscrafting 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@roxycreations679 It's a two-prong process, my girl -- YOU are so knowledgeable about art and art history -- areas I know zip about -- YOU also were the one that discerned the difference in the paper -- I don't have any 1800's paper, and if I did, I'd lock it up in a vault in a swiss bank -- well, maybe not THAT dramatic -- ha -- but I absolutely support you using that paper -- because -- where's it going to end up -- eventually in a landfill somewhere or gathering dust doing no good -- no one's reading it; it's not on display -- the exception, of course, is your 17th century paper, but you scanned it -- and boy, do I love it -- I love love love your tags --- honestly, I do -- but that is the No. 1 digi kit I have -- I printed it on resume paper, regular white paper and tea-dyed paper, and the last was my favorite -- I can't believe how bold the colors still are -- I also support your use of vintage and/or antique fabrics -- I know you save some, which is more than reasonable -- but suppose you just collect it and it gathers dust -- like mine does -- I'm almost finished with my journals -- my new laser printer sucks !! It prints beautifully for about 75 page, then the toner is depleted -- they advertise the color toners should last 1500 pages -- so, having a degree and work experience in the law background, I began researching and lo and behold, they had been slapped with a lawsuit in federal court, and the court demanded they do truthful advertising -- so what they did, they put new toner cartridges in the printer and printed four -- 4 -- pages in black and 4 pages in "color" -- but didn't specific whether they just change the text color, or printed an image in color -- they did four pages, and measured the toner left over, and came up with the 1500 pages -- and in small small print which you can't read, it says -- not based on actual end-user experience -- they lied. I contacted the company, a rep named "Frank" wrote me back, requesting info, which I supplied and have not heard one word back -- I also told him what I found in the legal documents and advised he advance my correspondence to their legal department, because they are also in violation by producing a printer in the US -- don't know about any other company -- but they can't manufacture it in the US which bars another company which produces the same parts -- for ex: HP -- HP's color laser printer, you can buy generic four toner cartridges for less than one is for the Lexmark. The part of my brain which worked for 30 years in the legal industry and retains all of the info gathered over the years is still active and functioning -- the part that tells me where I left my phone does not -- ha -- today is my birthday -- we have perfect weather -- chilly and rainy with T-storms in the forecast. I am doing nothing but catching up on videos and maybe crafting along -- you are No. 1 on my list. Boy, I should have paid attention when people told me turning 35 puts a little hitch in your giddy up !! (that's an American saying from the "wild west" days -- when the poor horses who were worked halfway to death got old and were no longer much use to the owner because it couldn't run, etc. as it did when it was young, they called it have a "hitch in its giddy up," which then translated to when humans turn 35 -- ha.

      @@deborahsmith5036 Thank you for your kind words. As I suspected, I sent in all of their requested information, and have not heard one peep back, even though I've sent several emails asking why -- this is far from being over. I just turned 64 yesterday -- who IS that woman in my mirror? -- ha -- I can't work, so I have days and days of empty hours -- even if I receive no reply, I'm still going to do my best to inform the public about this printer. It prints beautifully, that is not an issue -- it would be a great printer for a small business or a small at-home office which mainly uses the black ink and text, and then occasional use to print out like maybe a chart or something -- but it certainly does not print up to 1500 pages --shame on them !!! In my last email that is exactly what I stated -- shame on you for scamming an old disabled woman !! Ha.
